It's kind of like sticking an old polaroid photograph on his laptop screen, except you need to put the picture into your 3.5" floppy drive* and send it to the forum with your dial-up connection.
*unless you're 'well-hung' with a 5-1/4 floppy.**
** Younglings may not have any idea what I'm talking about.

Feels weird being a youngling and understanding you knowing that I should have no idea... I don’t think I fit very well in my generation tbh...

Ahh Mikael Hasselstein, you may be an Imperial, and ISB at that even, but that made me smile. I salute you! ![]()

But do you know what it is like to rewind a cassette tape with a pencil?
...and why a pencil and not a pen?
...and why it's all in the wrist?
If not... Get to the back of the line, you whippersnapper!
Oh, and pass forward the geritol when you get there, because I forgot to grab it on the way in.

I was too young with cassettes to be responsible to rewind them, I just watched them

Why would you watch a cassette? They only play music! ![]()

Hey, I remember when my Commodore 64 relied on a cassette-tape drive to load its games - such as the really awesome space trading/dogfighting game Elite.

ANYWAY, back on message:
On Discord I have a list that requires some input on building and ideas for deployment/strategy. I would appreciate the ideas of the truly loyal Imperials who have been approved to the Academy.
I have a tournament tomorrow against a dastardly set of Rebels, and I need to turn around the Empire's fortunes in the Portland sector.

Have you accepted @GiledPallaeon yet? Whilst I am in no way a dedicated rebel player as my only real affiliation is to burst damage and the wierd, Giled is very much dedicated to dual ISD's, which is the kind of person you need for understanding deployment as juggernaut lists live and die by their deployment.

Ok then I’m mixing stuff up, looked up, I watched video cassettes, my bad
I think that for playing music all we had was the new portable cd-player that had come out, so yeh, I’m not that old

My current Sloane list has won a couple of store championships. After a little refinement it now looks like this.
398/400, Most Wanted, Capture the VIP, Solar Corona
ISD-II, Sloane, Gunnery Team, RBDs, Leading Shots, SFO, Avenger 166
Quasar-I, Flight Controllers, Boosted Comms 64
Gozanti, Suppressor 27
Gozanti, Comms Net 25
Howlrunner, Zertek Storm, Sabre Squadron, 3xTIE-Interceptor, 5xTIE-Fighter 116
Ships: Sloane naturally combines well with Avenger. 4 Tie-Fighters activated by the ISD can tweak a brace token and make the target very vulnerable to its shooting. Suppressor too gives another option to turn red a brace token and feel Avenger's wrath. If the fighter battle is won then 8 squadrons has a good chance of spending 3 Defence tokens and doing 4 damage to the target. When the TIEs attack a ship the defender is often unwilling to spend redirects partly as it is just on a single hit and partly as it means the next TIE could discard the defence token. So Avenger sometimes finds it is shooting a down shield with no brace and some red redirects. The second Gozanti gives a Nav to the light carrier turn 1 while it squadrons to (usually) bank it as a token or go for a sneaky turn 1 strike on some non rogues or even the front shield on a valuable target ship.
Squadrons: The Quasar with its boosted comms & Flight Controllers makes my four speed 5 squadrons a nasty threat. Howlrunner can usually keep up even if she can't quite get in range to shoot herself. 4x6 blue dice with swarm rerolls can cut squadrons to pieces and the accuracies strip brace and scatter tokens from aces. Sabre squadron goes for valuable escorted targets like Jan, Mauler or Ten Numb or for targets with decent counterattack values. Zertek is there to keep Howlrunner alive as long as possible and rarely uses his reroll unless I'm confident of killing a VIP or have easy access to repair the damage on the base. 15 points for a double brace escort is a bargain and can take the sting out of an A-wing alpha strike. My fighters have a lot of hitting power but are vulnerable to Flak so when acting near enemy ships I must press the attack with the Star Destroyer to get kills and take some of the heat off my TIEs. I could have gone for a Sloane Ace list. They would survive better but have had less anti ship power and I would have to loose a Gozanti for the points or turn Avenger into a cheaper, less capable ISD1..... and I do like the ISD2's mid range clout with those Gunnery teams.
Objectives: I have found a two point bid gives me the initiative choice around half the time and I usually go first if I can. I don't want more of a bid. I would have to lose a fighter (116/134 is already on the low side compared to a lot of Sloane lists) or some other vital upgrade and you always could meet an opponent with a really chunky bid.
Hail Palpatine! May he rule eternally and never get thrown over some railings.
Seriously guys. Am I the only one uttering this benediction? Come on everybody.... Ah never mind.... what's the worst that can happen?

And stay happy in your work.

Tie Fighter. I'll edit the list.

Gotcha, tought you meant Phantom or something......

Ohh that's got me thinking.
7 Tie Phantoms + Whisper is doable if I drop the bid entirely. I do like them in a Sloane list (otherwise they are a bit poor). Certainly better against Flak and better against ships but my list needs to win the fighter battle quickly and the Howlrunner + swarm benefits should tip things in my favour quickly. I would also need to buy 2 more Squadron II packs.

My apologies, officers. The nature of active duty command, I've been on special assignment and only returned to my regular squadron today. In short Gink is correct, at deployment you must arrange your battleships to two ends, to reach the enemy at approximately the same time and to stay out of each other's way. Remember most Rebel squadron wings are loathe to be far from their "capital" ships, so even the mass arrival of fighters can give you a CEP for the heavy warships small enough you can work with it. Details to follow tomorrow.
On another topic... I was reading the Imperial Handbook recently and found a nice copy of the Imperial Naval Code. Perhaps some of us could do with a reminder:
IMPERIAL NAVAL CODE
I will honor the Empire in my thoughts and actions.
I will obey my superiors.
I will never shirk from my duties.
I will maintain impeccable standards of conduct and appearance.
I will use Imperial resources responsibly.
I will complete every mission without hesitation, ambiguity, or mercy.
I will recognize that the Empire is greater than myself and be willing to die in its service.
I will call out those who do not live up to the standards of the Naval Code.

I was also recently given a copy of the Imperial Handbook, by none other than the dastardly @Admiral Theia. Typically for her ilk, its sacred pages were defaced with Rebel slanders.

Konstantine was certainly really good at that second to last line.... and garbage at LITERALLY EVERY OTHER ONE.

Yes, my copy was also scribbled on by some notorious Rebels. Perhaps their notes will help us track them down...

I just wanted to make sure you were at peak fighting efficiency when I beat you like a brown-haired step-Bothan. Oh, wait, it's the Imperial Handbook, so I guess I am handicapping you then. Don't worry, now that you're under its influence I'll spot you 30 points in every game, try to keep it fair :-P
