Imperial Naval Academy (loyal Imperials only)

By Mikael Hasselstein, in Star Wars: Armada

I once threw a potato at someone that looked at my funny... does that count?

I keep trying to come up with rebel lists becuase it does seem the majority of people are playing imps but try as I might... I keep coming back to VSDs and Tie Fighters... so much fun to be had with these poor overlooked imperial main stays.

That bigger, faster, more deadly ship you're using? Ya... its a crutch.

An Imperial Academy... Wonderful!

I have served the Emperor since the beginning of this conflict. I am also a serving Administrator for KDY, as such I supply ships and squadrons to many different factions in the Galaxy. All sales are sanctioned by the Imperial Court, and my ISB checks and licensing are completely up to date. My experience with wide and varied platforms is well documented.

When not participating in R&D, I fulfill my Commission obligations of an Imperial Admiral. My latest work involves perfecting a Light Carrier Group for Admiral Sloane. However, greater flight time is required against Rebel fleets, but the Emperor demands results... not excuses. To that end I seek to expand Imperial Military Doctrine to best utilize all tools in our arsenal. Even diminished, Major Rhymer and Demolisher are potent weapons, that can both assist Admiral Sloane, and augment her more than potent talents.

I am a true believer in the power of the Star Destroyer, a ship which has no rivals. I have used my Star Destroyers to great effect as they helped my win a galaxy wide vassal tournament thus declaring the dominance of star destroyers to the world.

I also have a penchance for utilising underused imperial resources, such as interdictors, tractor beams and YV666s alongside my good friend Admiral Konstantine.

This may count against me, however I find it is of great value to investigate rebel tech to better understand how to mercilously defeat it. As such, I am looking for an intelligence position in this great navy.

Gink we have photographic evidence of you collusion with rebel scum......in fact my brother, a loyal imperial tangled with your rebel fleet.

That does speak to good character, provided you were <5 years old that the time of the potato incident.

It takes one to know one? (For everything else there's the ISB).

Hi Academy.

Supposedly I'm a bit too scummy for the likes of the institution, however, recently I've been seriously trying to make strong Imperial lists that will defeat the Rieekan 2-3 2-4 max squads menace.

I've also been interested in running some no squadron lists that have a dedicated way to defeat max squadrons.

Academy, will you help me out? I'm running out of ideas.

I've been meaning to test this:

Transmission from Star Destroyer "Intolerance", Admiral C. Tylerron commanding: I must respectfully decline consideration for the proposed Imperial Naval Academy as duties in my quiet local sector have precluded meaningful engagements with active Rebel units and therefore, having been denied valuable experience regarding -Fleet versus rebellion- tactics, I am currently not in a position to contribute to discussions of strategic importance. If I am reassigned to a more active sector, I will then be (in the future) fully available to present findings regarding effective techniques for Rebel "pacification". Respectfully, -Chaz Tylerron

Admiral Tylerron,

The admiralty finds your recusal disappointing. However, we are satisfied that your sector has been pacified. Remain vigilant, however, for the rest of us will be attempting to flush the Rebel scum from our own sectors, and they may flee into yours.

In the meantime, the Academy is identifying the centroid of fleet complements that have proven to be victorious against the Rebels, and will be developing a doctrine with which to drive these battle lines against those who would undermine the legitimate rule of the Emperor.

.Transmission from Star Destroyer "Valkyrie", hosting Admiral Tylerron: Your understanding is appreciated and your concerns are being addressed. Currently conducting a fleet-wide review to determine efficiency of all ships and crews in preparation for Rebel incursions.

Early indications are showing a probable drop in crew efficiency since deployment to this sector. I suspect this is due to the absence of Rebel activity having a detrimental effect on readiness. I intend to introduce a strict training regimen and investigate any culpable officers.

It is also becoming apparent that the Victory Star Destroyers under my command are in dire need of an overhaul, most seriously the communication arrays which (as I am sure you are aware) are so readily prone to early failures. Please have an adjutant contact the shipyard necessary to have arrangements made for this process.

A full report will be made available upon completion of my review.

I will finish the training regimen and deploy the corvettes I have to patrol the areas most likely to see a Rebel presence. I expect to deploy the Fleet before long to safeguard from any Rebel activity all areas within the sector assigned to my jurisdiction.

All as the Emperor wills.

Respectfully Chaz Tylerron, Admiral 77th Fleet.

I'd like to present to the academy, Cadian's AA, a theoretical exercise in destroying the Rieekan menace -
(One caveat, I wish this had 2 more squadrons, but to do so youd have to give up the higher refits and their AA flak.

Nice looking Imperial fleet there. Be a shame if some Rebels we're to learn it's location. Be a reeeeeeeal shame.

One of the Victories is missing an antenna. How.... disappointing.

I love that fleet!

Cloaking the communications array makes it a less convenient target for starfighters. It’s cutting-edge Imperial technology. :P

Right. You do realize we're rebels right? Every bit of technology you have we steal from you :D

You Rebel filth don’t even have exposed communications arrays... *gasp* or do you?

Relegated as I am to the Outer Rim, most of my work has been training exercises, in which I have a vast preference for the beauty and power of Imperial ships, but I have on occasion made use of Rebel ships and tools to both recruit new cadets and to better understand the tactics they use. X-wings are simply not as satisfying to employ as TIE fighters. However, I can't really contribute much of use to the Academy, as most of my resources are seriously out of date, as is most of my intel. I haven't used nor faced anything newer than Wave 3 (I think?).

That said, I think it is important for the Imperial Academy to come up with effective doctrines which capitalize on the unique strengths of the Empire, such as the awesome alpha strike potential of the Star Destroyer forward arc, rather than trying to mimic the MSU doctrine of the Rebel Alliance. Deploy the Star Destroyers with pride and develop tactics that will allow that pride to be justified.

Seriously, from an aesthetic stand point, I really want to play the Empire in a way that actually follows Imperial style; large, powerful ships surrounded by swarms of fighters. The numbers game is taken by the Empire at the squadron level, while at the capital ship level, we favor powerful and durable craft, though a Gozanti flotilla or a Raider is certainly not out of place to support our squadrons....
