Debris Gambit

By Browncoat50, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Here is a new swarm leader build I want tok try. Looking for critiques

Omega Leader: juke, comm relay

Omega ACE: swarm leader, advanced optics

Youngster: debris gambit

Black Squadron pilot x2: Crack Shot

Basic 5 ship swarm. Lots of evade tokens and advanced optics makes omega ACE so much easier to play now.

This list is exactly what I want to try. Sort of spreads out your threat, making it tough for the enemy to decide on who to target first and it's a good new take on the classic mini tie swarm. Youngster supports Swarm leader and gives people a chance to get an extra evade. Omega Ace pumps out the hurt with swarm leader and his pilot ability. Omega Leader is the same ol' fun. Good mix of FO and Classic Imperials. Love it and love mini swarms.

Wonder if maybe you could replace the Black Squadron Pilots for generic Tie FO's for maneuverability? Just getting back into the game after a few months hiatus so consider it just a thought.

Debris gambit can get you 1 evade more than your evade action on these ships. For it to do that, you will need to place the ship in between two asteroids. Your opponent is very likely to understand this and will refrain from jousting into that setup unless they can PS kill Omega Ace.

I don't think debris gambit and swarm leader is a good combo as gambit will restrict your swarms movement greatly in order to use it. My experience with kill box swarms is that they struggle when having to turn through obstacles.

That being said, I like the rest of it....

Let us know how you did!

I like the Omega Ace potential now with Advanced Optics. It's a scary ship for the points.

I'm not sold on the wingmates though. While OL is great, he really doesn't want his token pulled for swarm leader. I know you have a few others that are going to feed him, but then those ships just become pretty poor offensively if they are forced to evade every time. And OL is more of a consistent long game pilot rather than an immediate threat to try to confuse target priority.

I've been playing with some wingmates for a Swarm Leader OA and this is what I've come up with

TIE/FO Fighter: •"Omega Ace" (28)

Hull Upgrade (3)

•Swarm Leader (3)

Advanced Optics (2)

TIE Striker: •"Pure Sabacc" (24)

Lightweight Frame (2)

Adaptive Ailerons (0)

Adaptability (+1) (0)

TIE Advanced: Tempest Squadron Pilot (24)

Guidance Chips (0)

TIE/x1 (0)

Proton Rockets (3)

Accuracy Corrector (0)

TIE Advanced: Tempest Squadron Pilot (24)

Guidance Chips (0)

TIE/x1 (0)

Proton Rockets (3)

Accuracy Corrector (0)

Total: 100/100

Now you've got Pure as an immediate threat if not dealt with. He can also shoot first to soften up a target for OA to land some crits.

The Tempests have auto 2 hits every shot so they can evade for their actions and still apply some pressure to green dice. They are also packing a 5 dice rocket with chips so they are a threat on their own as well.

Still this list suffers from PS 7 so basically everything out there is shooting before it and might be able to wipe one of your aces off the table before they fire. I will have to try it out and see how it does against things but I like the idea.
