I have never flown scum, can I put a list together for my casual night?

By CasoPrime, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I am going to my casual night again on Jan 2nd. I kinda want to fly 1 game with scum. I have very limited scum as I have bought most for the upgrades and I just can not put a list together in my head that seems worth flying. While I am mainly interested in fun, I would also like to win. Here are the ships I have:

Scurgg

M3A

Quadjumper

Guns for Hire

I can proxy any upgrades I may not have, but I would like to use just the pilots and ships I have.

Anyone want to mess around and help me build a list?

I don't have the scurrg myself, so I haven't tinkered with it. But there should be plenty of nym builds floating around. You have the bomblet generator, which fits him quite naturally.

A heavy scyk with a cannon upgrade is a nice ship imo. Depending on what the rest of your choices are, you could go control with tractor beam or with an ion cannon. But I also like a heavy laser cannon to to chip away from afar.

I have tried a bombing quad jumper with zuvio, bane, bomblet and pattern analyzer. However bomblet is unique, so you have to decide. A cheap gunrunner with tractor array is also some sort of control and should be fun to knock aces around. If you expect few small based ships then don't go that route though.

Don't know the kihraxz but I would probably go victor with stealth device and scavenger crane. Add vaksai and cheap upgrades to taste.

I like to fly guri with autothruster, the new title and sometimes attani (still) when the rest of the squad fits. If you want to use your pilots only, I would instead go for thweek with autothrusters and new title. Keep some points for the bid and copy highest pilot skill.

When I look at the total points values, I would probably go for something like this (having flown neither of them yet)

Viktor Hel — Kihraxz Fighter 25
Fearlessness 1
Scavenger Crane 2
Stealth Device 3
Vectored Thrusters 2
Pulsed Ray Shield 2
Vaksai 0
Ship Total: 30
Thweek — StarViper 28
Autothrusters 2
StarViper Mk. II -3
Ship Total: 27
Captain Nym (Scum) — Scurrg H-6 Bomber 30
Trick Shot 0
Twin Laser Turret 6
Cad Bane 2
Bomblet Generator 3
Long-Range Scanners 0
Ship Total: 41

Maybe this gives you some inspiration. Good luck

I flew a rey/nym list against thweek, and he opted for Reys ability and it was brutal. (I also was using the 1st damage deck and first crit on Rey was injured pilot then I lost Nyms tlt.) I really like the idea of Thweek. Using Nym whom I am already pretty confident with wouldn't be bad. It seems like with Viktor after you lost the stealth device you would want range 3 or obstructed to make him worth it. I will throw this in my list builder and give it a shot.

After you lose stealth device, you have scavenger crane to get it back. It's not guaranteed though, since a ship has to be destroyed nearby, but it may work.

The quadjumper is nice with pattern analyzer and spacetug tractor array. Use lowest ps pilot for a nice, cheap disruption.

Having never seen one on any table(live and in person that is) I would love to fly one. I like using ships that no one else does. I mean, I flew an imperial firespray at my 1st Store championship last July.

The spacetug can tractor beam things before they move. Pattern analyzer allows it to take an action after its 1 reverse. It is super annoying and anyone who knows what it does will likely kill it with fire lol

Is it worth taking the low PS named pilot or just the ps1?

Unkarr Plutt is not bad if you have the two extra points. And the last post I meant Pattern Analyzer, not primed thrusters.

I would def. do a three ship list bc spacetug does not hit hard. If you could get nym and another missile carrier or good starviper in that would be a pretty good casual list!

What about something like this. I know Sixxa isn't exactly Nym, but I think would be fun to try.

Toss on also an Outlaw Tech for maximum hilarity, since you'll be getting focus too.

Looks good. I like sol sixxa. Clusters are good on that ship too.

Do the clusters clear it's base with the 1 turn?

Yes! That is why I like it. Your build is also good too. Hits hard then picks off with tlt and bomblet.

This list was pretty fun to fly, you get two ships at PS10 and Thweek is just awesome:

Captain Nym (PS 10)

  • VI (1 Pt)
  • Autoblaster Turret (2 Pts)
  • Extra Munitions (2 Pts)
  • Harpoon Missiles (4 Pts)
  • Bomblet Generator (3 Pts)
  • "Genius" (0 Pts)
  • Guidance Chips (0 Pts)
  • Advanced Sensors (3 Pts)

Serissu (PS 10)

  • VI (1 Pt)
  • Heavy Syck "Cannon" (2 Pts)
  • Tractor Beam (1 Pt)

Thweek (PS 4)

  • StarViper Mk. 2 (-3 Pts)
  • Virago (1 Pt)
  • FCS (2 Pts)
  • Autothrusters (2 Pts)

TOTAL SQUAD PTS = 99

Its only a 1 point bid but you have some decent coverage across all ranges and a bomber to help cover the rear of your formation and provide area denial. You could downgrade Harpoons to your flavor of choice and then add Pulse Ray Shields to Serissu for regen and to give her that 1 straight she doesn't have. My only suggestion would be to either randomly throw obstacles on a table to get used to flying Thweek's banking BR. It will definitely open you eyes to his crazy repositioning ability. Hope this helps and good luck flying Scum, it's my favorite to fly.

I can see others have suggested similar stuff I would bring this. Lots of interesting mechanics, all your scum ships, and they synergize well. Unkar can set up the harpoon + mangler, jostero can shoot after inaldra gets her mangler through, and people keeps the tractor beam. Thweek should take PS if anyone have PS 7+ to have an ace effect.

Inaldra (15)
A Score to Settle (0)
"Mangler" Cannon (4)
"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Cannon) (2)

Thweek (28)
Fire-Control System (2)
Autothrusters (2)
StarViper Mk. II (-3)
Virago (1)

Captain Jostero (24)
Deadeye (1)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Scavenger Crane (2)
Guidance Chips (0)
Pulsed Ray Shield (2)
Vaksai (0)

Unkar Plutt (17)
Ketsu Onyo (1)
Spacetug Tractor Array (2)

Total: 100

I don't have Inaldra so I thought this may suffice. Primed thrusters on Unkar for reverse then barrel roll shenanigans.

I have seen 5 Quadjumpers on the table. If it works right, it can destroy almost any list, but once you see it in action, you know what to look for. I saw Blake from Hornet Squadron podcast almost quit the game after facing it.

If it's casual night, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I'd pick stuff that sounds fun. Or....try to get as many things is as you can.

Guri is one of the better Starviper pilots. I'd go with her.

I'd probably go with this list:

Guri (30)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Autothrusters (2)
StarViper Mk. II (-3)
Virago (1)

Sunny Bounder (14)
"Light Scyk" Interceptor (-2)

Cartel Marauder (20)
Scrambler Missiles (2)
Black Market Slicer Tools (1)
Pulsed Ray Shield (2)
Guidance Chips (0)
Munitions Failsafe (1)
Vaksai (0)

Lok Revenant (26)
Adaptability (0)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Tactician (2)

Total: 100

Light Scyk for bumping. You might be surprised if people ignore it and you are able to get in R1 with a Focus and TL on someone. Use it to rush out there and take some fire while Guri is flanking. Or...people ignore it and she fires away and gets into bumping range.

Cartel Marauder is cheap and it dishes out 3 attack dice. Scrambler missile is almost free and you get Guidance Chip and M. Failsafe for free. Why not try it for a point? Black Market Slicer Tool is just there in case someone stresses themselves.

I haven't used the Skurrg much, but you can go for a cheap Tactician Ion Turret. You are a ship that does well with 3 attack dice, but if anyone gets in R2 of you, you can stress them....and maybe even Ionize them, too!

Guri is to be the knife fighter that gets in close and hurts people. Hope others don't go with high PS pilots. Don't go straight in with her. FCS will help her use Boost or BR to get to where she needs to. At R1 she will hopefully have a Focus and TL.

I respect the love for Guri, she's always been a blast, even before Tokyo Drift barrel rolls, but she really is a completely different beast than Thweek. Thweek + bid is the closest the StarViper gets to an ace, which is a bit of a shame on such a zippy little ship. Guri gets that EPT slot that I love, (and that Fantasy Flight wisely left off of Thweek) but her only real method of survival is to be a low priority target compared to her wingmates. Jamming into range one leaves you with fingers crossed when you're too low in PS to dodge arcs or hope to shoot before your prey, who may well reduce her to her constituent robot parts drifting through the cosmos. Thweek with Advanced Sensors/Fire Control Systems and Glitterstims is the top of the PS pecking order, which is a much safer place for the dainty little space-butterfly to be.

I like both, but think Thweek is more versatile than Guri, unless of course you're looking for someone to pair up for an Attanni Mindlink. My two creds.

With that many ships, you could build pretty much any Scum list you wanted. I'll suggest one:

Captain Jostero

Vaksai

Expertise

Harpoon Missiles

Scavenger Crane

Vectored Thrusters

Guidance Chips

Sol Sixxa

Havoc

Enhanced Scopes

Cluster Mines

Conner Nets

Extra Munitions

R4-E1

TLT

Predator

Jakku Gunrunner

Spacetug Tractor Array

Pattern Analyzer

Ketsu Onyo

So, between bombs and Harpoons, there are multiple triggers for Jostero's ability, which is supported by Expertise. Sol is an incredibly potent Bomber, and with PS1 positioning to drop those bombs even after a red, you are ALWAYS going to land them. Predator/TLT is a potent offensive combination, but I could see you upgrading to Nym for his pilot ability and dropping to a lower EPT, maybe ASTS. The gunrunner is one of the most potent little @$$holes in this game - you ignore them at your peril.
