Hello, I play X-Wing and I couldn't resist the dive into Armada. I bought a used collection of 2 Imperial halves of the core set, 1 VSD, 1 ISD, and Rouges and Villians. I then bought 1 more ISD and a Raider. I don't want to buy any Rebel sets, but are there any cards in them that I would need?
New Player
I think Assault Proton Torpedoes is only in the MC30c expansion, and Flechette Torpedoes only come with the Pelta.

Here's some resources to get you started.
First, welcome, seems like we've had several of these threads lately and I'm happy to see armada grow.
If you have an android device my first recommendation is picking up armada fleet designer, its an amazing fleet building app. It's not on google play store or amazon because of copyright bs but heres the link.

Youll get a lot of use out of your isd, its a great ship. I suspect youll make the jump to rebels also, it's far more to common in armada than xwing. As for specific cards i find armada to do a decent job with the split but there are exceptions like repair crew and stuff. From where youre at id consider imp pack 1 if you can find it for retail( 20 us), squads are pretty important. More than anything just try to get games in, theyre the best way to learn and figure out where you wanna go.
ATPs, XI7 turbo lasers and Leading shots were all participation prizes in recent tournament packs so are readily available on eBay for a small price.
Welcome to this awesome game!
The ones I can think of are Assault Proton Torpedoes and Turbolaser Reroute Circuit (both come with the MC30c) and XI7 Turbolasers (it comes with the Nebulon-B).

Indeed, there seem to be a number of fledgling Imperials joining our ranks. I am starting to feel a calling (or perhaps that's the Emperor speaking into my mind) to found an online Imperial Naval Academy.
I must do as my Emperor commands....

Hey, I had not seen that one before. It's made my the creator of that X-Wing app that I used to use when I was a lowly squadron commander.

No. Do not turn my new recruits against the Empire! There's a special place in the spice mines of Kessel for those who impressionable lure young Imperials to the light side.
Do not listen to him, recruits. There is no need to dabble in the Rebel side of Armada. All you shall need is obtainable through alternate sources. As @BiggsIRL mentioned above, popular upgrades such as the Assault Proton Torpedoes , and Flechette Torpedoes are obtainable through eBay (such as Henry's Outpost or Evyl Gaming Empire ) or through trades . I would say that the Navigation Officer or Skilled First Officer has a higher priority than either of those ordnance upgrades. But even so, I would not worry too much about obtaining those before you understand more about using the upgrades you have with the ships you have.
To get your start, figure out what sort of play style you want to engage in. Since you have not yet purchased a Gladiator, there isn't too great of a need for Assault Proton Torpedoes, and Flechettes are not anyhing you need not consider yet (if ever). You will probably be better served by figuring out how to deal massive death through far-off turbolaser shots while maintaining the Rebel scum in your forward firing arcs through superior navigation (which is where a Navigation officer might come in - otherwise, just spamming nav commands is not the worst of ideas).

Yes, to @Mad Cat you listen. Do not fall for the Rebel Expansions and the lure of the Rebel side.

Yavaris can be discarded by boarding Vader.
Oh do not be fooled, I am no friend of the Empire. I am an Imperial Warlord. I govern the sector of space I control with my enlightened absolute rule.

Hm, I find your lack of loyalty disturbing. I guess you can still be a traitor, even if you are not part of the Rebel Alliance.

A shame to see a promising young officer like @Varyag fall to the temptations of treason so quickly. When our forces close in on him to destroy his home from orbit, perhaps then he will reconsider his decision...
Anyhow, Fighter Squadrons I is a solid addition to any collection, even if you are rather traitorous.
Don't forget to grab Corellian Conflict, preferably after getting your favorite Fight Squadron I. There are some VERY good named pilots and "named generics" in there, plus it doubles your list of available objectives.
Edit: Like literally, the "standard" low point Imperial Squadron cover consists of just pilots from Corellian Conflict, and the Rebel "standard" contains one.
