Hello all. I was playing a match with a friend and I laid out proton bombs, and one token detonated hitting two of his ships. Was I correct to choose the order in which I wanted his two ships to be dealt the face-up damage cards?
His ships were a Z-95 and a Firespray, the Firespray being physically closest to the proton bomb token. I decided I wanted the Z-95 to be dealt his face-up damage card first, and then the Firespray, hoping the first face-up card would be a 2-damage crit and ultimately destroy the full-health Z-95. The first face-up damage card went to the Z-95 as I had declared, but wasn't a 2-damage crit. Ironically though, the second face-up damage card was a 2-damage crit, and it went to the Firespray. Just bad irony for me in that case. Anyway, I've looked over the FAQ and searched the forums, but I can't find a concrete answer to whether there is a proper order for dealing damage to multiple ships suffering one AoE bomb. I guess what I went with was the same ruling for mines, which, when mines are laid on top of multiple ships, the person dropping one chooses who suffers it, but with the proton bomb, I was choosing the order those ships suffered a face-up damage. My buddy and I didn't really debate over this, but I would rather have a solid solution for the future. Also, one can argue that the order does matter even when dealing face-down damage cards with seismic charges or thermal detonators, etc., because if some effect (Rexlor Brath or Saboteur) flipped a damage card face-up on a ship, that critical damage effect could have rightfully belonged to a different ship, and in place of it could have been a less-severe critical damage effect...But honestly, in that deep of a situation, I wouldn't even consider this chain of events, and wouldn't even care lol.
