Zion's Finest -- Episode 7! Listbuilding!
Palp Question:
During the podcast, Steven mentioned the Emperor: Once during your activation, you may choose another figure within 4 spaces. That figure interrupts to perform an attack.
During his explanation he said that if Palp chooses an opposing figure, the opposing player controls the attack, which includes choosing the target, rolling, surges, etc. So if you used the ability against my figure, I could just choose the emperor and attack him.
Our local area has not been playing it this way, they have been "controlling" the figure within 4 spaces based on the new rulebook that came with HOTE that says a controlled figure has no friendly figures during the period of control.
This obviously makes Palp insane.
Has there been any rulings anyway that explain what Steven said about Palp?
thanks,
Edited by ImperialOfficerIf you look at the command card "lure of the dark side," then it makes no sense for palp to be able to control the opposing figure without it saying so. Emperor never says that you can control your opponents figure, only choose it to attack.

Yeah check the difference in wording between Palp and Murne/Lure the Dark.

I completely agree, based on the card it does not appear that he should be able to. But there wasn't anything on Palp's deployment card that prevented it, so I wasn't sure.
I'm not disagreeing, but do we know that the regionals that have happened so far ruled it the same way?

The official ruling is from Jabba's Order hit. He can give an enemy figure an attack just like Palpatine can but it was ruled that the owner of the figure controls this attack. Palpatine is worded the exact same way so I doubt there will be another ruling.

Oh ok Great! I just wanted something to refer to when they try it again. As always, I appreciate the help.
If someone brings it up, should actually show them Murne's deployment card or lure of the dark side - those are the only cards/abilities that actually let you "perform" an attack with a hostile figure and control it during the duration. If they read the differences between the wording on those cards and palpatine/jabba they should get it.
Emperor is worded like Executive Order. The chosen figure performs an attack, not Palpatine or the elite Imperial Officer. The attacker is not being controlled while performing the attack.
Performing an attack with another figure only happens when the ability says you perform an attack with another figure. None of Emperor, Order Hit, or Executive Order have that.
