Maybe that was kind of misleading, the +1 Sword was more or less a stand in for magic weapons in general.
Magic Weapons

I would treat the basic +1 as nothing more than a superior weapon personally. Simple.
The thing that would take more thought for me would be the magic weapons ability to ignore certain damage resistances. Werewolves and vampires for example. Maybe a new item quality called Enchanted that models this.
Could also do a Bane quality that gives a +10 to critical per point of Bane against a certain type of enemy. Wraithbane, Orcbane, etc.

We have the Wraithbane talent, which reduces the crit rating of the weapon by 1 when attacking undead.
This system doesn't really have damage resistances built into it, although...now you have me thinking about granting some monsters the Reinforced quality innately (Pierce and Breach do not work on them), but allow certain weapon qualities to bypass that.
I think I would try to keep it simple. Maybe just put in their special abilities that they are treated as having the Reinforced quality against physical attacks. Then make both a weapon quality and a material: the quality could be [Something]Bane, with spend ^ ^ to bypass a creature's Reinforced quality (does not work on Reinforced armor)--may be worth choosing a different name to clean up wording, and avoid confusion. The material would grant this effect all the time, but would probably be expensive.
I want to say this isn't necessary for Genesys, but they are age-old fantasy tropes, so...
Star Wars has a quality for the biggest ships called Massive. It increases the Crit rating of attacks against the ship by a number equal to the rating; ie Massive 2 turns an enemy’s Weapons Crit 2 Rating into Crit 4.
Thats something that could be easily applied to suitably tough monsters. A Troll with Massive 2 would really take a lot of beating.
Just throw this out into the mix, Trying to mimic the magic weapon +X isn't really a good idea. One aspect of that you must consider is that in typical d20 systems your hit points (wounds) increase at a significat rate in comparison to the ability to obtain the next higher +X value of a weapon.
Personally, I feel the Superior and Accurate 1 (no higher) qualities to be the best starting point for a 'simple' magic weapon. Beyond those, using existing weapon qualities (of making new ones) and adding Talents into the weapons would be the next step in making 'better' magic weapoins.
Soliciting ideas for a roguish magic item, not necessarily a weapon, the feels sneak attack-y.
What about...
Backstabber:
Enchanted Shortsword, Brawn+2 damage, Accurate 1, Sneak Attack - Upgrade all attacks made with this weapon against an adversary that is not aware of their presence. Sneak Attacks also gain the Vicious 2 quality.
This will encourage the player to stealth about and take cover.... rogue like... and will have a better chance at getting Crits and dealing a few more damage per sneak attack.
Came up with two magic items last night:
Rhindvuthar's Bane (Melee [light]; Damage 4+Brawn; Critical 3; Range [Engaged/Special]; Superior, Vicious 1, Dragonbane (when this weapon is used to make an attack against a dragon, add a Boost die, reduce the critical rating to 1, and gain Pierce 5)--Special: this weapon may be used to make a Melee [light] attack against a dragon at Short range, using the rules for ranged attacks; you may spend 2 Advantage to have the weapon return to your hand after the attack)
Rhindvuthar's Nemesis (Magical Platemail): Defense 1, Soak 3, Encumbrance 5, Dragonfoil (when within Medium range of a dragon, this armor gains the Reinforced quality, and increases the advantage required to activate the Burn quality on opponent's attacks by 2)
