Gunboat^4

By BadMotivator, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I just had an inspired bit of list making during lunch today.

100 points

Nu Squadron Pilot: XG-1, Flechette Cannon, Tractor Beam, Adv Slam: 24 points

Nu Squadron Pilot: XG-1, Ion Cannon, Linked Battery, Long Range Scanners: 24 points

Rho Squadron Vet: Deadeye, Proton Torpedoes, Chips: 26 points

Rho Squadron Vet: Deadeye, Concussion Missiles, Chips: 26 points

Concussion Missiles and Protons because native dice modification plus Chips is good, and counters the stupid Fenn-bug. Deadeye means I can choose targets at will and don't have to worry about Countermeasures/Black One.

Rhos are my damage dealers while the Nus are the control aspect of the list. They can hold the enemy down while the Rho's reload and reposition for another pass.

Nice catch! Worth noting that there is still a reason to want the things.

It's got to be worth a try. Good luck with missile boats - I think you're probably right with the Deadeye/Guidance Chips option. It does mean no 'sustained missile fire' unlike an OS-1, but I figure if you wanted sustained 4-dice fire, then why didn't you buy a cannon? Missiles will need to master hit and run.

So three games with this list.

First game vs triple LRS Harpoon Nu's and QuickDraw. Victory after game went to time, by a rough estimation. Opponent is a very good player, but he made a mistake by flying in formation which made his gunboats predictable.

Second game vs Poe+Wedge+Fenn-bugg. Lost after a couple bad dice rolls on my missiles and he couldn't roll anything less than 3 damage on my gunboats with each shot. Poe did kill himself on a rock though.

3rd game vs Blackout+RAClo with Palp. After the first 3 rounds of combat, RAC was down to 4 hit points and the only damage he'd caused was 2 blinded pilots and a shaken pilot with ISYTDS. We called the game since the store was closing at that point.
