I may not have any WC games in...

But there has been an awakening.

Have you felt it?

HOT **** MATT-SHADOWLORD HAS RETURNED!

I think, it is time for a Vader quote:

This year will be a year long remembered. It has seen the return of @MattShadowlord , and will soon see the return of @clontroper5 .

The WC got really quiet, real quick.

I demand moah games! :D

News:

POD#2 is settled, but Viktor and tgall can play for fun and 3rd place.

POD#3 needs CaribbeanNinja to get his games in. Hedgehog needs a good game against Ninja, and either Ninja to have bad games, or for Ninja to blow out Dupy.

POD#4 has first place decided by the Roquax / Comatose game. A big comatose win (9+) gets comatose into first place. A Roquax win or close loss gets Roquax into first place (5+). BMcDonald holds onto first with a moderate Roquax loss (7/4 gives Roquax 2nd, while 8/3 goes to MOV tiebreakers).

POD#5 is a battle between Darth Veggie and Dr Alex, where Dr Alex just needs a close loss (5+) to hold on. If neither player can schedule the game, and neither concede, RealAdmirals sneaks in with 14 points despite not winning a single game.

POD#6... is more or less settled. Tokra doesn't even need to show up to win the POD, and only Lord Preyor can steal it from him by winning a 10-1 blowout. In fact, that 10-1 blowout or a 9-2 strong win is the only way Ghost doesn't make 2nd place.

POD#7 needs thecactusman7 to play his games. Captain Weather has a strong position, and Maturin needs a big win against cactus and cactus to win big against Weather to sneak into first place.

Dr Alex vs @Darth Veggie is tonight at 2100 GMT. Corvettes, thousands of ‘em!

Next try for it is today 21:30 GMT.

The battle for the POD 2 wooden spoon between myself and @tgall will be Friday night sometime EST.... maybe 8?

Should any strange accident befall both Darth AND the Good Doctor in the next few hours... y'all didn't see me round here, got that?

Darth Veggie went first, played my salvage run and beat me like a drum.

In what was probably the worst I have ever played Armada, including the time I played the intro game on a small table on a canal boat without reading the rules properly, I lost to @Darth Veggie 420-147 (I think anyway). The first time my doom pickle and friends has been tabled and goodness me did I need to work to make it happen.

At the end of turn 1 I had parked my MC80 on a dust cloud blocking it’s whole side arc for the whole game and put one corvette at close range on either side of Admo. Veggie stuck a Rieekan corvette in front of my MC80 sticking it on the dust cloud, then brought up Cham bloody syndulla, who actually worked. It turns out when you are playing a moron that is quite a good card.

I killed the CR90 and a hammerhead and took three salvage run tokens, Veggie got the other and tabled me. I’m pretty sure I have now lost the group completely despite beating @Realadmiralsdoitinspace

oh well, off to the fleet patrol.

Haven't you read the forums...your list can't be beat

Any list can be beat if its Admiral is willing to be this cooperative

I'm working on scheduling games, I've had a rather awkward week for gaming in general. I expect my first game vs @Maturin tomorrow morning.

Greenie Pie vs @Rikash scheduled for Saturday, 10th. Either very early or evening (both GMT), depending on his schedule.

Pod 3 final matches:

Cninja vs. GiledPallaeon Friday 2/2 (evening EST)

Cninja vs. TheMightyHedgeHog Saturday 2/3 (9 AM PST (1700 GMT?)

Cninja vs Dupy was going to take place last night but Dupy needed to reschedule.

I showed up with popcorn and everything to observe. Then I had to watch a MC30 that couldn't hit the broad side of a barn instead.

You're telling me... and more specifically, the broad side of a Neb-B...twice...

I find your lack of double rerolls disturbing.

Cactus vs @Maturin has been paused at the end of turn 3 due to work related issues. We plan to continue soon. Cactus vs @Admiral Theia is tentatively scheduled for tomorrow evening.

@thecactusman17 defeats @Maturin 277-0 for a 9-2 victory. We played his Most Wanted.

While Maturin started off well prepared with a bunch of anti-slicer tomfoolery to ensure he got regular use out of his carriers, he couldn't possibly be prepared for the sheer overwhelming damage of an enraged Avenger captain obliterating his Assault Frigate in a single hail of cannon and missile fire. This enabled the Avenger to then launch its remaining side ordnance at the Admonition, forcing it to lose shields and discard valuable tokens as it tried to flee the oncoming barrage. Admonition then was force to make the ultimate decision that every captain dreads: Staying in range of Avenger for another terrible blow, or fleeing directly into the double-arced jaws of an oncoming Demolisher. Ultimately, the MC30 took a gamble and lost terribly. A Gozanti cruiser directly in front of Demolisher stopped Admiral Motti's advance out of the double arc, and Admonition's copious defenses couldn't withstand 3 broadsides from Demolisher's Assault Proton Torpedoes. While Sato dove forward with Salvation, he couldn't get a clean hit through Demo's shields. Demolisher and Avenger proceeded to blast through Salvation's side shields, then did severe damage to the hull. With time running out and the targeted GR-75 safely out of harm's reach, Sato ordered the Salvation to hyperspace before all hands were lost at the end of round 5, leaving the remaining GR-75 and squadrons incapable of causing enough effective damage to destroy Motti's flagship. With the combat over, Motti pulled his fleet back to a defensible position on the eastern fringe of the system.

Maturin had some mistakes, but played a cagey and effective game that only really succumbed when my dice finally started rolling blistering hot at just the right moment.

I'm looking forward to my upcoming games against @Admiral Theia and @Captain Weather in the next few days, hopefully before the weekend is out.
