3rd Annual Armada Vassal World Cup

Worse, I moved from EMT to Emergency Room Tech so I am never not busy.

I am... Disappointed in how the remaining items were spoiled, especially when. Part of me wants to reset the tournament so we can play woth all the new toys...

But that isn't the right call for a tournament I billed as a Premier event.

I will have more previews up later tonight.

My list really wanted Early Warning.

But then i'd have to drop Intel Officer... so we're good... let's play with the toys we have.

However, the fleet patrol has 48 hours to submit new lists taking the new cards. Why not?

And screw it, anyone that wants in on the fleet patrol can submit a list and play in it. Let's have fun.

Profundity should go up today, right?

I totally support your ruling on this, because I know how much work you've already put in. However, I would totally vote for a fresh reset to the World Cup if you'd like. We're going to go for months drooling over the new stuff in the WC.

Perhaps a limited "adjustment phase" going into eliminations?

Very bad idea. Move along.

I am very, very angry right now, and that is not a good time to make decisions. So I'm not going to make one until I have a good night day's sleep.

In the meantime, informal poll:

##hold the course - This is a Premier event, no changes now that it has started.

##blow it up - Players resubmit lists over "X" days. Tournament is scrapped, restarts after "X+2" days.

Edit: Mafia rules apply. Bold it and hash it or it doesn't count.

Convinced that even being a rebel and blowing up everything isn't always a good idea.

##hold the course

Nothing to see here... move along

##blow it up

Thought I feel cheeky voting this way.

##hold the course

(ugh. I REALLY want to vote blow it up. I WANT the past to die. I WANT to kill it because it feels like we have to. That is the only way for the World Cup to become what it was meant to be. However, that isn't how **** works. We started. We must finish this.)

##hold the course

You've opened Fleet Patrol to anyone. That's enough for now.

##hold the course

As long as I join the fleet patrol :D

##hold the course

It seems wrong to undo all the games that have just been played, and to undo all the practice (and thus time) people may have put into their current lists.

So even we can join the fleet patrol? If I can find time, I may just do that. . . can somebody point me to the format?

@BiggsIRL you have every right to be angry. I think most of us are probably angry/frustrated on your behalf. That said, I think it speaks to your professionalism how you've handled this entire scenario.

##hold the course

As a player with a loss currently, I feel like my vote would be biased. But, I feel a deadline is a deadline. They wouldn't reboot a regional for these previews, and I see the world cup as a regional. Carry on. Your fleet patrol idea covers everyone who wants to try something new.

I approve! Will have it soon!

Wait bold it is a rule? We have been playing wrong the whole time?

Part of me wants to vote blow it up just to see what the new lists would be. The theory crafting output alone would be pretty darn cool and good for us all.

OTOH the TO in me knows that

#hold the course

is probably the right path.

Well you have...

##hold the course it would take me a couple of weeks to figure the new stuff out anyway

##Vote Madaghmire

##hold the course playing with the new stuff seems fun, but I don't want to undo the games that have already been played.

##hold the course

As mentioned by everybody else, as much as I would LOVE to play with all the new stuff. I've been practicing this list for over a month with 2-3 games a week to prep for this tournament.
Not that I don't mind the ensuring chaos from everybody from the fleet lists we would see, but also it would extend the tournament. For me personally, I get less free time as we get closer to spring while right now I have enough to allow me to play with flexibility.

Kudos to you Biggs for asking the community's thoughts.

##blow it up

While the new stuff won't see any competitive play for a few more months the existing lists in the tournament will be less relevant by the day.

If you're going to restart the entire tournament you might as well also adjust the format - perhaps allowing participants to re-do their list after each round (POD, division, semi-final, etc) would both allow for creativity and risk mitigation.
