With all of the bomblets out there, I'm becoming more and more convinced that Ion Cannons are the way to go. I've considered gunboats, but the "hit and fade" has never been my style. I'm much more inclined to run TIE/D Defenders instead.

So, given that, I start with 2 Deltas with TIE/D and Ion Cannons. That's 66 points baseline, leaving me with 34 more. The trouble now with 2 PS1 ships is the alpha strike capabilities of most lists nowadays. Therefore I need a ship that will pull some heat off of them. I think one of the best choices right now for doing this is Captain Kagi. I always want Kagi to move first in order to best use his ability.

So here's the list so far:

Captain Kagi with Enhanced Scopes

X2 Deltas with TIE/D and Ion Cannon

That leaves 6 points. The question is what to do with those 6 points?

Along with the ion control, I think stress control becomes even more potent. So they way I'm leaning now is:

Flechette Cannon and Tactician on Kagi, and MKII on the Deltas. That way I can combine stress and ion while mitigating stress on the Deltas easier.

How would you spend those 6 points?

Anti-pursuit lasers

countermeasures

Mara Jade

Rebel Captive

Systems Officer

Operations Specialist

I could bump both Deltas up to Onyx, or one up to either a Glaive or Ryad or Vessery.

Lots of options. What are your thoughts?

The trouble with your list is that vessery gets burned down by an alpha strike higher than ps7 (you can still put adaptability on him). The shuttle, and specifically Kagi, is there to prevent a defender from dying before it shoots, due to missiles or any long range scanner list.

As I think about it more, I'm leaning towards flechette cannon, tactician, and APL on Kagi, and no MKII on the Deltas.

Or Tractor Beam, Tactician, and Tactical Jammer with MKII on both Deltas.

You perhaps could put a VI Vessery in place of one of the Deltas, and keep Kagi the same. If you went with Ion Vessery, you'd have to run otherwise naked on Kagi, or if you went with Tractor Beam, you could run either Flechette Cannon or Tactician on Kagi. If Vess can hit first with the tractor beam, and all your ships had arc, that'd be pretty painful, particularly if you went with Tactician on Kagi.

The tricky thing with this variant of the list, however, is it might be hard to prime the TL for Vessery, since everyone else moves as PS 0-1.

I always wanted to try Kagi with tractor beam, electronic baffle and general hux in combination with 2 ion Tie Ds. Having a tractor beam or ion cannon shot that cannot be evaded seems like a good thing. Furthermore you'll get some added toughness on the other ships by adding extra for token.

SO this reminds me of a list a fellow from my city flew at last regionals to GREAT effect.

2x Delta Squadron Pilot

TIE/D

Ion Cannon

TIE Mk. II

Cpt. Jonus

LWF

TIE Shuttle

Fleet Officer

Tactician or Systems Officer

Wired

Jonus provides rerolls on the Cannon attacks and an extra focus, allowing either both shots to be focused on leaving a focus for defense. Tactician would provide a modicum of control, while Systems Officer boosts a Delta's primary attack. Its a really savage list to fly against, trust me.
