I think it's gotta be Predator on Chewie. I mean, he cooked that Porg.

Plus, that'll leave you free to have two kinds of mods (Rey-focus and Predator Rerolls) and still take Evade tokens (I'm presuming evade-title).

*edit* OH! Decoy would also work thematically. XD

How would this work with r2 crew as you get assigned the crit from an attack and you turn face down thabks to ability but then ypur turning a hit face up to trigger the crew?

Only when you roll poorly.

Well in a monthly store tourney at Huzzah this list came in 2nd place!

I got a bye the first round but won the next two!

1st game was against a nasty PTL AS Kylo and two Poonboats. Countermeasures didn’t do too much for me, and Chewie got so much pressure on him that I never got to bank that many Rey focuses. That lil blue astromech caused a lot of trouble for the Falcon by flipping a direct hit! and blowing the dang thing up.

But... PS 11 Poe with BB8 and Advanced Optics is real! I was able to finish off the two poonboats and hunt down Kylo for the win, while only losing 1 shield due to a goofy asteroid hit.

Second match was against a PS9 BB8 Poetensity with plasmas and a lean ish VI Han with 3PO and Rey.

This game came right down to the wire. His ships just couldn’t bring down Chewie! And R2-D2 came through regen-ing about 5 shields over the course of the match.

Chewie igniting crits also helped. This game also, Chewie has too much pressure on him and his Rey bank ran out pretty quickly. Being forced to take evades to stay alive, plus some hot-ish dice made for a very exciting end: He needed to put 2 damage on Chewie, (down to 1 hull and 1 shield) Han rolled poorly and then Poe and Chewie brought Han down to 4 Hull. Chewie added a second shield from R2-D2.

Then Han put 2 damage on Chewie thanks to R2-D2 the Wookiee stayed in it. His Poe shot through debris and came up blank blank focus. My Poe put 3 hull on Han and Chewie managed to push through the final damage ... thanks to Predator!

i don’t think this list is uber competitive, but it’s hard as nails. And PS11 Poe with a banked focus was often firing fully modded shots with TLs.

I think countermeasures is worth the investment when you've got a significant ability to modify the 'extra' die. Rey will get much more mileage out of it than Chewbacca.

Running out of focus tokens - I guess the problem with Kylo and Gunboats is that they're pretty darn fast; if they want to pounce before you can build up a stock of tokens, they can - your only way to stay out of their clutches is to boost, but that eats your action anyway....

I’m not so sure. Flipping crits face down was awesome, especially against the poon boats and Kylo’s Darkside didn’t impress the Wookie much.

Now picture adding Determination on Rey, too ...

I LOVE thematic lists like this! Poe is excellent, though I personally like using FAA on Poptics rather than BB-8, so I am less inclined to greens.

Chewie with Rey is great! However, Expertise/Rey is redundant. I second the above suggestion to use Predator. I also think you could ditch EU and instead get countermeasures and Smuggling Compartment/Scavenger Crane. That Chewie has reroll/Focus/Evade/Regen every turn, and can countermeasure when necessary, maybe multiple times!

I’m seriously considering this list for regionals.

The only tweaks to consider would be to Countermeasures & scavenger crane or Engine Upgrade?

CM’s advantages are well known and don’t need much in the way of convincing for me. Scavenger crane never worked for me because Chewie either died first, or nobody was killed in range. Not sure if that upgrade is better than say burn out slam or cargo chutes.

Engine Upgrade is interesting because it saves another point for a 3 point bid and lets Chewie boost around to be a blocker for higher PS ships (at the expense of an evade token) and to arc dodge low PS ‘poon boats.

Maybe with all the ‘poon business, CM is the right call? But I love the idea of boosting Chewie into someone’s face to block their ace, or to arc dodge the low PS ships.

Rigged Cargo can be a good add. Chewie dont care about arc anyways, and that can really mess someone up, and double stress them. Good counter versus chewies brothers, the wookiee gunships, and Miranda, etc.

Is there any logic to considering a Torpedo on Poe? Sounds like he's able to TL a fair amount, and while the extra die on a Plasma doesn't always do more work than a TL to spend on rerolls, denying the R3 bonus and stripping an extra shield can. Alternately, Flechette Torpedo can mess up aces if used at the right time.

Flechette, CM and a 1-point Illicit would still allow a 1 point bid, if I'm mathing right.

1 point bid seems too risky to losing to PS11 Imperial alpha strike, though I like the idea of Poe packing some heat.

What list archetypes should I watch out for?

As is, this list is designed to shut down alpha strikers,and Chewie can tank a bunch of damage as well as shut down crit lists (Kylo etc).

Swarms will probably give it trouble but they are rare enough.

Thoughts?

Tanky lists like Quad Wookiees and stress control lists with stress Ezra, etc. If chewie drops you have to kill 3 wookiees to win and that aint happening. Stress lists can make Poe have a hard time, not BB8 or boosting, letting full mod shots lay into him and he cant kturn or anything. Deadeye alphas could be back since Poe is a thing. Deadeye Concussion Gunboats and Deadeye, R4 Kimos could be nasty.

Stuff with lots of HP to chew through. You only have 2 3-die attacks per round, so it'll take a while to whittle stuff down.

I took the list with CM and Scavenger Crane out for a spin on Vassal last night. I made pretty quick work of a janky Thweek list.

Chewie’s PS 5 actually seems to be more of a strength than a weakness. He is a big blocky beast! To use a 40k analogy, Chewie is a “distraction Carnifex” that opponents have to deal with. But he’s also tough as nails. I even got the sweet R2-D2 regen where the Falcon list shields but had not gotten into hull yet.

Instead of 13 hp, this baby is closer to 16-17 hp with regen, and immune to crits (unless R2 poops the bed)

I’m 99% certain I taking this to Regionals. Getting pretty stoked about it actually.

I'm going to try something like this against my buddy this weekend. Looks fun and I love Chewie. I'm leaning towards an Intensity Poe since PS11 isn't much of a thing in my meta. Although it is far less thematic I think this is what I'm going to run. Gives Chewie lots of options for boosting/focus(2x)/evade) And playing Poetensity I find that Comm Relay gives more bang for the buck than adv optics
