Spicy Karsabi Chips

By HanScottFirst, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I feel like Karsbi's ability was meant to make them the premier XG-1 Title pilot...Only problem is the best build I could come up with is 37 points...

Lieutenant Karsabi (24)
Wired (1)
Linked Battery (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Advanced SLAM (2)
XG-1 Assault Configuration (1)

Total: 37

Slam, focus, stress. Still shoot HLC w/a reroll and focus (for LW Dash players that seems familiar, and is often 4 hits). And wired allows you to reroll (focus) on defense, and/or offense if you spent your focus. Hopefully wired would chip in an evade or two over the course of game, that's probably more than you could statistically ask, but even just 1 is great for a 1 point EPT.

Not sure what to round out the squad with, maybe something like this:

Lieutenant Karsabi (24)
Wired (1)
Linked Battery (2)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Advanced SLAM (2)
XG-1 Assault Configuration (1)

Nu Squadron Pilot (18)
Tractor Beam (1)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
Long-Range Scanners (0)
XG-1 Assault Configuration (1)

Darth Vader (29)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)
TIE/x1 (0)

Total: 99

There is debate as to whether Karsabi's ability can be used with Advanced SLAM, since the timing of the stress token is alleged to be before the ASLAM action, thus preventing that action from being possible.

hmmmm.... Did not think of that, good point! Reading the SLAM action reference card, that would seem to be the case. You get the weps disabled as part of the SLAM action, which means you get stress from Karsabi's ability as part of the SLAM action. So no advanced SLAM :/ Well that's a bummer!

On the other hand: if the weps disabled token, Karsabi's ability, and adv SLAM all trigger at the same time, the person could choose which order to do it in. That seems less likely though.

37 points isn't all that bad - I for, one, as a rebel player, would consider that a steal lol.

However, ditching Adv. SLAM because of the muddled functionality would be effective.

Vader is always a solid wingmate. The Nu is nice, though an OS-1 variant could also work, as could Omega Leader!
