You sir, have an incredible 3D printer.

Oh, I wish! This is printed from Shapeways in their highest quality plastic material, frosted extreme detail (FXD) Their printers are tens of thousands of dollars.

Oh. Ok. Still impressive.

Today I painted a 3D printed TIE Protector :D

I think you broke your Defender...

Well, sort of, but I really like the EU description of the Protector. It's basically a Defender stripped down to being an interceptor with shields.

A special variant for flying around the inside of giant super-laser space stations.

No fear of low overhead clearance.

I love the BTL-B Y-wing. Do you get a lot of these models 3D-printed then?

Who remembers the TIE Experimental line from X-Wing Alliance? :D

OMG, I am unworthy.

This YV!

And painting on TIE wings is a real pain (I made mining TIEs), so this FO

Why is it difficult?

I have a queue of TIEs to do and I want to do a mining TIE too

All of the bumps for the solar panels makes it difficult to keep the design straight

Mine have been a work in progress for 408 days (as of 02/14/2018).

Ahh, 2 very good points. Thanks guys, will remember.

So that should mean a white primer coat will help with the yellow right? Or black primer but a light grey base coat for the yellow?

Depends on how bright you want that yellow to be. The white will give you the brightest yellow.

Maybe do some tests on a piece of scrap to see what looks best.

Edited by Force Majeure

I wish I had started with white, in retrospect, because making the yellow vivid enough takes several coats. There's also the general pain of working with black next to yellow, especially when it comes to freehanding the mining guild logo on the bumpy TIE panels.

Boom. Nuff said

Yellow sucks all around. In my experience Tamiya brand paint sucks just a little less than Citadel brand...

I'd love to see a video where you detail or how-to every step of your painting process, your finished jobs are superb!

I promise that I'm working on it! I've posted the short display videos on my YouTube channel because I've been working on basic video editing (which I know nothing about) so that I can be more successful when I go for full tutorial videos <3

I finished the TIE Protector video :D

I see through the lies of FFG Paint schemes! really nice job on all of these, great job on the videos too

The TIE Phantom you did with the red lightning effect cloak, absolutely amazing. It honestly looks real, and the transition to black space with stars. You must do tutorials for everything!!!!! :D Great job, stuff like this doesn't put me down, it gives me hope and inspiration to continue with my own!

Thanks for sharing :)

It's hard working from such a teeny image, but I think Alien Luxury Miniatures did a good job with the render! I only paint the ships ^_^;

What are y'all calling this ship from the Solo movie? I'm thinking the TIE "Heavy"

The TIE Sidecar.

Great work Light Craft.

Having said that:

It looks like a conjoined twin that didn't fully develop.
