Resistance Bomber is wrong size

By Vontoothskie, in X-Wing

saw the movie (which I recommend you do not), Resistance bombers are similar in mass to a VCX100. X-wings entire wingspan is narrower than the upper hulls cylinder section.

Kylos ship is ironically oversized. hoping for a 1/270 scale version from shapeways soon

Who cares.. Can you imagine trying to play with the model if it were a similar size to a ghost? We already complain about the Ghost being unwieldy, the Bomber's ordnance silo would be huge at that scale, and it would be a nightmare trying to move around the board without bumping it.

They screwed up the dial too. It should only have a green one forward, and red one banks.

Resistance bomber: length 29.67 meters, width 15.3 meters, height/depth 21.65 meters.

VCX-100: length 43.9 meters, width 34.2 meters, height/depth 14.5 meters.

The TIE Silencer model in XWM has also been confirmed to match the dimensions we've seen on Wookieepedia pretty closely.

How authoritative is wookiepedia though?

i haven’t seen the film yet so I cannot comment on how they look in size yet but I am suspect of a third party webpage gathering stats that do not seem to be available elsewhere.

Honestly, if the scale is close it doesn’t bug me all that much. I’m having fun pushing plastic spaceships around, not going for a full to scale diorama or museum piece.

The Silencer is like 15 mm longer than it should be based ont he length listed in the star wars database (17.43m IIRC)

I was wondering when someone was going to bring this up. The outside shots made the bomber look huge but the scenes from the interior made the model size look reasonable.

very odd

It's always looked right to me. *shrug*

Lots of ships are the wrong size. The TIE/fo and TIE/ln have the same size X-Wing miniature, even though the TIE/fo is 75% the size of the TIE/ln . I don't own a T-65 for comparison, but I think the T-70 model is larger than the T-65 even though it's a meter shorter. I wouldn't worry about it. I mean, the A-wing changes size in RotJ depending on if you're looking at the cockpit set, the filming model, or the matte painting backdrops.

Weird, I thought Star Wars fans would be so much easier to please. <eyes roll violently out of skull>

Well they are the same size as VCX-100, Lancer Class Pursuit Craft, VT-49 Decimators, YV-666, U-wings and YT-2400 in them all being on a large base. ;)

if you check the citations, you'll notice they come from The Last Jedi Visual Dictionary and The Last Jedi Incredible Cross Sections, which are both official products. so as authoritative as you can get.

Better than the Scurrg, which is supposed to be roughly the size of the Falcon and larger than a YT2400... yet isn’t

The TIE/fo is smaller than the TIE/ln, and more compact as far as the models go. I'm fairly sure the T-70 X-wing miniature is a little wider and longer than the T-65 one, but that is from memory. The A-wing is a whole mess, but the mini is in line with the new scale they have set moving forward.

I disagree. I love it and I think it's perfect size!

Me, I really hate it when thy do not get the scale right.

Yeah, I was looking at it and I think it's probably about right... if anything it might be slightly too big if you think about the height of the shaft that ladder goes up.

So... do you hate Epic ships then? Only 2-3 are actually to scale.

Given that the RZ-2 is supposed to be derived from the RZ-1's prototype (the R-22) - but stretched - it is possible that they may end up retconning the A-Wing from its current 9.6m length, to something slightly shorter than the RZ-2's 7 and a bit metres long.

It's possible that the ships in Rebels (more consistent with the 9.6m figure) are going to end up being outliers - with the movie A-wings being made the norm.

Well contrary to the normal format Epic was never expected to be in scale. That left aside I really love the Gozanti for being in scale.

One of the things that annoyed me about the Rogue One Visual Dictionary - was creating a new size for TIEs (7.24m long) , after a lot of material had already come out using the 8.99m TIE as a starting point.

By changing the size of the TIE (without changing any of its proportions) they effectively made every single model based on the TIE ball cockpit, too large.

Why? It has no negative effect on the game at all. If the scale is different in this game its usually for a legitimate reason. Not to mention most of the info regarding ship's dimensions on the web are bogus, or at least without proper evidence to back them up, anyway.

I don't care, I'm not buying that thing anyways.

Well, probably not...

Cause I do.

Solid argument.
