Game mechanic question

By ImperialOfficer, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

If you have an ability that allows you to perform two attacks, can you play hit and run in between them?

For example, on old Vader, Brutality - it's 1 action to perform two attacks. Can you play hit and run on the first attack, and then run to another enemy for the next attack?

thanks,

Good question! The trick here is that Brutality is a Special Action. You're supposed to resolve both attacks within the confines of that action, and then finish that action completely before doing another action. The Hit and Run Command card is also a Special Action... so you wouldn't be able to do that while you were in the middle of the Brutality Special Action.

Additionally, you can only spend movement points before or after performing an action. This is why when Vinto uses Rapid Fire, he can't spend movement points between his two attacks (even if he plays Opportunistic after his first attack to gain movement points).

Gotch ya. Makes sense. Appreciate the response. Just looking around at things that jump out based on the most current expansion.

Thanks.

Hit and Run and Brutality are both special actions, so you can't use them both at the same time.

You can, for example, activate the AT-DP, use action 1 for Hit and Run, attack, then do the 3 movement as part of the special action (or lose those movement points, they don't carry over), then use your 2nd action to attack.

No prob! If you have any more questions, you can ask here or in the Rules subform.

That's pretty slick, actually. :D

Movement points gained during activation can be spent at anytime during that activation, except during a special action. So the points gained should be able to be used before or after the second attack.

Hit and Run is a special action...

Yes and you get to do an attack and then gains 2 movement points, and since they are gained during your activation, you can use them at anytime.

If I am wrong in this case, feel free to quote the rule, that I am missing-

@GilDK: From the Rules Reference Guide, Page 3:

In particular: "If movement points are gained as part of a special action, they must be spent immediately during that action."

In the case of Hit and Run, you perform the special action. The first part of the special action has you perform the attack. Then you spend the 2 movement points and the special action ends. If you don't spend the 2 movement points within the special action timing window, they're lost.

This rule about movement during special actions was one of the first ones in the game where I went "huh?" So I understand the confusion.

Similarly, Urgency must all be spent at once.

Well then, that will teach me to just check the rulebook ;-)

Thanks
