Would this admiral make any sense?

By Coldhands, in Star Wars: Armada

Funny, but this idea of admiral came to my mind in my dream during the weekend. I'm curious if you find It any usefull, but feel free to comment any Thoughts. So its text:

During executing manuever step, you may reduce your yaw value by 1 to a minimum of 0 at a joint. If you do so, you may increase yaw value at a different joint by 1 to a maximum of 2.

No specific admiral came to my mind, so no name, and im not sure of its actual usefullness, id put It in low twenty points zone(It has some uses, opens up a lot of movement options). So, thoughts?

I like it.

rebel or imperial?

plus I'd put a max speed &/or take a damage

Really I have no idea, probably Imp, they lack agility, it could be usefull for rebels too.

Really it depends. Imps lack agility that is true, however it fts best with the rebel hit and run tactcs. Honestly flip a coin lol.

Pretty cool idea. It would make an Imp fleet a lot more manoeuvrable. But perhaps some ships (good old Demolisher) would be way too overpowered.

What I like about this is that, unlike Madine or Ozzel, it gives you the added flexibility all the time and not just when you navigate. Imps already have that in Jerry, though, he costs, so I'd suggest this would give Rebels a good, different alternative. Would help me move Libs around, too, that blank second slot on speed 3 drives me crazy sometimes.

Note: should probably read "determine course step," just to drill down into the maneuver order of operations.

I think it’s a good fit for the Rebellion.

Maybe it could be for Commander Tohna? He was a helmsman before being promoted to commander. Makes sense he could get the most out of a ship for turning.

This is actually a really good idea. I could see it being handy on both sides. Though I think if I had preference I'd put it on the Imperials side. JJ is great, but there are games where that 1 damage can matter, and sometime I need that Yaw elsewhere. I could see this making ships like the Arquitens easier to maneuver without sacrificing the con-fire.

Very cool idea, PLAY TEST IT!

What about a Support upgrade?

There are lots of ships that don't often fill the slot, and most only ever take Engine Techs when they do.

Nebs, CR90s, or Arqs would really benefit from it, but the slot balances it on things like Demolisher or Liberties who can't take it and ETs.

I agree, a support upgrade would be much better. As an admiral it would probably be too good. If you remove one click from the last joint and put it on the first one your ship suddenly takes a much tighter turn. Especially with high speed ships this would be brutal. It would be either OP or too highly costed as an admiral. But as a support team it would be a great choice to add some agility to a chosen ship in exchange for another versatile slot. Or make it an officer upgrade and you can put it on every(?) ship!

The more I think about it the more I like the idea as an upgrade card :) But how many points? 5-6 maybe? It gives you a lot of extra agility after all.

I’d play the **** outta this Admiral lol

It shouldn't cost more than 20 points though. I really like the idea overall.

Not support or commander, this belongs on a unique officer. Give the ability to a single ship, potentially very powerful but still limited to one ship. As an admiral or support slot, you run the risk of every ship getting those benefits and silly, yet very fun, maneuvers ensue. The support slot would be more expensive to equip across the board but still doable. Would anyone really want a swarm of cr-90s suddenly changing up all their moves on a whim. Very ugly. Maybe limit it to medium and/or large bases only to indicate expertise with bigger ships that most don't have. Love the overall idea

If the card is expensive enough it wouldn't be an issue. You can't put a 5-6 points card on a CR90 swarm, it makes the ships too expensive. And you wouldn't be able to field as many of them.

I think this sounds like a fair enough idea for an admiral, especially with a Medium and Large only limitation. You could possibly leave it as a neutral admiral with a generic name such as "Veteran Admiral"?
