AT-ST Mortar

By Jabby, in Star Wars: Legion

So the Spanish card says “fuego de contenćion” ( i think) so i google translated it and it came up with “fire from containment” which I take to mean “containing fire” or “suppressive fire”. If anyone can read the effect I would be grateful.

Maybe indirect fire? no LOS required?

I believe that it means that the weapon gives out a suppression token, even if it does no damage.

Im pretty sure that you give supression even if you do no damage anyway. Maybe it gives out another supression in top

It could be that. Interestingly the range on the card suggests you can shoot at anything over range 4

In other games, mortar weapons have a minimum fire range, to mimic the firing arc of mortars. That may explain being able to target units over range 4.

I think you might be right. It translates to:

Containment fire: After you perform an attack, the defending unit receives 1 Suppression token.

I'm guessing that the usual Suppression token is placed during the attack action, and as this states this happens after the attack it is in fact an additional Suppression token. Either that or the guy demoing the game in the video above got it wrong and Suppression tokens are only usually placed if any damage is inflicted.

Maybe suppression usually is only inflicted when hits are rolled regardless of saving throws. This could mean the mortar suppresses even when he rolls only blanks (in contrast to other units)
