@borithanWell they aren't really close range assault troops. When they expect longer range encounters they will just equip DLT-19s, which seems to be the rifle to the E-11's carbine on screen. It's sad that SW:L portraits theese things as SAWs instead of ,for example, the RT-97c.

But being mainly employed as occupation forces in urban environments or aboard stations and starships it's only logical for the stormtroopers to use the E-11 way more often.

DLT-19's did seem to have the same use as a squad support weapon though, so it seems fair enough for game purposes.

" It featured a high rate of fire and could deal heavy damage at long ranges, and was most commonly used for pinning down troops and eliminating large groups of enemies"

Meanwhile, the E11 (which was a rifle, not a carbine at least in Star Wars lore):

"The E-11 blaster rifle was a light but powerful blaster rifle manufactured by BlasTech Industries. It served as the standard issue weapon of Imperial stormtroopers, and was based on the DC-15A blaster used by clone troopers during the Clone Wars."

If the E-11 was standard issue, and the DLT was a high ROF suppression and automatic weapon....seems spot on really.

@ExtropiaYeah, kind of based my impression on the relation between the DC-15 and its A version in the GAR (which wasn't necessarily carried on into the imperial forces) and it's inflationary use in outside shots of the OT (mostly tatooine sand troopers). I agree that I could be really wrong, but I would really hate having multiple LMG type weapons in the imperial forces which care so much about standardization and monotonous aesthetic.
