Help with Airbrush selection

By Dardenator, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Hey guys,

I have seen your awesome pics and it has inspired me to get into painting more of my ships, and in all honesty I want to get proficient at painting for the upcoming Legion release.

Here is my dilemma. I have tried to research this and haven’t had much luck. I really would like to buy an Airbrush kit to start with, that comes with an Airbrush, compressor with tank that’s fairly quiet, and all the hoses and everything needed. As far as paint I don’t care about that I can purchase that separate. My problem is I don’t know what to get... can you guys help me narrow my search down?

I would like to get something relatively inexpensive but I don’t want to cheap out and regret it later either.

thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I would not recommend you get anything cheaper than a Iwata Neo or a Badger Patriot 105. Those 2 are very good airbrushes to start out with but anything cheaper than that is is not going to be good.

I've been looking into getting an airbrush for a while now myself , still haven't pulled the trigger but have been doing a bit of research, and so far the most helpful thing I've found is this thread on LAF:

NEO Air airbrush is what I use. You can get them at hobby stores and sometimes they (the airbrush and compressor) come bundled. I bought mine for roughly $175 with a certain 40% coupon. Works fine and does come with three colors, red, blue, and yellow. I would also suggest getting a cleaning kit alongside it. The Iwata one is $30, and it will clean all Iwata products. (In case you ever want to upgrade.)
