I'd expect Advanced Optics to pair neatly with Debris Gambit on non-evade ships (QD and Kylo, particularly), but running PS9s without VI is asking for problems in the current meta.
In my experience so far, Advanced Optics is one of the real stars of this wave.
Kylo needs that reposition a lot more often than QD though. Kylo is flying a very different game, darting in and out of combat at high speeds, using boost to swing back around. Quickdraw doesn't need that reposition as often because she can slow roll to keep a wide arc, while also threatening a 4 straight to shoot past, and use the rear arc.
Combating PS10-11 is an issue, but not impossible. Now QD is a blocker, denying the optimal moves, while usually still having a shot on someone. It's not impossible, but takes some work.

I know you get another green should anyone shoot through another bomber, but why would I not focus on the closest one? It's not that there's another prime target hiding just behind the bomber I desperately want to down first.
So you arnt trying to focus one down to get a turret off the board, after the wounded ship hides behind another? Interesting.

I've definitely looked at that combo on Quickdraw, making a very, very tanky Quickdraw.

In this particular case, most likely I won't. These are 12 hitpoints per ship, which are obviously hard to whittle down. But then again, there is next to no threat coming back from them, since there is almost no focus on offense, meaning that ships with autothrusters especially are quite safe on average.
With crossfire formation, the advantage you get from hiding is too large, throwing off priority targeting- that is correct. But without sincere retailiation, there is no true primary target one has to deal with. Once you wrap your head around the fact that you're not going to seriously damage obscured targets at long range, to pick targets of opportunity is a natural conlcusion.
Don't get me wrong, I like the ability to go all for defense on these bombers, but without good options to get red dice off the board and the ship obviously not being made for arc-dodging, I'd suggest not to forgo bombs just because of crossfire formation. Especially because you'll likely need to weather off multiple attacks on a single ship, Advanced Optics may even hinder you at times.
Just a thought though, to be constructive with the idea of a fun defensive bomber squad- why not hide the Moldy Crow behind three of these B/SF-17s, giving out the focus tokens? Might even be points left for some annoying bomblets or something. Or put a squirrely T-70 in, like Jess Pava, to synergize in a fluffy way. (I'm just spitballing non-competitevely, of course.)
Edited by DampfGeckoAlright today I've got two games and I use this :
5x Omega squadron pilot (17) : Advanced Optics (2), Crack shot (1)
Total : 100 pts
First game was against Poe Dameron and Rey and the second 1x Nu squadron and 2x Glaive with x7 title
I both win the game (with a little hot dice) with only one omega down for each game...
Advanced optics is far more useful than Comm Relay and it's easy how to keep a focus token and be tanky with a evade token or have a better shot with barrel roll.
Or do a k-turn or s-turn without any fear or remorse.
Or successful bump a enemy ship (especially x7) and shoot it down!
I more excited to play with tie/fo again and Epsilon Leader and some folks could be very nasty.
Cleary Tie/Fo and T-70 will rise... Until Hot Shot Copilot become popular again....
I tried Kylo for the first time a few days ago and used Adv Optics. I definitely underestimated that card. I knew it would be good (great on Poe), but i wasn't convinced myself until I tried it. Saving that focus allows Kylo to do all the necessary maneuvers/repositions he needs to. If he doesn't need to reposition, just TL. There were plenty of turns I didn't spend the focus and turns after that I wanted to either double reposition or K/Talon that I've become a fan of Adv Optics.
I took PS 11 Advanced Optics BB-8 Poe out for a ride in a store tournament. It’s amazing.

Omega Ace with Optics seems like a fun Accuracy Corrector.

Add in two TIE/SF, each with Debris Gambit and it can be fun.

I'm going to have to have a talk with your Rey/Poe opponent. ![]()

Nope, BB-8 Poe for the (local kit, means nothing) win!

Hey, there were two Regionals winning players in a field of 18, neither of whom made the cut.

He played good but knowing well your friend/opponent is easy to predict his move and bump it. ![]()
