So I've got my weekly game with my son this Saturday, and finally decided to break out my Upsilon. First time flying Kylo and wanted to go with something thematic. Not quite sure how much use I'll get out of the title, but we shall see. This list is not min/maxed to the hilt, and doesn't need to be, but I thought it couldn't hurt to take advantage of other people's experiences with this ship. Any thoughts?

Opportunist has always seemed a little weak to me. It's a lot of points for something which might not trigger. I've been thinking about the consistency and power of getting Crack Shot on an Omega Squadron Pilot with Weapons Guidance. Or just go Crack Shot, and no other upgrades. If you could trim enough points from Kylo, 3 Omegas with fewer upgrades might be better than two heavily loaded TIEs.

Holy mother that's a lot of stress on Kylo. Is it too much? Rebel Captive might be counter-productive. You kind of want people to attack Kylo, so that he can trigger his ability. Plus, you want him to die first. If you've got Kylo vs half their list, Kylo probably loses, since he doesn't fly as well as other ships. Maybe stress from Rebel Captive keeps him viable. I'm leery however. I'd probably just use the title, and put the rest of the points elsewhere in the list. It'd diversify the threats Kylo poses.

Personally, I haven't been a huge fan of FCS on an Upsilon: it seems great on paper, but on the table it's kind of hard to keep arc, even with Engine Upgrade. I'd be more inclined to follow the Weapons Guidance route, and invest in that. WG with either multiple focus tokens (Recon Specialist) or soft-focus methods (A Score To Settle, for example). Next, you'd want something which would allow you to take actions on red moves: Advanced Sensors, Pattern Analyzer, or Electronic Baffle.

Here's what I'd fly:

Kylo (A Score to Settle, [Electronic Baffle or Pattern Analyzer+Collision Detector], Weapons Guidance, KRS-title) 39 or 40 points

3x Omega Squadron Pilot (Crack Shot, Weapons Guidance) 20 each

or

Kylo ([choice of 0 point Elite], Advanced Sensors, Tactician, Recon Specialist, Weapons Guidance, KRS-title) 46 points

3x Omega Squadron Pilot (Crack Shot) 18 each

i love flying the Upsilon. It's a cool looking ship that can really deal out some damage AND handles much better than the Lambda. I've flown my version of the "Knights of Ren" list and put some pain on the table. However, once they get behind you, it can be a little tricky to get them back in arc. The best thing to do is knock out as much as you can on the first engagement and swing back around.

OK.. based on the suggestions from both of you, this is what I'm currently looking at. Unfortunately, I only had two Crack Shots so I decided to shoot some missiles instead. I did like the idea of the three fighters with that upgrade, so I guess I'm going to have to put another copy of Crack Shot on my buy list. Anyway, compare this to the previous list and let me know if you think its an improvement, or a downgrade.
