So now that all of first cycle dynasty packs are out, the meta will stir and settle once all the hardcore players test and play and figure it out.
The question is when will the next expansion pack be? A year's time? does anyone know?

As in the next dynasty pack? I would guess mid to late january or early february. It really depends on how long they want the Imperial cycle steep before moving onto the next cycle. They may also drop a deluxe box before the next cycle. Time will tell, and more than likely, something will be announced in the next couple of weeks, possibly after Christmas.
I'd expect at least March or April before the next cycle starts myself.
My bet is February for deluxe and maybe end of March/beginning of April for the next cycle.
Generally speaking, FFG tends to announce things pretty far in advance, often between 4-6 months in advance. The 'six packs in six weeks' thing is definitely not their normal way of doing things; as such at this stage I think until we get an announcement it's all guess work (particularly depending on whether it was planned to be done early in development, or they decided to do it later on).
Realistically, I can't see them not doing something reasonably quickly, as it would defeat the point of doing the increased schedule for the first cycle. I'd except some kind of announcement in the near future, but whether it'll be the second cycle or a deluxe feels like it would just be guesses at this point (ignoring rumors from people potentially in the know).
I dont mind lore fills while waiting.
To keep the brand relevant, they'll need regular releases. This isn't a Star Wars product, where the IP stays relevant in peoples' minds without any need to advertise. I'm going to keep up with L5R whether they release soon or not, as are, I'd assume, most of the people dedicated enough to bother posting on the forums. But the game needs a healthy casual audience to sell well, and they'll probably want to see that this game is alive and regularly releasing before dipping their toes in. I think that them releasing something by the end of Q1 2018 is a pretty reasonable timeframe (if it's Clan Packs, it could even only be the first one or two, but I'm REALLY hoping for a deluxe box [for a clan I actually play, of course :P]).
There's no point getting 6 packs out that quickly and then let the meta stagnate for 6 months...
We should be hit with a Deluxe in January and the 2nd cycle should begin in February to be out by GenCon. Which would be perfect for a genCon-release of the 2nd Deluxe box.

Imho the main reason for the 6 packs was to open up deckbuilding (or just enable it, if we consider the dinasty deck), not really for the "meta".
Considering that we received no news yet, and that the lore side will be on hold during the winter break (as per latest official info), I don't expect any release in January. If the Deluxe box will be about Mantis, then I foresee the new pack cycle starting in February, with that deluxe released at the end of it. If the box will be about an existing clan (or clans, as I hope they will focus on storyline instead of a single faction), it may be the first release of 2018 in February, with the second cycle starting in March.

Yeah, but not a Deluxe, just a clan pack instead. So next thing will be a new cycle, or a Deluxe introducing a new faction?
Why are people convinced Deluxe boxes are coming at all for L5R?
Leaks from disreputable sources and unwavering devotion to "that's how they've done it before."
I think Deluxes will come, but they might use a different format.
The clan packs show they are trying out different things.
They will probably be more story based similar to Terminal Directive.
They will probably have cards from 2-4 factions and focus on a story event. Maybe 1 or 2 Conflict cards from the other factions as well.

Because Deluxe Boxes mean another way of making money, and FFG likes money.

The day they stop liking money, it's the day the close the doors. :X
In any case, no need to worry too much about what they will release and what they won't.
Deluxes could be a powerfull way of chance the meta based on story. It could be so that only last deluxe could be playable and deluxe rotates out immediately when new deluxe get released. That would be really nice!
the L5R is different From other games because of that strong story element and story elements really would be easier to include to the game by using deluxes or new core boxes and in that case new deluxe Sounds more plausible.
Also in the other games the meta has been very stagnated because of too Little rotation, the L5R could chance that too.

Because not having deluxe expansions would be a change from every other LCG. I'm inclined to assume that things will be the same until presented with compelling evidence otherwise.

"Somewhere between a Dynasty Pack and the deluxe expansions found in our other Living Card Games"
I expect Clan Packs are a way for them to do what they did with other deluxe sets in the past, but avoid the whole factional stuff, and instead focus on themes divided evenly across clans, or add entirely new concepts (See Mantis, Shadowlands), while not 'favoring' a particular clan.

My guess is FFG will release the Dynasty and Clan packs on an ongoing basis (as expected) but will have another expansion format that is the same size as the Clan packs. Maybe Ring Packs?.. with primary focus on an Element.
That would make up for having a Deluxe every 6 months and smaller packs like Arkham Horror.
I heard randomly that it was mentioned Clan packs will be releasing at 3-month gaps?

Yes, exactly, the deluxe expansions found in “our other Living Card Games”
Others not being L5R

I hope not I'm currently trying to figure out if I want to continue with l5r and the release schedule of these packs is probably the biggest thing I'm waiting to hear on
Actually, they make more money per card from the new Clan packs and regular Dynasty packs than from Deluxe boxes (although there are production costs associated to each product).
