I am highly considering making a "Proof of Concept" Dash Rendar fan film. It does take time and resources.
The basic plot:
An Old Dash is drinking at a bar and a mysterious stranger comes in and tries to recruit him for the Resistance. He declines giving a monologue (with flashbacks) about the events of Shadows of the Empire, giving an honest version of the events that is a bit different than the novel/video game. He truly did miss the missile that destroyed the Bothan's ships and in the end he ran from the Skyhook battle. (Maybe how he got lucky with the swoop bikes). Pretty much Dash reflecting how when he was young his mouth was bigger than his skill set. As the stranger departs s/he stops at the door and says something like your old partner Vrill is alive. Then exits. Dash turns an object around on the bar revealing Leebo's head asking it one last job.
Most of it is meant to be done cheaply and time effectively on my behalf. I love the character of Dash, and I want to give him more meat than the "Han Solo" clone Gary Stu that has been established. After that do a Dash fan mini-series of 4 or 5 webisodes if a kick starter is successful.
Would you want to watch this yay/nah?
Dash Rendar short fan film
Always a fan of fan (no pun intended) films, looking forward to watching it if this works!
Now it gives me even more doubt after watching The Last Jedi. Too similar of direction for a certain character.
