I found that the lure of the force power is not enough to draw the players/characters to continue the pursue....

My group started questioning things around Act 2. "Why would we ever want this power, look at all the damage he had caused."
Our GM ran us through this starting a little over a year ago. I turned the last bits of it on Arbooine into A Christmas Carol .
I feel like this is a general problem in my F&D campaign. Players kinda fall into a 'well we got things pretty good' vibe and its hard to convince them to go adventuring without the promise of loot and reward, and even then it better be worth it.
Without a mechanic to say 'you have to', it feels a lot like convincing players in an MMO to do dungeon runs.
Sounds like there is a simple solution... talk to the players and ask them if they still see any reasonable motivation (what are their "Motivations" noted as anyway?) for their characters to not retire. If they come up with solutions, good, else, have them retire.
Beyond that however you can always look at the motivations on their sheets and try to grab them at those. There is also the option to do the series "Season 2" or movie sequel thing... Have some time pass and then introduces a new scenario with all new problems as a premise. All of that however only if they actually WANT to continue (it is not your job to motivate them, but everyones).

Adventure is always part desire and part fate, your Player's desire may be to go sit on a beach but Fate may have other plans for them...
As for why just present it as either they get it or some BBG does. Or maybe a BBG already does have it and the only way to stop them is to learn about it...

Each of the crystals is a kyber crystal. So basically worth 10,000 credits a piece. Motivation enough for your group?
Though to be honest, my groups main motivation was just to clean up the mess …
