Scale opinon on AT ACT

By VAYASAN, in Star Wars: Legion

what are your opinions on scale/size of this? Looks a bit small I think(like far too small?)

Star Wars™ Imperial AT-ACT™ Cargo Walker

I'm guessing your referring to the Revell model kit. that's 1:100 and a little to small. I searched a little a few days ago and came up with these models to be "sort of fitting". (Text is in German but you can get the point ;))

The Revell AT-AT is close to perfect at 1/53 scale for what it's worth.

Thats a useful list Sundancer, nice!

Thank you Extropia, I've could have added more models but I wanted to stick to what is available right now. Fine Molds has stopped producing Star Wars Models and AMT/ERTL are to precious ;)

If any other manufactures are know, please let me know so I can add them.

Shall do. I've been building a very similar list myself, there's not much that's ideal. Though that said, I think some other scales would probably suit ok for terrain and are "close enough" for at purpose.

That is a nice list, however it's missing the Fine Molds, Bandai and Revell models and all it contains are kits that are long gone and not available anymore. Some of the companies on it even don't exist any more. A TIE Crawler would have been nice... maybe a TIE... and a 40k tank... hmm.....

Great list... but still now Sandcrawler. :(

Where can someone find a Jawa Sandcrawler for a Tatooine map? Seems like it doesn't exist.

Since the Sandcrawler is a rather simple geometric form it shouldn't be to hard to scratchbuild. Biggest problem I can see is getting tank tracks wide enough to fit the scale...

Completing new to Terrain Building... probably not overly difficult for most, but I imagine it'll be a pain for me. Still, that's probably what I will end up doing.

I grabbed an old 1979 action figure sized one and it looks awesome.

If you go to Model Kits and scroll down, you will find a Sandcrawler kit. Measures around 2 feet long. It's a bit expensive, though.

All of Randy Coopers models are expensive, but he is a bit of a master so it's fair enough. I mean, the dude makes models for Hollywood movies, it's not quite Revell ;)

There are some fantastic looking paper models that can be re-scaled. When time allows, my plan is to build a wreaked AT-AT and a crashed Y-Wing.

Thats amazing... something to hope for in the coming year. Any idea what the scale would be like with Legion? Seems perhaps a bit big?

It's about 1/48 scale, which is almost perfect for Legion.

Good news! I'm really happy that something like this exists. Even if it is expensive, I'll need to work to find a reason to treat myself! Haha.

Thanks!

Just be aware that those models are for experienced up to expert modellers, so don't get caught out.

Obviously you might well be an expert, but just a heads up for anybody considering it.

Haha I am in no way an expert.

I am hoping to complete my Tatooine Jundland Wastes terrain over the next year, slowly assembling various pieces. I have always viewed the Sandcrawler as the "grand finale" - the final touch, as it were. I will stay away from it until I feel I'm capable of assembling - I'm just happy to know it exists!

In short, resin is a b*tch if you aren't used to it. And large pi Cesar of resin are a HUGE b*tch, and this has very large pieces of resin combined with very small, fragile bits of resin.

Before investing in a kit like this, I'd strongly recommend getting a little bit of practice with resin...heating it, bending/straightening it, and so on. It's a lot of money to get me up as dead weight :)

I am looking at the AT-AT model, and... I want to shred it for terrain... (I have been playing a lot of SW Battlefront 2)
