So I tried this last night with some pretty solid success.
Jan Ors: wired, tlt, prs, title and Kyle katarn-40
Nora Wexley:PTL, VT, R2D2, tail gunner, title-40
AP-5: inspiring recruit, r2 astromech and prs- 19
I was able to keep Jan with a target lock and stacking tons of focus or I could keep Nora with focus and lock. At least for a couple turns. Plus everyone has some Regen for durability.

The only problem is that I don't think you can activate Kyle when AP-5 removes stress. (as Wingman FAQ)

Oh really? That seems odd, especially when the text states when you remove stress, not after a maneuver

I like AP-5 with Weapons Eng and M9-G8. For 21 points its great little support piece. I tried it paired with Poe and Miranda, and I like the flexibility it gives both those ships when to TL them. Honestly I really didn't need the re-roll on Poe a lot of the time, but it came in handy for a few shots. Advanced Optics really boosts Poe. Miranda on the other hand loves the re-rolls for her TLT. Your opponent really needs to deal with AP-5 which kind of gives you a Biggs-like ship, but one that really doesn't need to be close to buff your ships.
I might drop Weap Eng for Sabine or C3PO though on Miranda.

Thing is, you can stick wingman on a ship with Kyle on board; and that ship would stack up free focus tokens. It doesn't stop it working, it just means only one 'end' of the interaction qualifies for the free focus token.

Negative compadre, for the upgrade card Kyle Katarn sayeth "After you remove a stress token from YOUR ship..." Thus the wingman shenanigans in which you speak are therefore nullified.
I think these are very strong combos here. Even though AP can't trigger Kyle, he can really boost Norra.
My only comments:
Predator on Jan coupled with a token stack would basically modify all the TLT shots, and VT would allow you to guarantee the range you need.
Norra could use 3PO to increase survivability at the cost of a wee bit of offense. Worth it, in my opinion.
