What's in your drawer?

By L5RBr, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

The first cycle bringed some good tools to improve the decks, but we have to give them some space..

So, what cards you feel are going to spend some time in the drawer, considering competitive play, all core set and the packs?

Northern Wall Sensei, that's for sure.

And probably going to live there for the rest of its life since I think Seeker Dragon is a lot stronger than Keeper Dragon.

Honestly, there is very little that I will not be playing in some sort of deck or another. While there are strong cards that could potentially be good enough to "run in every deck" I think we've already hit the point were we have to factor in other synergies of cards.

For example: Fine Katana and Ornate Fan were largely considered auto-include cards in the core only environment. Now that we see honor bids moving away from "1 or 5 only" and people conserving their fate, more decks seem to be exploring the more expensive attachments that being extra utility to their decks.

I don't feel the need to force enough courtiers into a deck to play For Shame as I can now make a variety of decks that better synergies with the clan splashes I've chosen as opposed to having all the decks be the same set of cards.

I've even found interesting uses for Wandering Ronin, besides being used to keep my coffee table free of soda can sweat rings.

Not to mention that casual play will see just about anything. While I still follow the meta game and keep the decklists of what appear to be the top decks, many locals just play what they want. And until I see a Kotei that I'll actually be able to attend, I'm also have a good mix of casual and competitive decks to play.

They are great for leveling uneven tables as well I hear.

Now that I finally have my three cores I have enough copies for that. 3 was just too thin to get that table just right.

In before, "But casual players will play them".
