I want to be able to use this droid, but can't find any good way to put it in a list. Does anybody have any ideas?
Things to do with R7-T1
It's not very good, really. Trigger is fairly situational and the benefit is marginal for the points cost. I've run it on Wedge before but I've never felt like it was pulling its weight.
Its a bit of fun on 'Blue Ace' and Dutch Vander, but that's about it.
Yeah, it's mainly a fun-squad upgrade I think. Dutch with ion or Autoblaster can be fun; get the TL, pass it off, boost out of arc, shoot backwards with the turret. You'll only pull it off once every game or two though so building a list around it seems like a bad idea. Wedge with Advanced Proton Torpedoes and Expertise would be fun too, makes getting into range 1 with a target lock more likely, but you'd better kill whatever you're shooting at before it shoots back at you.

If it was 1 pt, it could fit into some ships, like Luke, you doesnt really need a focus for defense. But at 3pts, there are just way better options and for 1pt more you get r2-freakin-d2. Its priced for a time when double actions where a rarity.
He’s cool on Thane. If they shoot someone else, you boost to close range and get a TL. Not too shabby.

Maybe with that new syncronized turret it could be cool. But I don't know I think Horton would still prefer a TLT.
It makes an excellent book mark.

R7-T1 is a neat trick on Norra with Intensity. She gets a Boost + Target Lock + Focus/Evade from one action. That's fun!
It's good on anyone trying to get maximum utility from a single action.
Thane Kyrell and Blue Ace were mentioned - I think these are probably the best two examples - Thane gets free actions during the combat phase; getting boost and target lock prior to his own shot can be amazing, whilst Blue Ace with Advanced Optics doesn't have an EPT but can still get boost/focus/target lock with a single action and use his special 90' turn boost.
R7-T1 is an odd droid. Biggest use ive gotten out of him is on a T65, which has no boost, can use him to arcdodge depending on the angles. Its not a Fearlessness thing, your arc has no merit on it...just the enemy arc. The TL is optional as well so you dont have to acquire it if you already got one on someone you'd like more.
I wish he was worded the other way though, where he checks YOUR arc.

I put him on a janky Corran so that I could get PS 10 with double reposition.
-
Corran Horn
(35)
- Veteran Instincts (1)
- R7-T1 (3)
- Experimental Interface (3)
- Advanced Sensors (3)
Yes, he's expensive. Yes, he's unusual. But, having him with a double re- or pre-position is awesome at PS 10.
Wedge with PTL and Vectored Thrusters.

There are already lots of good ideas here, but here's a janky list I used a while back that had it, and with a bit of luck managed to go 3-0 at a 30-player tournament:
| Airen Cracken — Z-95 Headhunter | 19 |
| Adaptability | 0 |
| Ship Total: 19 | |
| Biggs Darklighter — X-Wing | 25 |
| R4-D6 | 1 |
| Integrated Astromech | 0 |
| Ship Total: 26 | |
| "Hobbie" Klivian — X-Wing | 25 |
| R3-A2 | 2 |
| Integrated Astromech | 0 |
| Ship Total: 27 | |
| "Dutch" Vander — Y-Wing | 23 |
| Autoblaster Turret | 2 |
| R7-T1 | 3 |
| Ship Total: 28 | |
The synergy is great fun. I'd generally have most ships focus as their action and have Dutch boost + TL (or just TL) after Cracken shoots, and give the extra one to Hobbie, who will then always spend it (even to reroll 0 dice) to get rid of the stress he gets with R3-A2. On the following turn he and Cracken can both k-turn while Dutch just turns and takes TL, again giving the extra to Hobbie to remove his stress. In this way Hobbie can k-turn and use R3-A2 and use the same TL to remove both stress tokens, once after he gets it from Dutch and once after he spends it. Crack shoots, Hobbie or Dutch get a focus (or Dutch does a boost + TL), and the game continues.
It's probably gone from tier 2 to 3 over the last year or so what with power creep (and now the Biggs nerf), but stressing opponents with R3-A2 after k-turning, and ending up stress free is hilarious.
r7-t1 does some cool things on the e-wing paired with advanced sensors, especially on higher pilot skill ships. (when lower p.s. ships move first they can often get you in arc... the boost before dial reveal and target lock is neat.
It will likely play pretty well with threat tracker and EI.
I like the thane and blue ace ideas. Haven't thought about either of them in a long while.
my personal experience is limited to using the droid with wedge and corran(with advanced sensors). I liked it, but I found it really is only truly useful once a game or so. I don't think I'd take it to a tournament but I still pull it out for wedge every once in a while. It's firmly in my "casual but fun/interesting" list of ship builds.
