This set of films borrows lots of ideas, including from Spartacus, Gladiator, Children of Men, KOTOR, /u/sigmaecho , /u/GoldandBlue , Michael Barryte of BelatedMedia, and King Arthur. I've lost track of what's original, and what's simply a derivation of something cool that seemed to fit! So, just add a nice dose of good John Williams music, hit blend, and I hope you find it enjoyable!
Episode I
In 34 BBY, it has been 32 years since the discovery of a Jedi, and the Galactic Republic is on the brink of collapse. Jedi-General Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice Obi-wan Kenobi, one of the youngest Jedi in the Order, intend to return home after leading the Republic army to another victory against Separatist splinter factions near the border world of Dantooine at the edge of the Outer Rim, at the cost of two Jedi Knights.
With the dwindling numbers of the Jedi, the stability of the Republic in the face of persistent insurrections is threatened. As asylum seekers have fled the chaos and fighting, the inner worlds have become deluged with refugees. Within the Jedi Order, there is a growing feeling of discontent at the losses suffered with each action, led by the respected elder Jedi, count Dooku.
The Republic's leader, Supreme Chancellor Valorum, in response to rumours of a potential new incursion of border raiders near the outer rim worlds requests the dispatch of Jedi Master Jinn with a republic scouting force to investigate. Mace Windu, leader of Jedi Council, relays to Qui-Gon Jinn en-route that Yoda, the oldest and last living Jedi from the golden age of the Republic had a premonition of darkness and warns him to look for deeper roots to anything he may find. Passing through an asteroid belt on their sweep of the rim worlds, they discover a glistening royal vessel under attack from raiders accompanied by an unknown dark vessel. Fending off the pirates at the loss of one vessel, they rescue Queen Amidala, the ruler of the Alderaan, and her daughter from her royal starship en-route to the Republic capital planet of Coruscant.
Qui-Gon's ship is damaged however as the dark vessel returns appearing from the ether of space using a cloaking device, which brutally destroys their remaining scout craft and damages their hyperdrive in a high speed chase. They make an emergency jump to the nearby desert planet of Tatooine to escape and try to find repair parts. Qui-Gon, Amidala, her daughter, and Kenobi visit the vast junk yards of Mos Espa. Searching the yards, they encounter the seventeen-year-old slave, Anakin Skywalker, scrawny but a gifted pilot and engineer, cornered and defending himself from a local gang. Although Anakin has strong but scrappy fighting skills, he is clearly outnumbered. For a moment, Qui-Gon senses a dim but tangible connection between Anakin and the force, the first he has seen in decades and steps in to save him. He meets the owner of the yard, who owns Anakin, and wagers Anakin's freedom with in a Podrace, which Anakin wins.
Anakin joins the group to be trained as a Jedi, leaving his mother Shmi behind. En route to their starship, Qui-Gon encounters Darth Maul, Darth Sidious's apprentice, who was sent to capture Amidala. A duel ensues, but Qui-Gon quickly disengages and escapes on board the starship. Kenobi is shaken by the presence of the Sith. Qui-Gon is old enough to have watched his master, Yoda, fight a Sith once before. He is instead shaken by something Kenobi did not perceive, a second, overwhelming presence of the Force within Anakin for a split second during the escape.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan escort Amidala to Coruscant, so that she can plead her people's case for more Republic support to Chancellor Valorum and the Galactic Senate. With Qui-Gon’s return to the temple, there is visible excitement at the prospect of a new Jedi candidate, but when Qui-Gon asks the Jedi Council for permission to train Anakin as a Jedi, the Council refuses after the council leader Mace Windu finds only a faint glow of the Force in Anakin. With his upbringing as a tortured slave, they feel Anakin is too vulnerable to the dark side. Qui-gon is forbidden to train Anakin, and is instructed to either leave him in the service of the military or to return him to Tatooine. Undaunted, Qui-Gon vows to train Anakin himself.
Meanwhile, Naboo's Senator Palpatine persuades Amidala to make a vote of no confidence in Valorum to elect a more capable chancellor to resolve the growing threat near Alderaan. Though she is successful in pushing for the vote, Amidala grows frustrated with the corruption in the Senate, and decides to return to Alderaan. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are ordered by the Jedi Council to accompany the queen, as well as to investigate the return of the Sith, whom they believed to be extinct. On returning to Alderaan, Qui-Gon and Kenobi sense a great darkess, and come out of lightspeed to find it under siege from an enormous army of droids, unlike anything the republic has seen. Making it to the surface through a blockade of enormous warships, they make it to the surface, where they find Darth Maul leading Sith soldiers and droids into the royal palace.
Anakin takes shelter in a vacant starfighter behind its shields, but recognizes it as the same interface as the cockpit of his old podracer. Not strictly disobeying any order to stay in the ship, Anakin races into the air battle raging above the palace, and lends his piloting skills to the squadrons battling in space above the palace. Meanwhile, Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan battle Darth Maul. Kenobi, overconfident, makes a brash and foolish move in the duel, but is saved by Qui-gon, who takes the blow and is mortally wounded. Obi-wan turns the tide of the battle by tapping into his anger and strikes a great blow to Maul's chest who is seemingly mortally injured. As he dies, Qui-Gon requests Obi-Wan to train Anakin, Obi-wan does not understand, but agrees. Subsequently, Palpatine is elected as the new Supreme Chancellor, and orders a fleet to relieve Alderaan. With the arrival of the Star Cruisers of the Republic, the defeat of the ground forces on Alderaan, the blockading fleets flees into space, but the source of the fleet and their objective remain unclear.
The Jedi Council promotes Obi-Wan to the rank of Jedi Knight and reluctantly accepts Anakin as Obi-Wan's apprentice, citing his unexpected skill in the cockpit as valuable potential to be explored, possibly hitning at a deeper connection to the force than first sensed. Darth Maul has however escaped, although gravely injured. On the surgical table of a sith laboratory, A shadowy figure taunts his failure, with cloaked figures in the background. Maul rages that the Jedi were not as weak as promised. A second figure, Darth Tyrannus steps forward, hidden in shadow but with a distorted but familiar voice, declaring they will have vengeance.
Episode II
Ten years after the attempted invasion of Alderaan, the Galactic Republic has shattered. The outer rim planets have been overrun by raiders and pirates. The massive black armada seen at Alderaan has not been seen again, but huge stretches of the galaxy have fallen into unrest, with regional protectorates springing up as each system begins forming their own defenses in the absence of the Republic Fleet. A fifth of the Jedi, in disagreement with the way the Jedi have been used have gone into exile or disappeared from the order, including Count Dooku, the former leader of the council before Mace Windu, to whereabouts unknown.
Princess Amidala, (daughter of the Queen in Episode I), now a Senator, comes to Coruscant to vote on a motion to create an army to assist the Jedi against this threat. Narrowly avoiding an assassination attempt upon arrival, she is placed under the protection of Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker. Since Dooku’s departure, Kenobi has become the strongest lightsaber duellist in the Jedi Order, and Skywalker has become famed for his piloting skills. Anakin’s once dim force powers have unexpectedly grown stronger at an alarming rate. This rapid change concerns the older members of the Jedi Council, who remark that this was reminiscent of a forbidden technique developed by an ancient but controversial Jedi member who fell to the sith long ago.
Obi-Wan and Anakin travel to the world of Kamino, where they find the army requisitioned by the Republic, coordinated by Palpatine, is not conscripts and volunteers as the Jedi council was told it would be, but instead clones, a technology resurrected from the dark technologies of the Old Republic. Kenobi finds to his horror that the clones use a genetic construction developed from the DNA of the long-vanquished Mandalorian race as their genetic template. The Mandalorians were a brutal militaristic empire that nearly destroyed the Jedi Order in a massive galaxy-wide war eons ago.
Nonetheless, Kenobi is impressed by the sheer strength of the army, and is comforted somewhat by the words of Chancellor Palpatine who comments that the attack on Alderaan was only the beginning, the clones are controlled by genetic conditioning, and to recover the Republic they must fight fire with fire. But Kenobi and the Jedi order view the clones with a deep distrust that Anakin does not understand or share.
Meanwhile, Anakin becomes troubled by premonitions of his mother, Shmi, in pain, with visions of Maul, and convinces Obi-wan to make an unscheduled jump to Tatooine, now outside of republic space. Anakin expresses his frustration that Tatooine was deemed by the Jedi Order too insignificant to defend.
They find Mos Esma destroyed, and meet Owen Lars, Anakin's stepbrother and the son of Shmi's new husband, Cliegg Lars. Cliegg tells Anakin that pirates have over-run Tatooine and have been venturing out to raid local moisture farms each day, led by a tattooed and horned figure, a description that Kenobi and Anakin. He informs them Shmi was abducted days earlier and is likely dead. Surprisingly, an alarm within their ship detects the shadow vessel from years earlier, and Anakin takes to the sky in their ship in pursuit. With great skill, Anakin damages the engines of the ship in a high speed chase through the dunes of Tatooine, before it escapes into a cloak right as they reach the pirate outpost.
Anakin races into the camp to find Shmi, tortured by Maul and the pirates, where she dies in Anakin's arms. Enraged, Anakin’s force powers explode into full force, Kenobi is horrified to see the pirates ripped to pieces by Anakin’s raw power, before Anakin collapses. Kenobi returns to the Lars homestead with an unconscious Anakin and Shmi's body. Kenobi worries that finding the phantom ship was not a coincidence, and that they were lured there.
Kenobi returns to the Jedi order with Anakin, who is drifting in and out of consciousness, physically weak, and in periods of lucidity unable to recall his experience at the camp. The council deliberate over his fate, as although he is clearly a kind-hearted, good man, he possesses force powers unlike any the council has seen. Yoda arrives to the council after a period of long solitude and agrees to place a force limiter on Anakin’s power to save him from his own strength. With this damper on his power, Anakin recovers, but is not told how he was treated, or that the new level of his force power, while still substantial, is only a fraction of what he wielded at the camp.
Whilst at the temple, Kenobi is ordered to join an emergency force to rescue the desert planet of Geonosis, which possesses major starship factories important to the Republic. A massive battle droid army has appeared in orbit, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine is voted to exercise emergency powers to send the clones into battle, despite the reservations of the Jedi Council.
Obi-Wan, with a recovered Anakin lead a battalion of Jedi and clone troopers along with Mace Windu. Anakin is given command of a wing of elite Mandalorian clone starfighters, and he and Kenobi are instructed to deliver Mace and a strike force to the surface to a fast surprise attack on the mobile command sphere of the enemy invasion. As the clone and droid armies battle, Obi-Wan and Anakin make it to the surface after Anakin and his headhunters clear a path through swarming droid fighters.
After disabling he shields of the command capsule, Kenobi and Anakin make it into a hangar on the sphere. Simmering with anger, and certain the invasion is led by Maul, Anakin races forward as they infiltrate their way to the command deck but discover the leader of the invasion is Count Dooku, flanked by two fallen jedi. Kenobi is dismayed that Dooku, once of the council itself, has fallen to the Dark side and taken the name of a Sith, Darth Tyrannus.
Kenobi displays his great skill with the lightsaber in dispatching the first, as Dooku watches. Dooku comments on Anakin’s undercurrent of rage, but Kenobi dismisses his taunts.
Although Anakin holds his fallen jedi foe to a stalemate, he is not skilled enough and Kenobi is forced to intervene. Dooku is surprised at Kenobi’s prowess, declaring him a worthy adversary and lights his sabre. A master duellist, he injures Obi-Wan and severs Anakin's right arm, but Mace Windu arrives and duels Dooku. Combined, the three force Dooku to his knees, and he is taken into custody to be tried and interrogated at the temple. Transmissions are received by Windu that similar incursions of battle droids are beginning to take place across the galaxy. As the Jedi gravely acknowledge the beginning of the Clone Wars, Anakin is fitted with a robotic arm, and vows to find Maul, who remains at large.
Episode III Revenge of the Sith
After 4 years of conflict and war, the Jedi Order is a shadow of its former self, but nonetheless the might of the Republic Armies in the early years of the war have carved a huge swathe of victories into the territories lost for the past decade. Great but ruthless battle Admirals, such as Wilhuff Tarkin have risen in the ranks of the Republic army, and huge academies have been built on the worlds of Carida and Coruscant to bolster the crack regiments of Clonetroopers with new recruits,. Nevertheless, the war has crawled to a stalemate, and the seemingly endless droid armies led by sith warriors strike continual blows into republic territory.
Anakin’s training has been deferred, but learning during wartime has led to him becoming highly proficient in the use of the force for battle, he still struggles with the philosophy of the Jedi and the mystical aspects of the force, and grows increasingly frustrated with the restrictions placed upon him by the order. The loss of his mother haunts him, nevertheless, a romance has blossomed between him and the princess from Alderaan.
Dooku, having been tried by the Jedi Council is imprisoned on Wobani, but during his testimony revealed a worrying secret, the Sith have been murdering force-sensitives for decades – leading to the absence of new jedi and weakening the power of the order. He claims that in doing so and in bringing about the downfall of the corrupt Jedi order, they are returning balance to the force. Under interrogation he also revealed the source of a Sith training academy, concealed by the dark side – Dantooine.
An insurrectionist fleet arrives at Wobani to rescue Dooku. During a space battle over Wobani, Obi-Wan and Anakin lead a mission to stop the cyborg Sith commander, Darth Grievous from freeing Dooku. After infiltrating Grievous's flagship, the Jedi battle Grievous and Dooku, who Anakin eventually defeats. With Kenobi unconscious, Anakin reports the successful capture of Dooku to a transmission of Palpatine, Palpatine urges a conflicted Anakin to execute him.
Chancellor Palpatine orders the redistribution of the command structure of the Jedi. Having taken a liking to Anakin, and praising Anakin’s effectiveness in battle, he requisitions Anakin’s services and inducts him into his elite personal guard to operate in auxiliary to the Military and answer directly to the Chancellor. Palpatine appoints Anakin to the Jedi Council as his representative, but the Council declines to grant Anakin the rank of Jedi Master and orders him to spy on Palpatine, causing Anakin's faith in the Jedi to diminish significantly. Palpatine tempts Anakin with secret knowledge of the dark side of the Force, including hinting that the Jedi Council may have restricted Anakin’s powers out of fear. Anakin confides in Kenobi he is to become a father, and hopes one day his son will wield his lightsaber.
Anakin is sent alone on a mission to Dantooine, despite Kenobi’s misgivings – Dantooine has been abandoned for decades, and earlier scouting there revealed nothing. Anakin finds that Dooku lied, there is no academy, but he does find settlements, not of the Sith, but camps of resettled refugees, displaced citzens caputred by raiders, and escaped slaves building war parts and droids in return for food and protection.
Dismayed that the captives have cooperated with the Sith, and knowing the factories were contributing to the war effort, Anakin orders the fleet to purge the entire settlement. When he learns this Kenobi is horrified, and rebukes him, which Anakin takes poorly. He reveals he believes the Jedi Council have been working against him, and actively sabotaging the war effort with their reticence, and reveals his anger at Yoda's restrictions that keep him from reaching his true power. Kenobi reveals he knew about the force damper, which infuriates Anakin further. Conversely, Anakin feels only Palpatine has given him the kind of respect he feels he has earned, and that Palpatine's aggressive approach has been the only one approach making any real headway against the insurrection and in the war.
On his return to Coruscant, tempting Anakin, Palpatine gives Anakin the location of Darth Maul – Korriban, and informs him he may be beaten with an ancient Sith lightsaber that Maul is also searching for. Kenobi and Anakin travel to Coruscant with a strike force, and when they arrive, they find Maul on the surface, waiting for them. An emergency message that coruscant is under attack orders the strike force to return home, but Anakin is blinded by rage, and stays with a reluctant Kenobi who refuses to leave his side.
Anakin ventures deep into the Sith tombs, and finds the blade, handing his own to Kenobi. Kenobi sees it is an artifact of the darkside and pleads him to leave it but Anakin was adamant and proclaimed he would pay any price, for vengeance on Maul. Anakin’s force damper, placed by Yoda, dissolves under the pressure of the Sith aura of the temple, and in an explosion of power the weapon breaks free of its enclosure, Kenobi is struck down and trapped behind collapsing rubble in the temple as Maul appears – Anakin meets Maul in battle and hacks him down with the red blade and channeling his rage into an overpowering command of the force. Kenobi, helplessly watching Anakin fall deeper into the throes of the Dark side, and trapped outside Temple chamber, is forced to retreat, and escapes to return to Coruscant and warn Yoda and the Jedi Council of Anakin’s fate.
Meanwhile, Palpatine has declared the Jedi Excommunicate as traitors to the republic, and frames them as the architects of the insurrection. He issues an order for the clone troopers to kill the remaining Jedi. In secret, Palpatine has arrived on Korriban, and reveals himself as Darth Sidious as Anakin is about to strike the killing blow to Maul. Having fallen completely to the dark side, Sidious taunts Anakin for the betrayal of Obi-wan, and the corrupt Jedi council whose inaction led to his mother’s death. Sidious lies that the princess miscarried his son, and in her grief she and Obi-wan became lovers during his mission on Dantooine, Sidious promises Anakin that through the dark side he will never be powerless again and can destroy Obi-wan and the jedi. Overcome by the Dark Side, Anakin is helpless to resist, and the last traces of his personality are consumed and he becomes Palpatine’s new apprentice, Darth Vader and cuts Maul in two, seemingly to his death.
Palpatine dispatches Vader along with a band of clones to kill everyone in the Jedi Temple, and as explosions rack the temple, inside the burning grounds he is confronted by Kenobi and the Princess, who implores Vader to abandon the dark side. He refuses, and upon witnessing Obi-Wan invited to intervene, Vader chokes her to her death, unaware that not only did his son live, but she gave birth to twins. Obi-Wan, the better duellist, manages to defeat Vader, despite his raw strength in the force, severing both of his legs, and leaving him to burn in the collapsing Jedi temple.
Palpatine addresses the Galactic Senate, transforming the Republic into the Galactic Empire, and declaring himself Emperor. He retrieves Vader from the burning temple, Vader's mutilated body is treated and covered in a black armored suit. Bail Organa adopts Leia and takes her to Alderaan, while Obi-Wan delivers Luke to his step-family, Owen and Beru Lars on Tatooine, where Obi-Wan intends to watch over Luke until the time is right to challenge the Empire.
