Playing Legion with my 5 year old Sith

By Funk Fu master, in Star Wars: Legion

Hi all,

So I am excited as everyone for this game, it finishes the triangle of X-Wing and Armada. It also means more minis for RPGing.

I am also exited as I think its going to be the easiest to teach my 5 year old daughter to play. I have tried before a year ago with X-wing (without movement dials or any special rules, just the basics, teaching her numbers) and that was a blast, if not a little out of control. Armada is beyond even attempting for a fiew years.

But this looks freeform and simple enough that I think a bare bones version of the rules would work.

At this stage, I am looking at the following (Depending largely on what the Learn to play simplified rules end up being):

  • No Commander Cards at first, just use random activation
  • No card special rules (exept maybe speeder)
  • No supression
  • No crippled vehicles
  • No upgrades, exept maybe adding troops and heavy weapons

Obviously this will be a case of test and adjust both during and between games. I will slowly start introducing more and more rules, and use the cards as a way to teach her to read.

Anyone else had experience teaching their own humand shaped pets on playing wargames

i'd ramp it up slowly on this one

just troops + commander to start

add vechiles

add the basic command cards ( not the hero specific ones)

add advanced rules

full game

My 6yo and I are going to be playing together too! It's really exciting to start passing on the hobby

Dont sell them short- my 6year old plays Flames of War lol cant get much more complicted than that game lol
