I tried to watch the clone wars series on Netflix, and wasn't impressed. The show felt too kiddy and slow. Is Rebels similar, or is it better? If you do recommend it, do you have an suggested ways to watch it? I haven't had any luck finding it on any major streaming services, and it is kinda expensive to buy.
Is The Rebels TV Series Worth Watching?
Yes because otherwise you don't recognise the stuff in the lego star wars xmas calendar ![]()
My first world problems...
clone wars picked up after series 1... from what I hear rebels is the same (series 1 is kiddie... it then gets more adult as the show progresses) not got round to watching it yet even though have series 1 & 2 on dvd at home
1st world problems... too many tv series not enough time to watch them... still not watched GoTs (again got 1 -6 on DVD only watched the 1st two episodes)

I second that. If you don't mind jumping into it start with season 1 #13 "Call to Action", the last story arc of the first season and then "Siege of Lothal" (start of the second season) which has Vader in it. Decide after that if you want to go on. I think it adds up to 100 minutes (5 episodes).

Skip GoT, it saves time better spent elsewhere. If the choice is between Rebels and GoT, choose Rebels.
Edit: To respond to the OP, I think Rebels is better than CW. CW supposedly told the tale of a galactic war and only ever depicted rare skirmishes which the Republic almost always lost, baring the Geonosis invasion.
Rebels, being about a small group, lends itself better to a TV show, I feel. The first series does drag a bit, and the show as a whole suffers from the classic plot armor of major characters, but overall it's not bad.
Edited by GhostofNobodyInParticularThere's a generational problem. Those of us who grew up on SW:OT think of it as an adult thing, but who did not grow up on the SW:PT/CW/Rebels look at those as kiddie things, because we were adults when we first saw them. But the OT is aimed at children too.
I'd echo what the others are saying: yes, CW and Rebels starts off clearly aimed at children, but they get darker and more complex as time goes on (and the audience matures somewhat). The same thing is true of the Harry Potter series if you read/watched that.
It's worthwhile letting go of your uptight adult for a bit, and be a kid again - and then get disturbed as the kid in you gets exposed to disturbing things.

Rebels got a bit dark but clone wars got dark as he*l. I mean think about it.
Unfortunately you're not going to find Rebels on any of the major streaming sites, especially now that Disney is talking about it's own streaming platform/maybe buying 21st Century Fox (which includes Hulu). However you will find it on the Disney XD site, you'll either have to subscribe or log-in using your cable provider.
I'll agree with everyone else, season 1 is very childish, and really should have been a full season run.
I have enjoyed the entire series. I have a 5 year old, so it might be a contributing factor, but we spent every week watching the show since the release.
Earlier episodes were a little goofier, but it's gotten more serious as the show goes on. Still, I enjoyed the Grand Inquisitor from season 1 so I can't say for certain that skipping season 1 is a great decision. That finale where Kanan and the Inquisitor fight is sweet.
If you have a kid, nephew, neighbor, or somehow convince a random passerby to watch the show with you, you can share Star Wars with a new generation and get some cool cameos out of it. I'm glad it exists.
Am I the only one who finds it unbearable?
Just now, DiabloAzul said:Am I the only one who finds it unbearable?
I find it annoying at times.
But again, sitting down with a 4-year old who is excited to watch it mitigates the worst of its sins on an automatic level, I feel - so I can hardly be objective.

Not unbearable but at some points I feel that they should never have cancelled Clone Wars

I disagree. The Clone Wars told the story that it needed to tell. There's only so long it could go on without veering into the timeline of Revenge of the Sith.
It looks like Rebels will do the same, even if 'the story' is less determined by the events that it scheduled to portray.
It's kind of strange. Sometimes it's really cool. But more often it's just "meh" or even annoying. It gets old very quickly that they want to sqeeze in as many guest stars from the movies and other series as possible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
The problem is that there was clearly more work put into the writing of the Clone Wars series, and compared to that Rebels is mostly a letdown.
Don't get me wrong, thereare episodes and scenes that are hyper-awesome, but they are relatively few and far between...

Yes but that was the original plan. It was going to go until revenge of the sith. If that happened i would be fine with it ending.
I've really enjoyed both series. The shows really bring depth to their characters, and explore aspects of the universe that we don't get to see.
You really have to take both shows with a grain of salt, because their characters have some serious plot armor. If you want to watch the main characters suffer and die, these are not the shows for you.

GoT as in Game of Thrones? Best tv show currently running. Far more interesting than rebels. Choose got if your choice is between game of thrones and a cartoon. Winter is coming.

Make time to watch got. It is an amazing tv series.

It's a show for children, I find it mostly annoying to watch just like the clone wars version before it. However I still think its good that its there for the target audience. I can't understand adults watching and liking it however.
TCW Series has its issues, but is truly fun in others. There are several series long story arcs, with my personal favorite being the one that follows 5s and his unit from training to almost the end of the war. Part war documentary, part war cereal, Good stuff!
Rebels has a few more issues than its predicisor, but if you spend a couple minutes looking at Frank Mcquarie concept art for the original Star Wars film, it will help with the visual ones.
As stated above, watching with a child helps. You tend to feed off their enjoyment.
Both have the bonus of providing a visual Star Wars story, that is still better than at least 40% of the, now legends books and comics.
Don't compare them to the movies, just compare them to the old EU as a whole. That helps a lot.
I don't so much see Rebels as a kids show, as I do a FUN show. It is fun to watch. Yes, there is plot armor, but no more than the expected. Especially as the seasons go on, the heroes do not always win.
Compared to TCW it loses the typical 3 episode arcs, for larger season long arcs. Generally speaking I think the voice acting is better in Rebels and as mentioned if you look at the original Macquarrie concept art, the art direction of the show makes a ton more sense.
Go in with the attitude of looking to enjoy something fun and you will have a great time with Rebels.
Season 1 is not except for maybe three or four episodes.
Seasons 2 & 3 are definitely worth watching.
Season 4 has slipped back to season 1 quality in terms of writing but largely because Filoni's team has been rushed to conclude the series I think. The animation is much tighter however.
Tarkin, Vader, the inquisitors, and Thrawn elevate the show .
I agree with most others - if you overlook the plot armor, there are some really, really good Star Wars moments in this show which makes it worth watching.
We watch it via Sling TV, but you have to add the $5 package that gives you Disney XD. I just opened the app on my phone and the show listing looks like you can stream everything from all 4 seasons.

What's wrong with the ending (Lost Missions/Season 6)??
The secret of order 66, the true story of Sifo-Dyas, Yoda getting into contact with the force ghost of Qui Gon Jinn .. it's all there.
(Don't mention the Jar Jar Binks Story...)
Season 1 was VERY kiddy and let's not talk about the Wookies design ![]()
Season 2 was cool.
Season 3 was awesome and dramatic.
Season 4 is below the 3, but still good.
