New resistance list for kylo - help

By Browncoat50, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Old Poe Dameron: PTL, BB8, Advanced optics, AT (PS 8 40 points)

Blue Ace: FAA, Primed Thrusters and AT (PS 5 31 points)

Fenn Rau: Decoy, Jan Ors, M9 G8, PRS. (PS 9 29 points)

My idea is to use Fenn as a pure support ship and swap PS with blue ACE so I can try and trigger kylo silencer ability leaving Poe free to try and take him out without being blinded.

Is this too involved or am I onto something?

1) I think Poe is a little frazzled right here. I think the most efficient way to put him on the board these days is PS8 Poe w/ VI, Adv. Optics, FAA, AT/IA, and the title. High PS can strip Target Locks, ALWAYS has his focus, and has free repositions when needed.

2) Fenn is a nice build, though I would rather see Weapons Engineer to get the most out of M9-G8, by far one of the strongest upgrades I know of.

3) I'm not convinced Blue Ace is your best choice here. If you want a squirelly T-70, I would choose Snap or Ello, both w/ VI/FAA/AT. Sure, Blue Ace is fun, but I don't think as competitive.

Hrm. My gut says that this is too involved. I'm going to ramble some. It's probably not all great ideas.

Poe at PS-8 may have trouble getting arc on Kylo as well. I'd try to get him up to PS 9. Jan Ors seems wicked cool, since she can probably allow Poe to use his focus action to take an Evade, once he's AdvO stacked. I'm also iffy on Blue Ace as the 3rd ship. Zeb Attack Shuttle with TLT? It'll be hard for Kylo to get too far away from that, and Zeb's evade token could cancel the crits needed for ISYTDS. Zeb (TLT, Chewie) and Fenn Rau (Decoy, Nein Nunb (green ion moves!), M9-G8, PRS) are both 28 points, and could support 44 points of other-ship. Putting Jan Ors back can support 43 points of Poe or Corran Horn or whatever.

Another cool decoy trick is to use something with lower PS, and Roark Garnet. Boost the decoy to 12, then the Decoy swaps back with Roark and his TLTs.

If you're really scared of Kylo, Determination/Advanced Optics on 9-Poe (choice of Droid) might be enough. It's a stand-alone build which could be paired with any other standard Poe partners. I know folks are running 8-Poe + VI and Advanced Optics, and this has nearly the same PS, and ignores Kylo altogether. Heck, it makes it so you want him to trigger Kylo, since if Poe has ISYTDS, the first uncancelled crit won't go onto your shields or hull or anything at all. Plus, it'll work against Crew-Kylo, and Decoy tricks won't. Folks are all experimenting with the Silencer now, but RAC-LO + Quickdraw or Vader is also out there, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's the better list as time goes by.

For Decoy, this might be entirely crazy, but how would Decoy Chewbacca be? Keep the high PS Poe (add back the title and PS 9) to try to arc-dodge Kylo, or at least prevent him from dodging you, and then swap to Chewie attacking first, since he flips face down any ISYTDS crits. Add something like Luke and Hotshot Copilot on the Falcon. Force a Kylo to spend the focus token, follow up with the Luke's enhanced gunner shot against a tokenless Silencer, and then Poe adds his attacks afterwards. It's a 99 point bid (perhaps insufficient), and I couldn't fit Engines for the Falcon, so maybe it's not enough. Plus, it tethers a nimble Poe to a big Wookiee. However, it seems wicked thematic.

Poe Dameron (PS9 Version) (43)
T-70 X-Wing (33), Black One (1), BB-8 (2), Advanced Optics (2), Push the Limit (3), Autothrusters (2)

Chewbacca (56)
YT-1300 (42), Decoy (2), Luke Skywalker (7), Hotshot Co-pilot (4), Millennium Falcon (Evade Version) (1)

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah I will probably drop blue ace and I really like the Roark idea. Also that Chewie build looks fun
