Star Wars The Last Jedi [Spoiler FREE Thread]

By Forresto, in Star Wars: Armada

Hi all,

Due to the great anticipation of the Last Jedi, there is a desire to simply know whether it is good and original rather then ESB 2.0.

So here is a thread for people to discuss or review the new film without fear of spoilers.

There is already a thread where one is free to discuss TLJ with as many spoilers as they want FFG Armada The Last Jedi Spoiler Thread

DO NOT POST SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD!

(Offenders shall be openly mocked and ostracized)

Thanks :D

NEWS FROM TWITTER!

So some reactions from TLJ came out spoiler-free. Here they are:

"Every single shot serves a purpuose and #thelastjedi is easily the funniest #starwars film. And that is a fantastic thing."

"Star Wars: The Last Jedi is so very different, exciting, surprising. So many emotions, so many amaing moments. Stay away from spoilers."

"Guys. @rianjohnson has made the most epic, emotionally powerful @starwars film ever. Hands down. My strong advice is to be very wary of spoilers. The less you know about #thelastjedi, the better. Bravo, bravo, bravo."

"You all have no idea what you're about to see. The saga has truly changed forever #TheLastJedi"

"#TheLastJedi is incredibly satisfying and hands down Mark Hamill's best performance as Luke Skywalker"

"Impressed with #StarWars: #TheLastJedi. It makes some big, impressive and surprising moves that I definitely didn't expect. Not all the plot stuff is exactly perfect, but the character work is once again fantastic, and it's just amazing to see Luke Skywalker back in action"

"I just saw #StarWars #TheLastJedi and holy **** is it a masterpiece in a lot of insane ways. I think the standout factor is @rianjohnson's A+ direction. There was never a Star Wars movie like this"

"Full Last Jedi thoughts to come next week, but short version: That's a **** good Star Wars movie"

"#StarWars #TheLastJedi is AWESOME! I'm overwhelmed with all sorts of emotions on how incredible @rianjohnson's movie is! I can't wait to see it again. Also, PORGS!!!"

"There's a scene in #StarWars #TheLastJedi that I keep playing over and over in my head, that is so stunning and unexpected that I don't want to forget how I felt seeing it for the first time. This movie feels unlike any other Star Wars movie in all the ways I hoped"

"IT DOES NOT GET BETTER THAN STAR WARS THE LAST JEDI"

"I am STUNED by #StarWars #TheLastJedi. I laughed, I gasped, I cried and had the time of my life. Rian Johnson pulled it off, making what might be the best Star Wars movie ever"

" I think #TheLastJedi may be first Star Wars movie that is not about growing up, but also growing old. New characters mature, veterans learn about becoming more powerful than you can possibly imagine"

THEY ALL SOUND GOOD, HOPES ARE WAY UP

I am super excited to see it and kinda sad I'm waiting until next Saturday, the week is going to drag by

Eh, I'll get to see it when its on DVD, maybe.

Got tix for Thursday night!

I somehow have to make it all the way to the 21st. Ugh.

I can not wait to see this. I’m going Friday at 2:30 and the week can’t go fast enough. The hype is getting crazy and I am hopeful that this will surpass force awakens and maybe rival the empire strikes back.

Thursday night here... impatiently waiting

My tickets are for Friday.

So, even better than in The Force Awakens?

Well, it was some pretty good intensive stare, but I think it may surpass the level slightly yeah

I’m going on the sunday, but the best part is that it’s in the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square, SO HYPED!

I'm trying to be positive. My wife got us tickets for Friday night as a birthday gift. With Disney being super pushy to smaller local theaters, the tweets consisting of how this is pretty much the best Star Wars film to date and the adamant, "this isn't Empire 2.0" I get skeptical. I still remember the hype for Revenge of the Sith and how it was on par with the OT.

I'm hoping for the best, but I've been burned twice by Disney.

Sometimes I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship.

2pm Friday in 3d thanks to my wife, i.m currently driving everyone here nuts with Rudolph and star wars ,

It's Rian Johnson, not JJ Abrams, so I am hopeful.

But then that also reminds me JJ Abrams is back for Episode 9, ugh.

Earliest I expect to see it is Friday evening, unfortunately.

Stoopid photo sizes. I can’t do my funny picture

I'm surprised by the positive reactions. I saw someone threatened Rian Johnson's life today on twitter over simply reading someone else's account of the film....

Just goes to show. Nobody hates star wars quite as much as star wars fans.

I'm hoping it'll be amazing - and I LOVED force awakens with a passion, even with it's flaws.

Nothing worse than grown *** men getting riled up about a kids movie.

I wonder if there is something wrong with the people. They initially were shocked by TFA and it stands somewhere in the 90s on Rotten (last time I checked) anf they only realized later what a dull and poorly written ripoff it was... So initial hype won't make my hopes any higher.

By the way, I think ROTS was a great movie. Too bad that most part of Anakin's torment ha dto be cut out for making the film too long. But it is all in the book and the movie worked fairly well without them. Not ESB good but stil goof.

I love the force awakens and totally would rate it high on rotten tomatoes. Some Star Wars fans just won’t be happy with anything.

I'm going to respectfully disagree, with one acception JJ Abrams can take a walk. At least he didn't lense flare, and shaky cam me to death on that one. But he did on the others, in my book he's a less offensive Michal Bay (not by much). He's very much an expectation director, he dose what the studio says.

Review embargo lifted. No spoilers, but RT has it at 96%, and Metacritic has it at 84%, and Empire as a 4/5.

A word

Also, apparently the Variety Review has a massive spoiler in it (thanks r/starwars) so be warned.

Edit: (via u/stonedsquare)

The meta critic was at a 91 until Variety posted their review. In their review of Thor: Ragnarok they had a spoiler in the SUBTITLE. They also reviewed it low because they found the whole premise of Thor itself to be ridiculous. I’d avoid their TLJ review at all costs just Incase. **** Variety and their reviewers for being pretentious ******** who want to spoil everything for fans.

I normally keep my Google News widget on my home screen on my phone. It's gone for the week thanks to asswads like this--I've had multiple movies/shows spoiled for me by those headlines.

Hope North Korea doesn't invade this week.
