When it would have synergized so much better with Crab. Its a problem I see with cards in the game. It would really help one clan but ends up in another.
How does Mountain Stronghold end up a Dragon card?
I suppose you mean Mountaintop Statuary...
I don’t see why it synergizes better with the Crab than with the Dragon. Crab is about defense and sacrificing characters, Dragon is about doing a lot with few characters. I’d say this province does more for the Dragon than for the Crab.
But of course, it would be a good card in any clan.
It enables the Holding-based cards like Shrewd Yasuki and Hida Guardian without blocking up a Province.

Hida Guardian would be OP with 3 MS in your stronghold.
And for Shrewd Yasuki... well, remember that his ability is “if there’s a holding in place”. So he just got better against Dragon. ![]()
What I mean is that, for those cards, I think that the holding prerequisite is more like a drawback. So if you put MS in Crab, you’re actually having those characters benefits without any drawback.
Edited by Tabris2kI hope the holding synergy wasn't intended to be a drawback, because that would be pretty sad. As it is, there are so many personalities in this game that suffer zero drawback and offer such great utility that it would be nice if the Crab got a few.
For the sake of lore and fairness. Having a free province in play for Crab would be bonkers. And the original Dragon stronghold increased the strength of the remaining provinces as each on got destoyed.
Nice throwback feel to the card.
"How does Mountain Stronghold end up a Dragon card?"
They put it on the Dragon template. Easy.
Because Crab talk about mountains, while Dragon actually live the mountain life.
It totally fits better for Dragon. ![]()
Oh look, the kind of thread you could open each time a good new holding is released as another clan's card!
Every clan will have some cards that would synergize well with other clans. Just because a clan focuses on X and is the best at X doesn't mean that other clans can't have a couple cards that do X.
(For instance, just because Unicorn focus on moving troops around, does that mean that no other clan should have ways to move people into/out of battle?)

Oh, so you mean something like:
Crane event, Fate cost 1.
Action: During a political conflict, in which you have more military skill than your opponent, if both you and you opponent control one ready character and one bowed character each - move your opponent’s bowed character home, and straighten him. Move one character you control into the conflict.
That’s totally Unicorn-y!
Edited by Tabris2kI think they would have made Crab's holding characters way too efficient haha. Imagine if Hida Guardians could give +8/+8 because you had 2 holdings in your 4 and 2 of these on your stronghold haha. Not to mention permanently turning on the likes of Shrewd Yasuki and Shuichi among many other holding-interacting cards that we're bound to get in the future.
I think Mirumoto's Fury and Political Rival were printed outside of Crab for the same reason. They'd make Crab way too efficient at what they do.
Edited by Joe From CincinnatiHow ready for battle end up a Lion card? Or the mountain does not fall a Crab? they fits better for Dragon with they heavy attachment chars..
Crab can already get 8 PS on the stronghold usually and that is already tough to deal with, do we really need them to have up to 11, with the ability to send home up to three times?
There's this thing called balance, it helps. Crab with Mountaintop + rebuild would be obnoxious and unnecessary.
In addition in Dragon's defence, they also had a lot of (direct) defensive boosts in the first game. Higher province strength, cavalry when defending etc
The first thing I thought about when seeing this card was the first Dragon Stronghold.

Just a clarification, Rebuild allows you put MS in a province again, which can be good for the +1 and using the send home ability again in that province, but it doesn’t let you move it to the Stronghold again (as it is not revealed, but placed)
That card in Crab would be busted. Their stronghold would be almost impossible to break. They already have a native +3. Assuming they put a 5 strength province there and you have 3 Statuaries, that would mean you have to win the conflict by +11. And that is before they use their box ability. Assume they have 1 Hida Guardian, that would make it so that you would have to win by +17 to break. And then it also serves as a constant trigger for their abilities, which is a bad idea.

If the Crab player takes a Void role, they could even throw Massing at Twilight under the Stronghold for 8 native strength. (Though the province's ability may help the opponent more than the Crab in some cases.)
