Does reload refresh extra munitions?

By freakyg3, in X-Wing Rules Questions

What is the interaction between reload flip extra munitions?

Short of an opponent being dumb with boba fett, how did you propose to discard it in the 1st place?

Even when the tokens are consumed it stays face up till the ship is destroyed

Zero. EM adds tokens when you set up. Flipping a card faceup does not add an EM token.

There's currently no game mechanic that allows you to reinstate used or discarded ordnance tokens.

thanks

Here's a question that came up at game night last night... if you decide to flip the card instead of the token, does the token stay on the card or does it get discarded? IE, if you wanted to use the reload action, does it now have that token on it that you never spent?

We could not find anything in the rules about this so if anyone can point us there it would be much appreciated.

No answer has any rules basis, it needs FAQ.

Just do what feels best to you until then.

The only assumption I'd make is that regardless of the fact that discarded cards are actually flipped face-down, they are, by definition, discarded, which would remove all tokens on it.

But that still leaves the thorny and weird discarded/not discarded question.

The token stays on the flipped card.

It's already in the FAQ.

Boba Fett , last paragraph, page 16

If Boba Fett is used to discard an Upgrade card that has an ordnance or illicit token on it, the opposing player can discard the token instead of discarding the card. If Boba Fett is used to discard cards such as Extra Munitions or Jabba the Hutt, any previously placed ordnance or illicit tokens can still be used for their effects .

You're taking that completely out of context, Parravon. That entry is talking about what happens if the Extra Munitions or Jabba card that originally granted the tokens is discarded when unused tokens remain on in-play cards. It most definitely doesn't address what happens if you discard a card with a Munitions/Illicit token on it.

Fair comment @DR4CO , but it seems a precedent has been set that when a card is discarded, other cards or abilities that were granted by that card are not discarded.

  • Integrated Astromech or Boba Fett can remove R2-D6 but it doesn't remove any EPT that was equipped.
  • Boba Fett removing Royal Guard TIE doesn't remove the second Modification.
  • Boba Fett removing the Mist Hunter title doesn't remove the Tractor Beam

One could extrapolate, the same logic may apply to munition or illicit tokens. Once could also be wrong here as well, but stranger things have happened in this game.

The cards you mention have not set the precedent you describe. None of them has ongoing effects after they are discarded; there is simply no reason that removing these cards would remove the associated card. No FAQ was ever needed to use the cards this way, but people seem to have a habit of assuming that the related cards pop out of existence for no reason, but they only effect equipping upgrade cards – they are irrelevant after setup.

As such, they are not relevant either way to the case of munitions tokens.
