Uthuk meet the Daqan

By Aetheriac, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Getting ready to try the Uthuk vs @Glucose98 tonight. I won't post my list until after the engagement as it's a "secret".

It's definitely going to play different than Waiqar... I are excite!

I'll try to remember to grab pictures and some notes for a basic battle report.

Daqan seem to measure up best against Uthuk so far in my games. They have the armor to deal with the chip damage Uthuk is fabulous for, can activate slightly earlier, and can stack Inspiration tokens with Hawthorne to avoid Bannerscamp’s second feature.

The good news for you is:

-Piercing Strike doesn’t accomplish jack squat (Joke’s on him, I don’t even get three armor)

-you have a one up on maneuvers with Dead Sprint, Everlasting Hunger, and Warsprinter/AShrieker.

-Daqan have no Steadfast naturally, and they are going to usually blow Inspiration tokens on readying cards. So you should get some serious panic tests going.

Stacking inspiration doesn't avoid bannerscamp's second feature, when they use inspiration that only relieves one panic token...

Dead Sprint is not released yet, that is only a proxy item.

Carcophony Reaver is a must.

I intend to win with a 100% Rune Golem list.

Inspiration can also only be spent when the dial is revealed. If you can stack and spend before/after the dial flip it doesn't help them.

Bannerscamp’s second text only applies to the Rally modifier. Spending an inspiration token does not count as a rally AFAIK.

True. Although I wasn’t thinking that they use Inspiration on panic tokens. I’m thinking of how much I see Daqan use inspiration to ready exhausted cards. Other factions need to use Rally, which Bannerscamp then triggers.

The Rune Golem is obviously a prestige unit. When you really need to humiliate your opponent as well as win.

To clarify I mean when you have 3 panic and one inspiration. You still have 2 panic.

Game 1: Uthuk player 1, Daqan player 2

Starting runes

This setup kind of hampered the Uthuk. We are all bunched together and will get in each other's way later.

Round 1

x8lu63b.jpg

Out of the gates the Flesh Rippers move exceedingly quickly. Ravos and the first Berserkers move forward quickly as well. The Spined Threshers kind of slow roll, to the detriment of the second unit of Berserkers. The Oathsworn move forward as expected.

Round 2

GBhh7TL.jpg

yYEk6eZ.jpg

Ravos and the Berserkers quickly bring the Oathsworn down to manageable levels. Flesh rippers rip up a Rune Golem and are severely damaged by the crossbowmen.

Round 3

66yEmV2.jpg

Oathsworn remove the Berserkers, Ravos removes Oathsworn, Crossbowmen remove Ravos. This causes the painted Rune Golem to miss a charge. The Flesh Rippers move quickly down field to try to get out of the way of the crossbowmen. The Spined Threshers move in and the Berserkers that remain keep moving forward.

Round 4

Wi9lcn1.jpg

Spined Thresher on the left gets taken out by the crossbowmen. The Rune Golem misses the charge, again. The Berserkers miss their charge against the Rune Golems. Hawthorne engages the Flesh Rippers and whiffs. The right Spined Thresher gets a flank on the Rune Golem near it.

Round 5

Considering the state of my forces, I conceded the battle to get a second game in.

Uthuk move very fast. They do not like a slow roll start like Careful Approach.

Were do you get all your fancy tokens?

The inspiration were winnings from a tournament kit. The others were from Applied Persepective (no affiliation).

I know another company doing custom runewars stuff

http://www.cogotwo.com

Ive fancied putting down some cash for them, they sell throught other retailers, which is where I came across them. Not sure if they will get a cease order for making these

Cogs stuff is great @syrath

I've been a long-time fan of Applied Perspective. They look great, but I think I have to stick to cardboard tokens for the time being.

Tonight I'll try to post the follow up game.

Granted it has been some time, and I probably forgot a bit... oh well... there are pictures to post.

Get the right spelling, this time.

It's "Uthuk MEAT the Daqan"
