What gave it away, the uniforms?

Ach, die Erste Ordnung erinnert dich an das Dritte Reich?

DU IRRST DICH, DREI STUNDEN NACHSITZEN IN DER UMERZIEHUNGS-ANSTALT!

I mean seriously, whoever thinks these dudes have less than our best interest at heart is obviously wrong. Come on, they provide free education for life, food, nice outfits and free time synchronized activities with all your friends.

Can the First Order be called Nazis if they don’t persecute particular ethnicities? They still have all the other trappings including Ginger Hitler, secret occult stuff, and a predisposition for super weapons, so I guess that’s Nazi enough for me.

A nerd?

The First Order. Because Empire = Nazis in episode four through six was too subtle...

Nazis in British Accents, Now that is super evil.

The empire came into power legitimately to great applause, if space Isis hadn't kicked off on their holy war there would never have been a need to crack down, we could of instead focused on breaking the criminal cartels.

I also think of Scout Sniper however with that whole Marine sniper flag controversy (you know the one that looks like the last 2 letters the band Kiss used for their name) nothing can ever be that simple. Then again later there was a Staff Sergeant that got out and now leads a Neo-Nazi cell so yeah the world is more screwed up of a place than Life Day.

Also, at the end of A New Hope, there is not a single non-human at the medal ceremony other than Chewie.

C3-P0 and R2D2 aren't human .. but like the other non-human there, they also didn't receive a medal for their valour.

Yes, I'm beginning to agree with you.

Isn't there a rule about posting 'pawnograffy' on these forums? :)

[spelling intentional to dodge the FFG net nanny)

You know guys. The Swastika of Ion was always there...

It's C-3PO and R2-D2. Say it right or don't say it at all.

Nazi inspired rather than actual Nazis then? Nazi-esque militarism? Is Space Wehrmacht more appropriate?

I do agree that there tends to be way too many comparisons with Nazis in general.

They don't persecute other humans based on ethnicity because this is a space opera. Aliens have taken the place of ethnic groups, that should be obvious.

So if the Empire and the First Order are the Nazi's. Who is everyone else?

Han Solo = Humphry Bogart

Mandolorians = French Foreign Legion

Princess Leia = Winston Churchill

Except we don't even see any persecution of non-humans, except from word of mouth from Rebel individuals. Clearly its all lies and slander. The Empire's best Grand Admiral isn't a human, proof the Empire aren't evil space Nazis.

TheRebellion on the other hand is quite happy to send Bothans to die in their thousands just to steal a Lambda shuttle and some old codes, and the fact that Palpatine is touring a secret and very secure facility... Nobody even shed a tear when Mon Mothma said many bothans died. Nobody!

Literally using shot for shot remakes of Triumph of the Will.

Keeping in mind that the speech was literally a recreation of one given by Hitler, and the audience was literally a recreation of the one that listened to that speech...

I'm not saying you were involved with Charlottesville, but you probably want to stay off Reddit for a while.

Actually the Lambda wasn't stolen by the Bothans, but by Leia and her team, in Moving Target.

The Bothans only stole the "existence of the Death Star 2 and that Palpatine will be on it". "Many" doesn't have to be thousands. It could be a dozen or so, or somewhere between that and thousands.

It's not clear who got the code - but Leia's "the price we paid for it" does imply that it cost Rebel lives to obtain.

We also know from the Thrawn novel, that Thrawn had to face large amounts of Imperial prejudice, while working his way up the ranks.

Waiiiiiiiit wait wait wait wait. One raised clenched fist? That's something used by another group entirely.

We've only seen one stormtrooper without his helmet on.

Otherwise we've only seen Lando and one nameless Rebel pilot when it comes to the same ethnicity.

I think I know where all the black people in the Star Wars galaxy are...

I hear most stormtroopers come from the planet wakanda.

Nazis are a convenient shorthand for the evil that men do, especially since no one can justify their horrific actions and the world was in concensus that Hitler and Co. were bad guys. Soviets just don’t carry that same baggage since the endured far longer and their crimes against humanity went unknown or unaknowledged for decades, otherwise they would have been vilified to the same extent.

I guess that’s why Hydra and Cobra are mostly global terrorists with no default ethnicity, nationality or racially motivated eugenics policy, they get to be Nazis without the explicit antisemitism or national shame.

Yes, I'm beginning to agree with you.

Han captained the Falcon, which was crewed by Chewie. Chewie also didn’t have a choice in supporting the rebels or being a hero since he, you know, had the whole life debt thing.

Luke piloted his fighter, which had R2 as ‘crew’. R2 is also property, even if he’s well liked.

3PO...getting a medal? Really? Come on.

while we are at it, why didn’t Wedge get a medal? Maybe because he didn’t RESCUE THE PRINCESS and ensure the plans made it to the rebel’s in the first place. All wedgie did was what Han, Luke and every other pilot in the rebellion did, fly in a mission against the DS.
