Like, it's all laser? Or does the laser go around a solid blade?

Depends on the game. Some are one some are the other.

Sure, but I mean as a lightsaber.

Having a mechanical genius as a party member is a real bonus when it comes to customizing equipment.
I was thinking about combining a saber with an energy buckler like this:
to make something akin to this crazy thing (knuckle spikes optional):
It's a bit stupid looking, but it's historically accurate stupid looking. Probably more useful than your average double bladed light saber as well.

As a Lightsaber I guess there would be a larger less cylindrical more rounded rectangle emitter that produces an actual blade shape rather than the traditional one. Idk if there would be any actually advantages to this. Would just look cool.

Looking cool IS an actual advantage.
Consider capes.
I rest my case.
I think saber chuks is fantastic. I mean, no one is gonna know how to respond to that for a good few seconds, which compared to traditional dueling methods might be enough to deliver a telling blow somewhere. These kinda things we house rule as duelphasing; that surprise tactic that denies them an casual defence until they get it.
Personally I am partial to combo weapons; a lightsaber built into the grip of a dueling pistol? Hide one within a swordcane? Make the salarb of another sword an emitter? Might not be as confortable as a dedicated weapon but much more concealable.
My personal favourate was a belt saberpike I wore. Basically the entire emitter was built into the buckle with the hilt made out some exotic polymer that constricts around the waist when not in use.. In short, I take the large belt off and it contracts and extends to form a short pike, most inquisitors usually don't see it coming, usually followed by some quip or other. "Usually I would buy you dinner first, but for you-" *crack* "I will make an exception."
So the New Vader Comic (009) has the Jedi Librarian Inserting her lightsaber into a gun. And than Firing the "lightrifle"?? at Vader
Weird!
Okay Found a pic, So Jedi Jocasta Inserted her lightsaber into the top of this rifle, and than shot at Vader with it. So far have only seen one shot, no autofire
When I was entertaining the idea of getting Force Sensitivity for my swoop racer, I considered having him rebuild his signature heavy stun pistol to use a Kimber Stone (stun damage crystal) as the focusing crystal for the blaster mode, as well as switch to an awkwardly shaped lightsaber when in melee.
This talk of mixing kaiber crystals with guns reminds me of something someone once told me about these blaster pistol slinging Jedi called the tweepo Jedi
I love the idea of flat katana style lightsaber blades.
That's how the darksaber from Clone Wars and Rebels looks.

The original is kept in the Viennese Royal Armory. It's a multi-tool; lamp, gauntlet, shield, spikes and swordblade.
Could be based on the Shield Gauntlet, combined with a lightsaber hilt. But what would the benefit be? Defensive can be had with less effort ...
Would definitely get a setback in addition to being able to do stuff. There is a reason it didn't become standard issue !

Maybe it can't be disarmed?

The idea was born from an attempt to put the guard shoto/defensive lightsaber statline to something less suicidally stupid, so the bar for practicality was set pretty low.

If Someone wanted to craft one, I'd be fine with using the defensive lightsaber template with the crossguard addition. It's not technically a crossguard, but the rules mechanics fit well enough .
If I made rules from scratch for a lantern shield lightsaber, I'd maybe go with Defensive 2, Deflective 1, Inaccurate 1 or 2, Damage: (crystal -1) and can't be disarmed. I'd consider Unwieldy as well, but 3 seems too much and 2 somewhat pointless.
EDIT: Also worth noting. The lantern shield is a shield with a sword tacked on, not the other way around. From what I've gathered it's supposed to be used in the off hand, supporting a main hand weapon. This is backed up by the fact that the depicted weapon, and every other I've seen (might be, or based on, that particular weapon) is made for left hand use.

Question: in Ep8 during the Power Rangers fight scene, Kylo switches on the lightsaber Rey throws to him and it instantly incinerates the head of the guy holding him. If lightsabers work like flashlights, why does anyone use them like swords?
Don't know but wrong thread
I've watched the videos where the bat'leth was debunked as a atupid weapon. However i distinctly remember a main reason being the lack of momentum generated when swung, compared to a sword.
No with a saber cutting through almost anything like butter would a bat'leth like saber actually be effective?
What are weapon designs that would only work because lightsaber's lack of weight, and ability to cut through things without having to apply much force?
This isn't exactly what i have in mind but...
closer but still too busy
Something like this
I'm no expert, but to me the obvious flaw of the bat'leth seems to me the combination of being large and yet lacking reach or leverage for cutting power. Lightsaber blades only remedies the latter. It seems a bat'leths primary strength would be as a defensive weapon as the grip with two hands widely spaced would lend itself to powerful blocks, but it would also limited to almost literal knife-fight range where it would be vulnerable to small quick weapons like, well, knives.
Granted a lightsaber bladed bat'leth would help in this case at it needs little or no momentum to be dangerous, but I think a bat'leth would have trouble closing against an opponent with a standard lightsaber, and if your enemy can reach you, but you can't reach him, it's only a matter of time before your defense fails.
That said, against non-lightsaber weapons it would be pretty nasty, being able to cut them into ribbons even on the defense, and then closing at your leisure. It does seem a bit unwieldy for deflecting blasters as well, but that's mostly done by space magic anyway.
