TIE Silencer-Generics

By Celestial Lizards, in X-Wing

Ok finally we get the generics for everyone's new favorite arc-dodger:

Sienar-Jaemus Analyst (26)

First Order Test Pilot (29)

Builds? I can think of a few... mwa ha ha!

First Order Test Pilot (29)
Push the Limit (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
Threat Tracker (3)
Autothrusters (2)
First Order Test Pilot (29)
Push the Limit (3)
Fire-Control System (2)
Threat Tracker (3)
Autothrusters (2)
"Zeta Ace" (18)
Threat Tracker (3)
Total: 99
Sienar-Jaemus Analyst (26)
Collision Detector (0)
Primed Thrusters (1)
Sienar-Jaemus Analyst (26)
Collision Detector (0)
Primed Thrusters (1)
Zeta Specialist (23)
Special Ops Training (0)
Zeta Specialist (23)
Special Ops Training (0)
Total: 100

I might have to get two Silencers now...

IF I end up with two, a huge IF, this will be a fun squad I'm wagering:

(36) TIE Silencer "Blackout" PS7 (31): Trick Shot (0), Collision Detector (0), Autothrusters (2), Title (2), Advanced Optics (2)

(31) TIE Silencer "Sienar" PS4 (26): Fire Control Systems (2), Autothrusters (2), Advanced Optics (2)

(16) TIE/FO "Epsilon Squadron Pilot" PS1 (15)

(16) TIE/FO "Epsilon Squadron Pilot" PS1 (15)

29 for the first order test pilot is a point more than I'd hoped. It does put some clear water between the Seinar-Jamus Analyst and the First Order Test Pilot

You're paying a hefty 3 points for that elite upgrade (and a PS increase, but 4-6 isn't a massively useful increase)

I think three generics with Fire Control System/Advanced Optics/Autothrusters might work. I'm not sure what to do with the First Order Test Pilot - if you can't really afford 3 ships (and you can't) then you're stuck with one or two silencers and 'stuff' (TIE/fo, TIE/sf, whatever) and at that point it's hard to argue for the First Order Test Pilot in favour of the uniques.

  • Seiner-Jamus Analyst x 3
    • Fire Control System
    • Advanced Optics
    • Autothrusters

Or

  • First Order Test Pilot x 3
    • Wired
    • Collision Detector
    • Primed Thrusters
    • Autothrusters

The latter will have much more fun hooning around in debris clouds and pulling off talon rolls, but the former just seems more capable in a 'normal' fight.

I see Threat tracker as for the Low Pilot skill ships. It's essentially allows them to move after all the other ships if they need too. I think this is where it is really intended.

Yep.

No way in **** I am buying 3 of them (maybe not even 2) but this list looks like a lot of fun:

Sienar-Jaemus Analyst (26) X 3
Fire-Control System (2)
Threat Tracker (3)
Autothrusters (2)

Total: 99

I might try this list though:

Countess Ryad (34)
Crack Shot (1)
TIE/x7 (-2)

Glaive Squadron Pilot (34)
Crack Shot (1)
TIE/x7 (-2)

First Order Test Pilot (29)
Crack Shot (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Autothrusters (2)

Total: 100

The Defenders just straight up Joust and the Test Pilot moves out on a flank.

If you have a target lock.

Sienar-Jamus Analysts with Threat Trackers, Fire Control System, and Autothrusters could work, but the problem is that during the initial pass, you've probably not got a target lock. In subsequent rounds, it may be worth it.

I think on a PS9 (or even PS11) Kylo Ren, it's arguably better - letting you shoot, pick up a lock from a fire control, and then spend it to roll out of arc before the return fire comes in.... (of course, the argument is that a higher PS and Elite upgrade makes every option better).

By comparison, Advanced Optics opens up your manouvrability in the opening round, by letting you bank a focus for the opening engagement, so you can barrel roll or boost and not be tokenless.

True, but there are ways to get the target lock from your buddies. I don't see it as a huge problem

True in turn, but the Targeting Synchroniser and Threat Tracker is using the same slot, so a sort of 'networked threat tracker' doesn't really work.

I guess you could fit out a Starkiller Base Pilot (or Stridan) to play AWACs but I suspect you'll run out of points fast trying to fit in that and two silencers.

PS4 generic is PHENOMENAL. That's amazingly cheap for the statline. Can run a basic FCS/AT kit for 30 points of generic pain, or throwing in a tech to give it even more utility.

Generally the idea with FCS is to initially poke into R3 and shoot but not really care if you hit because you got your TL now.

I am so used to doing this with SFs and Vipers now its second nature. Flew Blackout and instinctively did the same thing (but i had adv sensors rofl)
