Imperial assault #4 on bgg hotness list

By The Cocky Rooster, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I wonder how long until #1?

I was thinking about getting into IA, but FFG lists all IA Core, Expansions, Packs and Maps as "Not Available" and nothing IA is listed under Upcoming Products. Is FFG killing off IA because of Legion?

No.

The rumor goes that FFG cannot list IA for sale on their website as it is a "board game" and Hasbro has the license for all Star Wars board games. Reportedly that was the deal struck to allow FFG to continue with the release of the game as a "miniatures game" without additional legal issues occurring. IA is readily available at most other locations.

Thanks.

That's awesome news!

I was skeptical that the app would give the game the shot in the arm that so many expected- but honestly, I think it's doing more than even many of the optimists among us imagined.

If by 'killing off' you mean beefing up IA by injecting steroid-like tons of awesome units, digital content, and tokens for both campaign AND skirmish? Then yes.

As another said, this is widely available and restocked everywhere, even FFG's physical store at HQ.

Don't know if that's a serious question or you're just new here. In either case continue reading from here:

Not surprised. Before this week, I hadn't touched IA since March.

Gloomhaven stepped in and was a balm for the burn I had got from IA. True Co-Op! The wife(not a hardcore table top gamer at all) and I loved playing GH with friends, we still do.

I can honestly say that the App for IA is going to put me off Gloomhaven for awhile. Sure, Gloomhaven has a more interesting combat design, but IA is Star Wars! I miss rolling dice too. All I want to do is play IA now, and I think the feeling among my gamer friends will be similar.

Dropped to #13 :(

Well, it's a competitive time of the year. Still not bad for a three year old game.

The Descent app really shot its sales way up too. I expect even bigger sales for IA.

Dropped to #15 but has climbed back up to #14.

Ah, reminds me of the good old days on the IMDb boards where fans whined and cheered about certain movies making the top 250 list.

That would explain Rebellion and the expansion as well... but if they can release/sell it as a "miniatures game" why not simply label it as that and sell it on the website again? I think there are some additional wrinkles to this story.

Because FFG started and continued to market it as "Board Game". Also, the skirmish mode was a late addition in the design cycle.

There are no additional wrinkles, there are just the ones we know exist but we don't know the exact details. We know for certain that there is an agreement with Hasbro, we don't know what exactly it contains.

Down to #20 :(
