Need help with squad creation.

By Bagern, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi, I am still pretty new to this game and miniature games overall.

I am playing X-wing with my friend and I have been trying to make a fair Rebel vs Empire squads, but everytime it felt little bit unfair for one side. (My friend does not own any sets)

Could anyone recommend me some squads?

The sets I own: Core set (original)

Tie Defender and Tie Interceptor

B-Wing and A-wing

Thanks in advance.

Who usually wins? Several of those ships received boosts in later expansions like rebel aces and imperial veterans as they were deemed to be under powered, but often changing how you fly will help. My advice is to ignore Missiles and torpedos, none of the ones you have access to are especially good.

Remember on sites like X wing squad builder you can print out cards so you can proxy them until your collection grows.

The empire usually wins, which most of the time I am flying with.

We have used missiles very rarely. But we often used the proton torpedoes on B-wing and sometimes on the x-wing.

Without turrets or higher attack dice, your rebels will have trouble doing damage to these imperials. Some buying suggestions:

I think a K Wing may balance out the force here. Scurrg is also good and can be an intro onto the third faction (I love deadeye w/ synced turret). The Imperial Veterans would be an excellent boost to the imps you have.

Thanks for recommendation.

I think I will be getting the K-Wing to balance it out, and after some time I will add Rebel Aces and Imperial Veterans.

In particular, I recommend using Proxy for upgrades!!!!! In particular the Rebel side. A, needs test pilot and chardaan, B is a lil better when it can use a crew and the X must have integrated astro if no other mod is preferred. As casual players, don't be afraid to use pilots you don't have cards for also. For example, Biggs flying with maybe Keyan and a GSP blocker with PTL and Wired or Snap-shot and Juke. if the points fit a torp on Biggs isn't the worst, but I would keep Kyan relatively cheap, cuz even with Biggs, the Nerf means Keyan will likely be the first target. I'll play around with points and come up with something

I tried to build up some squads if I bought the K-Wing.

For Rebels: Miranda Doni with Plasma Torpedoes, Extra Munitions, Conner Net, Ion Bombs, Twin Laser Turret, Bombardier and Advanced Slam. + Ibtisam with Elusiveness, Ion Cannon, and Fire - Control System. + Prototype Pilot with Chardaan Refit(proxy).

For Imperials: Soontir Fel with Daredevil + Mauler Mithel with Outmaneuver + Black Squadron Pilot with Predator + Delta Squadron Pilot with Ion Cannon and TIE/D Title (proxy).

I think I maybe over-equipped the K-Wing.

EDIT: After some more reading, I think I should remove the Ion Bombs.

So, Toyed with my idea and the points. Not sure its amazing, but it should be interesting

Green Squadron Pilot (28) - A-Wing

Push The Limit (3), Proton Rockets (3), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Autothrusters (2), Wired (1)

•Keyan Farlander (41) - B-Wing

Push The Limit (3), Fire Control System (2), Seismic Torpedo (2), Extra Munitions (2), B-Wing/E2 (1), •Jan Ors (2)

•Biggs Darklighter (31) - X-Wing

•R2-D6 (1), Proton Torpedoes (4), Integrated Astromech (0), Crack Shot (1)

So, fly in for a joust formation, trying to land just outside rng 3. Then send the A in fast to cause a block. A should TL/evade or focus/evade most the time (if no boost), with wired he re-rolls focus. Biggs should likely use his ability the first time it looks like Keyan will get focused and should try and push damage with that torp early with crack. Keyan should PTL as often as possible and use the stress for off focus. Jan can make any focus taken by Biggs or Keyan an evade instead.

Sounds cool. I am sure I will try it out later.
