First Order Only Lists Viable?

By Admiral Sylva, in X-Wing

So I ran this last night against a Rey list and did really well:

Kylo Ren (TIE Silencer) (35)
Push the Limit (3)
Advanced Sensors (3)
Primed Thrusters (1)
Autothrusters (2)
First Order Vanguard (2)

Major Stridan (32)
Sensor Jammer (4)
Systems Officer (2)
Rebel Captive (3)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Advanced Optics (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Kylo Ren's Shuttle (2)

Total: 97

It was able to give out actions, boost after a red maneuver, hand stress out like candy, and punch like Mike Tyson. I am considering switching out fleet officer for tactician, but that might nerf the title.

They seem to have switched to 'generic-sounding call-sign' from XYZ Leader, now, though.

Although I have to register my concern with the idea of the first order turning over it's irreplacable prototype superiority fighter to someone whose call-sign is "Blackout"....

Yeah you can make a generic ranking tree from it all.

  1. Pilot
  2. Specalist
  3. Veteran
  • Ace
  • Leader

Ace and Leader being the Unique and all.

Heck While working on trying to make an expansion for HotAC with Scum Pirates (new villain) and Allied Wingman that could be a good use of your allied wingman. Also make it a set of skills or abilities that your wingman can have. Generic Pilots have none while Specialist and Veterans have some rather weak ones but could be pretty interesting. Ace and Leaders are unique abilities that cannot be shared and when the pilot is lost so is that ability.

You'll need upgrade cards that are only available in other non-FO packs, but you can buy the cards individually on ebay. There's not that many FO ships yet, but none of them are bad ships.

I ran

VI Blackout w/ title, adv. sensors, threat tracker and ATs

Stridan w/ systems officer and FCS

Zeta Ace w/ trick shot and threat tracker.

at my local tournament last night. All 3 games were super close, and fun. I was 2-1, but it could have been any record.

My first game came down to my win, 62-60. I think I killed quickdraw and a bomber shuttle. He got blackout, who I lost early, and half on the shuttle. Last shot he had on Zeta ace, where Zeta had one hull remaining. He gets 4 hits, I roll 3 evades and an evade token, for the win.

Second game, no kills, not even half points on shuttle, final salvo, I get 5 hits on 9 dice, he gets 3 on 8, I think. my win 0-0

Third game, lots o' furball. near the end of the game, he ps kills the shuttle, which saves his 1-hull blackout, tried to pursue with my blackout, but couldn't catch him in time. loss 36-0

Big learning curve if I want to build the silencer like the big boys. Practice, Practice, Practice!

I have a lot of fun with Stridan (Fleet Officer, Pattern Analyzer) and three F/O Omegas (Comm Relay, Crack Shot).

It's just simple; I don't tourney so I can't say it's competitive but it's thematic at least.

All PS4, so I can arrange my maneuvers accordingly, Stridan extends Fleet Officer to range 3 so after Comm Relay, at least two of the F/O's will be stacked with a Focus and a TL/Barrel.
