First Order's Targeting Synchronizer

Trying to think of fun ways to play with the new glory coming to the First Order

First Order Target Synergy (100/100)
===================================
TIE Silencer: Kylo Ren (35 + 11)
+ Push the Limit (3)
+ Advanced Sensors (3)
+ Threat Tracker (3)
+ Autothrusters (2)
Upsilon-class Shuttle: Starkiller Base Pilot (30 + 3)
+ Courier Droid (0)
+ Targeting Synchronizer (3)
TIE/FO Fighter: "Omega Ace" (20 + 1)
+ Veteran Instincts (1)

Both Kylo's Threat Tracker and Omega Aces can use the upsilons targeting synxhronizer is the plan. Courier Droid in there because its free to be honest

Omega Ace is.....okay, I guess. But whilst his pilot ability looks nice on paper, it's not all that great in practice:

  • By the time you're spending focus & target lock together on an attack, you're 94% likely to get all hits anyway.
  • Two automatic criticals sounds nice, but given that the first one probably splashes on a shield, or gets evaded by green dice...it's not actually achieving that much more than (say) a much cheaper Omega Squadron Pilot with Calculation.
  • The Starkiller Base Pilot has a 4-dice primary weapon. Giving up his target lock to let your 46 point ace dodge a range 1 firing squad after being blocked, I can see. Spending it on a TIE fighter with delusions of grandeur - wouldn't you prefer the reroll on that 4-dice big stick?

Where Omega Ace comes into his own is when given Swarm Leader, or Opportunist, or Trick Shot, or....essentially any way to give him more attack dice. Because every extra die is an extra automatic critical when you drop his ability.

He does have the advantage that you should be able to trigger I'll Show You The Dark Side easily, but....unlike Kylo Ren's crew version, you can't control who gets it, so you don't know if it'll be attached to anyone important.

If you're not able to spring for those EPTs (and they're usually expensive) then I'd pass on Omega Ace and instead look at Zeta Leader. For the same price, Zeta Leader with Wired is much more capable and independent - 3-dice attack, rerolling focus, gets the same rerolls on defence, and can still have an evade token on top.

What about....

36 TIE Silencer "Blackout" PS7 (31): Trick Shot (0), Collision Detector (0), Autothrusters (2), Title (2), Advanced Optics (2)

38 Upsilon-class Shuttle: "Starkiller Base Pilot" (30): Targeting Synchronizer (3), Hyperwave Comm Scanner (1), Rebel Captive (3), Intelligence Agent (1)

26 TIE/FO Fighter: "Omega Leader" (21): Juke (2), Comm Relay (3)

Both fantastic suggestions, thank you!!!!!

Note that you can't use Target Synch on Threat Tracker. Target Synch only works when attacking, which you're not when using Threat Tracker.

But it does allow you to spend YOUR lock on Tracker, and still have a lock to mod your attack with via Synch.

Nice list except for one thing. It's 101 points. With that load out, Blackout is 37, not 36, points.

Thanks @T70 Driver , it’s that math thing, isn’t it?

How about:

36 TIE Silencer "Blackout" PS7 (31): Trick Shot (0), Collision Detector (0), Autothrusters (2), Title (2), Advanced Optics (2)

Yeah, that's what I did to fix the list. However, if you're like me and are not very skilled flying large based ships, you can also replace the shuttle with a 3rd ace. My choice is Quickdraw with VI, title, FCS, Advanced Optics and LWF for 36 points.
