1 Rebel Smuggler box w/ Ashoka

I'm still a bit mystified by the term "box." Is that describing keeping Han/Jyn with 3PO?

I'm also curious if anyone has tried it from the Merc side with Jyn and Onar for the extra evade?

Something like:

Temp Alliance 1
Jyn 5 (Can get evades from Onar and 3PO)
Gideon 3

Onar 6

Elite Jawa 3
3PO 2

Leaves you 20 points:
FoK IG/Black Market/EQuays (Hunter focus)

Vinto/Greedo/EQuay/Jawa (Smuggler focus)

EClawdite/Greedo/Vinto/R2-D2/Black Market/??? (Utility focus -- extra evade from Clawdite Senator, lots of command card action)

Also confused by the term "alpha strike" -- is that just anything that gets you high damage in round one, like focused erangers?

yup, "Box" is mostly a term for keeping those figures together. I think Jyn has some promise in the merc faction, but so far I haven't been able to leave Hera behind.

alpha strike, mostly refers to hunters being able to put out massive damage. Focused, but also throwing on a tools for the job and/or assassinate to push max damage through in a single shot.

So, the box has a few meanings, but essentially a group of figures that work together, usually meaning Jynn or Han (only Jynn in this example) with 3p0.

That's the general idea, but the Zion's Finest uses "the box" as Kenny's idea of 3p0 and MHD, where you all stay within 3 spaces, getting the evade bonus, being able to hide and heal, and play a war of attrition. His list is usually: 3p0, MHD, Jynn, Lando, Mak, Ashoka, Gideon, Hera, R2. Spies control hand size, Jynn and Lando stun away forcing an painful approach, and Ashoka picks off people trying to get objectives. He lost on Raining Freight since the problem with the box is mobility.

Update on the Muncie, IN regional: Louis did, in fact, end up winning the whole thing with his Ugnaught swarm. He talks more about his experience in his new podcast below. Sounds like the runner-up was basically a variation of @brettpkelly 's Rebel jank.

Interesting. I'm tempted to try running Saska Teft for access to the crazy potential of an EClaw. Make them really think about shooting Jyn!

12 ▪ Han Solo
6 ▪ Saska Teft
6 Clawdite Shapeshifter
5 ▪ Jyn Odan
5 ▪ MHD-19
5 ▪ Jarrod Kelvin
2 ▪ C-3P0
1 ▪ Smugglers Run
-2 ▪ Rogue Smuggler

@GottaBadFeelingAboutThis as much as I want it to work, I don't think Saska is a good value. Her surges, range, and health are all weak, and 6 points is a lot. The question you have to ask is...are you getting the same value out of saska+clawdite that you would out of eRangers or Jedi Luke?

Yeah, I agree. It really is too bad -- Saska's contacts is such a fun idea, especially with smuggler/spy combo, but I'd agree that you can't justify her points, especially compared to the versatility Mercs get out of EJawa. Saska's a glorified Alliance Smuggler with a lesser version of Bossk's power for way too many points.

I'm curious if anyone knows how that "Chaotic Force" build with "Under Duress" fared overall?

I've been trying to put together a Headhunter control build for a while, and it always seems to come up short on damage:

http://tabletopadmiral.com/imperialassault/2f2403981b748661687900000000008f52c40b0f580592c65ea10e171cb4

EGams for raw dmg vs Vader/Han
ESabs for spy/stun/obj
NTrandoshans w/Headhunter for forced discards
Clawdite for Hunter/Defense Tokens
Jyn for stun
NJawa for extra strain/terminals/black market

I played in the Chartres, France regional this past Sunday, I think there were 22 of us. I played a 9 activation Han/Rangers list, which went undefeated throughout the day.

  • Elite Alliance Rangers (12)
  • Han Solo with Rogue Smuggler (10)
  • Hera (4)
  • Gideon (3)
  • R2-D2 (3)
  • C-3PO (2)
  • 3x Regular Alliance Smuggler (6)

Command cards:

  • On the Lam (3)
  • Assassinate (3)
  • Heightened Reflexes (2)
  • Call the Vanguard (2)
  • I Make My Own Luck (2)
  • Tough Luck (1)
  • Concentrated Fire (1)
  • Negation (1)
  • Take Initiative (0)
  • Positioning Advantage (0)
  • Planning (0)
  • Ready Weapons (0)
  • Stimulants (0)
  • Element of Surprise (0)
  • Officer's Training (0)

I wrote a detailed battle report here .

I don't remember if he made top 8 or not, but I beat him round 2 at the 0-1 table so he had at least two losses. Check out my batrep a few pages back if you want to know his full list. From what I could tell his primary strain dealers with Chopper, Bossk, and IG.

He made the top 8 at 2-2 before losing in the 1st round of cut.

I'm fairly sure here... again, you can watch the semi and final on twitch/kirtongames.com and see them

Thanks for the stream! If you're open to feed back.. I found the three announcers to be a bit much, they were talking a lot off topic. I'm all for having fun, but it was really hard to follow what was going on in the game with people talking over each other and they only called about 1/4 of what was actually going on. As a result I couldn't really tell what command cards the Chewie player was using, anyway you have that list or does he post here to ask directly?

Thanks mate, although I wasn't one of the commentators during the final, I was sat next to Dan watching and haven't watched it back again yet. I'll pass the feedback on though!

Having said that myself and Tris were commentating on the first round of you've watched that so please do let me know if there's anything we could have improved there as I think we both enjoyed doing it.

I'm not sure what the command list was I'm afraid so can't help you there, James may be able to add it to the video once it's up on the Kirton games YouTube channel so that might be your best bet.

I generally find that they're pretty similar though and in the most part just the odd flavour choice

*edit* here it is with list

I will try the following in a Germany Regional:

  1. Han with RS
  2. Obi-Wan
  3. Ahsoka
  4. E-Rebel Sabs
  5. Gideon
  6. Mak
  7. C3PO

Plan is to cancel the cards from Han and Chewie with Comm Disruption. Also got heavy hitters with pierce 3 for Vader, Chewie etc.

E-Sabs with 5 movement for objectives. And a focused Mak is not to be underestimated.....

Totally agree

Played in the Gautier,Mississippi regionals yesterday at maCnarB gaming.Played han/e.rangers/e.echo base/gideon/3po/2 regular smugglers and balance of the force.Went 5-1,placing second against some really good players.Good variety of lists. Two vader lists,a little different from each other(one had riot troopers instead of second elite jets).A han/chewie list. And a few different variations of the scum hunter lists.A Terro/dewback/e.jets list. There was even two lists with Maul and jabba in them. The winner played a unique scum hunter list and I had played earlier and beat on Nal Hutta but the final match was on Jabba's and he had the good deployment side and piece mealed my list.Hiding his wounded where han couldn't get end of round kills on wounded figures.Overall had a good experience and the gamestore was awesome even throwing in a lot of extra prize support in the mix.Only down side is that the gamestore was a 9 hour drive away from me.So we got up in the middle of the night and drove there(9 hours)then played(started at 11am)12 hours(end of finals,11pm)only to get back in car and drive 9 hours home.So it was a 31 or so hour day.The things we put ourselves through to get the shiny new stuff(dice).Had a blast, met some new people, saw some others from past regionals and nationals and generally had a great weekend playing a game I love and spending a roadtrip with my daughter(who mostly slept).I found that most people tried not to kill han,out of 6 games he only took damage two games(dying each game).MVP goes to my rangers who were doing ranger things from 10 spaces away all day.

I REALLY wanted the new dice and now seeing them i am glad i was awake 31 or so hours to get them.Just glad that my play was not effected by being tired. But a 10 or so hour day is regular for a xwing store championship or regional,so glad it was IA and in a chair instead of hovering over a table.

I think it's great that people are willing to drive to regional events. Nice work on the second place finish--it's pretty remarkable considering the time you put in that day. Enjoy your sparkling chance cubes, well deserved.

**** 9 hours.. makes me feel like a wuss for not wanting to drive 6...
