I'll be shocked if this is a trend. There's some good potential with Han and Chewy being added to lists. I feel like right now people are more interested in trying out their shiny new droids and dark helmet.

And the funny thing is that the Drokatta list was actually a Merc list, so only half counts?
Just so that it can be part of the record for this season, I'm linking to the Dutch Nationals results.
Unfortunately I'm not seeing any Regionals in the US and Canada last weekend. Any other big events or EU regionals to report?
Edited by ThatJakeGuyI'll be going to the Bellevue, WA regionals on Feb. 3rd. I am keeping my current list for now because it has won me 2 local tournaments.
Deployment Cards
I cant remember all of the command cards off the top of my head at the moment. My thought process is that the imperial officer can run around doing objectives and order someone if he really has to. On Anchorhead, I usually block up the middle section and let the opposing objective players go toward me. With multi-fire, fly-by, flamethrower and the presence of Vader the opponent usually cannot make their way through and I pick them off. If there are just a few enemies nearby, I can move around a bit more with my troops.
On Jabba's Palace, I separate my force to defend the throne room and the "statue court." I have only played New Leadership, so I control the crates in both rooms and try to kill enemies while holding my ground.
On Nal Hutta, I go for one side of the map and have most of my guys stay there. I move my eJets more toward the middle to pick off enemies there (which there always seems to be very little) and control more crates. On the other mission, (Raining Freight I believe) I advance most of my guys down the middle to control as many crates as possible. I also position my troops within close range of exhausted enemies so more crates land near me.
In my experience, either Terro or Vader dies. Never both, but usually Terro. The opponent always wants to get rid of these guys, so I let them and pick them off with the rest of my troops.
Do we have any results from the Regionals in Georgia? How about anything from any kit tournaments over the holidays weekends?
I participated in the Atlanta regionals today, but I’m not sure who ended up winning (sadly I didn’t do well enough to stick around till the end).
Today was actually the first competitive event I’ve been too, as I’ve only gotten into skirmish in the past couple of months. I ended up going 2-2, but I lost my first two matches so I was pretty happy to bounce back and win my last two. I ran the following:
Elite Gammorean
Elite Weequay
Jabba
Onar
Vinto
Greedo
3PO (with temporary alliance)
Black Market
I’m not sure of the exact breakdown but it seemed like there were more Imperial lists than anything; I saw a lot of Vader/Palp/ double Jet etc. I think there was an AT-DP and some Elite Sentries in the top 8 as well.
I had a blast playing today; all of my opponents were great sports (which has been my experience with pretty much everyone I’ve come into contact with since I’ve gotten into IA), and I’m hoping to attend some more events in the future!
I wasn't able to stick around and I didn't get to see all the lists, but the top 4 were 1 Rebel (Han, Lando, Rangers), 1 Imperial (Double Sentries, Double Jets) and two IG-88 Merc lists.
From the video ( A little difficult to watch) IG-88 versus the Double Sentries, Double Jets. Winner was Gage Middleton with IG-88 Mercenaries.
@Pintofstout How many Vader lists do you remember? Also, what was the total turnout?
Congrats again on your top 8 finish!
-ryanjamal
There were 4 vader palp list. A rebel jedi list, a rebel spy, atdp list, a few ranger list. A couple han ranger list. And the rest were ig hunters. 18 players
Edited by IamtheBendu@Pintofstout Nice finish!
On that final map (in the video), they're playing the objective w/ retrieving crates and returning them to stashes... and they missed putting the extra two crates in the middle of the map.
I feel for the 2nd place dude. He opened a door and watched IG-88 Blaze of Glory a significant portion of his army before he could activate anything in the 2nd round.
Edited by cnemmickGA regional Update.
I'm a relatively new player, and haven't done any battle reports before, so no promises here, but this is what I have.
My list: IG, double eQuay, Greedo, eJawa, 3po, Gideon, black market, temp alliance.
Round 1 : Opponent was James M, 2 eSentry, 2 eJets, 2 rofficers, Rule by Fear, Zillo
We drew Nal Hutta, Shielded. I focused and hid a set of weequay and moved 3po and the weequays up to towards the right. I was on the side with the lake. His officers started moving up his squad and it looked like they were coming middle to my right. I continued to force my army to the right. He then moved a set of sentries and jets to his right, my left. This spread out caused a lot of problems for me. I double moved Greedo to my left and held a shield.
He had one jet hold a shield on my right. I moved IG up and damaged the jet, but didn't kill it.
Round 2 he played call of the vanguard and fuel upgrade. He was also within 1 of the shields. He played this map very well, and I constantly had shots that would have been kills come up 1 short because of the multiple surge blocks. Between the shield, fuel upgrade, agile, and zillo getting damage through wasn't as good as expected.
As round 2 continued we were constantly within a couple points of each other. Round 3 I had multiple figures with 1 health, but my biggest problem were my weequays. On Nal Hutta, by originally going to the right, I couldn't get them back into the fight on the far left. I was stuck with too much on one side and no help for Greedo over on the left. At the start of Round 3 it looked like I was still going to get it, but James simply outplayed me on the mission.
It was a good match, and he won 39-34. He went on to make the cut. Congrats James.
Round 2 : Opponent was Buddy. His list was eRangers (*2), Chopper, Hera, 3po, Gideon, smuggler, RHC.
We drew Nal Hutta again, this time raining freight. 2 sets of Rangers on Nal Hutta, that's just crate.....
This time I was across from the lake, intending on building a hive around 3po on the right side of the 2 impassable terrain spaces. He started moving up and to his left for cover. He had 3 rangers focused. He moved one ranger off to his far left, my right, to get a crate. I sent IG over to the right to kill that ranger. His chopper was on the terminal, so i expected a shock. I intended to use black market for card draw, but accidentally left greedo next to the terminal, no big deal. Round 2 started and again Call of the Vanguard was played (every game this happened start of round 2).
He used it to take a long focused shot on Greedo, so that system shock ended up being more important than I had thought it was, Greedo dead, no accuracy for the return shot.
With his army bunched up on my far right, I decided to start getting some crates. As I moved my army back to the left, I stopped to get crates along the way. I killed 3 Rangers round 2, and Greedo was still my only loss.
IG was king of stranded so I decided to quickly kill the smuggler on the terminal, he mad moved chopper back to save him. I fired at the smuggler, xmen. Well... I guess I'll waste both shots on the smuggler, rolled again.....xmen. That wasn't meant to be.
Round 3 started and I focused down the other rangers. We ended up at 38-17. I was happy to overcome 2 sets Rangers on Nal Hutta.
Round 3 : Opponent: Jeff, his list was: Vinto, rHired Guns, eQuay (*2), Hera, Jawa, Gideon, 3po, R2.
We drew Jabba's Realm and the spoils mission. With 9 activations, I passed to him twice as we got started. I was on the bottom of the map, where the terminal is 4 to the right. His door got opened early. I hid and focused my Equay in the bottom corridor. I ran Greedo half way out into the middle of his army. He attacked greedo with a focused weequay and I rolled a blank, so I used on the lam and moved greedo up to his terminal to negate his card at the end of round 1.
Round 2 I moved up and started taking shots at his figures. He used vinto to shoot at Greedo twice, who was still alive. He played draw to get the kill and I rolled an X. He brought someone up to kill greedo who used a parting shot to kill a hired gun was close and didn't have a parting shot of his own. By the end of round 2 it was 24-8 and Jeff called it. He was very nice, and we had a good dialogue, but the dice didn't go his way at all.
Round 4 : Opponent: Jason F, his list was: Palp, Vader, eJets (*2), officer (*2), Zillo. The standard Vader/Palp list.
I've been struggling with Vader over the last month or so, as people seem to be consistently running with him, soaking up lots of damage and then fleeing the battle, leaving you holding empty bullet casings and no points. This was mainly why I decided to switch my list at the end and go with IG. I was sitting at 2-1, and needed a win. I got paired up against Jason who was 3-0, my odds weren't looking good at getting in.
We drew Mos Eisley, but unfortunately it was the crate running mission. We both moved up into our zones to prepare for round 2. He advanced up to the doors on both sides, looking like there would be a fire fight. I held my Equays back from the edge to prevent the free force choke. I ran Greedo down below to set up a focused shot on Vader. I was holding on the lam and Greedo's card. I thought I flanked out well, with IG up top, Equays in the lane, and Greedo down below. By the middle of Round 2 Vader had 10 damage on him, I thought for a second it was going to go my way, but then everything switched. I am not sure if it was his plan all along and he baited me, or if he switched gears all of sudden when it looked like Vader was going down, but his whole strategy flipped upside down on me. He did 1 damage to Greedo from a jet, not a major concern because of my cards. What wasn't expected was single purpose force lightning on Greedo. I didn't get to use Greedo's card or on the lam. Props to Jason, I didn't expect it. My plan was to use on the lam with Greedo and move him back towards his back line. With Greedo down, Jason double moved vader to the deployment zone, what gets me every time. Then his jets went nuts grabbing crates. We went from an all out fight to all of a sudden crates and running. my Equay couldn't catch them, I had them staged for a further fight, not expecting the full retreat.
I was able to get IG up far enough to kill Vader, but then a force lightning killed IG. I lost the match 25-30. Jason was 4-0. He was a great opponent and fun to play against.
Thoughts: I had a great time and met some awesome people, so can't complain at all. I beat two people with tough list. I lost to two people who both made the cut, one of which was undefeated. I thought my sos would have been better, but I guess not. The only real thing I can take away is that I got more actual wins then two of the people that made the cut. They each only had 1 win in swiss, but had the regional byes from the Store Championships.
Unfortunately because of scheduling I won't get to make any more regionals, so it looks like I'm 1 and done. Back to local tournaments for me. Thanks to the Marrietta folks for hosting, it was a great time.
The store that hosted in Marietta was awesome. I enjoyed my time outside of the results.

1st place.
15 players, very competitive field including 3 of the top 4 players from worlds. This was the first list without hunters I've run at a tournament since Jabba's Realm dropped. Han is very squishy, especially against Weequays. I felt like the was the perfect time to sneak this list in while people still have Mercenary fatigue. I had some doubts about Jyn, but she was clutch in completely shutting vader down. Luke was a great beat-stick. I'll have a full write up sometime this week.
Really like this list, Jyn is one of my favourite characters. Do you think this list is still as viable with say RHC instead of the second smuggler? Or is it the 8 activations that made sure you got your proper han position for his end of round effect? I think I'd like to try this list out in some local play. I'm 6 hours away from the nearest regionals, 21 hours or a $700 flight away from nationals and even further/expensive from worlds so nothing I ever play in matters, which is why I prefer to play with characters I like vs. "Meta", but this has a bit of both!

I think the 8th activation is more important than the extra card draw, but other people will tell you differently. 7 activation Merc lists with devious will devour you without the extra activation.

If that nearest Regionals is Omaha, you should definitely come out for it! A whole bunch of people from the forums are all going there to have a great time over the IA tables.

If anyone is near Toronto on March 4th, we'll have our Regionals then. It's capped at 24 so you may want to buy tickets in advance. Two weeks later is Nationals in Toronto.

How many people in the GTA? 3 mill+? And is that the ONLY regional with 24 spots? Did it fill up last year?

Last year we had 19, I believe. I'm not sure how Asmodee made their decisions, but they only chose one GTA venue that is not large. It's possible it had something to do with the Nats being 2 weeks later? Dunno really.

What was the turn out like at nationals? Good geographical spread or mostly just local players? If it ever worked out I could line this up with a work trip I'd love to come out to one of these big events just to experience it.
And no sadly that one event is not Omaha, I'm in central Canada which is far away from everything. But Omaha is still closer than Toronto for me at 16 hours lol.

Turnout was our biggest yet. We had 29 players from Canada and the USA (9-10 Americans including ones from South Dakota and a few from the Southern States). This year it's being held at Breakout Con of which you'd need to purchase a specially priced pass for FFG players. It's Sunday, so if you play other Star Wars games like x-wing or Destiny, you could always play the Friday or Saturday before. However, I think the spaces for X are limited to 60\day. Not sold out yet, but I suspect Saturday will. There's still lots of people who like flying big ships with turrets and bombs and throwing dice at random. (smiling emoji)

Cool that's a good turn out. I know many are nervous about legion siphoning/intercepting IA players, but The poll I did a while back here came up with the result that the majority of skirmish players bought this game for the campaign and ended up trying snd loving skirmish, many more than the campaign itself. So hopefully the influx of new campaign players from the app will result in more conversions and swell our numbers further and we can see this nationals number continue to grow.

Agreed. I just don't see it taking off in Toronto. So many stores reduced (or eliminated their gaming space). Even now Armada has issues getting games in due to space. And we have the World Champ!
My issue with Legion was that the only real battle I ever wanted to re-create was the Battle of Hoth. And that was super lopsided! Imperial Assault is 4 games in one*, and since I love value, I'd likely get into that over Legion if I was to start from scratch. It will be cool to watch someone with painted figures play Legion, but I doubt I'll see it in Toronto.
*IA 4 games in 1 (in no particular order)
1. Campaign one versus many using a GM.
2. Campaign co-op using the ap.
3. Skirmish 1v1
4. Skirmish 2v2 (plays differently than 1v1)
5. GIA
