1st place.

15 players, very competitive field including 3 of the top 4 players from worlds. This was the first list without hunters I've run at a tournament since Jabba's Realm dropped. Han is very squishy, especially against Weequays. I felt like the was the perfect time to sneak this list in while people still have Mercenary fatigue. I had some doubts about Jyn, but she was clutch in completely shutting vader down. Luke was a great beat-stick. I'll have a full write up sometime this week.

I played in the Orléans France Regional yesterday, which had around 20-25 people.

My list: 2x Elite Weequay, Onar, Vinto, Hera, Elite Jawa, Gideon, C3PO, Temporary Alliance, Black Market, Devious Scheme.

I ended up getting 2nd place. The list did fairly well and I know what my biggest mistakes were in the final. I chose to bring Scum Hunters because I was expecting a lot of high power hero figures, notably Han Solo, and I wanted reliable high single target damage to take them out quickly. I also wanted 8 activations to give my opponents hard choices if they wanted to move their Han's out to get the free end-of-round attack. My reasoning seemed justified, as I played against lists with IG, Han, Chewie, and AT-DPs. The meta was very diverse, with the top 4 consisting of 1 imperial list (a dual AT-DP Palpatine list that had smashed me in the swiss rounds), 2 rebel lists, and my scum list.

The winning list was a 9 activation rebel list with Elite Rangers, Ko-tun, Jarrod, Hera, Gideon, R2-D2, C3PO, and 2x Regular Alliance Smugglers.

Unfortunately this regional apparently did not have the kit with the dice; if I had known I probably wouldn't have used my bye.

If it was an official FFG regional the store should have had the kit. This could mean a few things:

  • The store got the kit and for some reason didn't provide it the day of the tournament.
  • The store got picked for regionals but the kit never arrived or arrived incomplete (it happens).
  • The store was just pretending to get an official regionals.

In any case, if you contact FFG OP on Twitter or Via email, they should help get things sorted out. You're owed dice.

Kits have come incomplete in the past and they're good with mailing you your prizes if you contact Organized Play.

Also, does anyone have a full list of the regional winner that used Saska?

My recollection from the stream was Han with Rogue Smuggler, Gideon, Hera, 3PO, Jyn, Saska, eWeequay, R2-D2.

Denver Regional:

So, I ran "scum" (in quotes due to the lack of scum) also I called the list "Droids a Poppin': the Airline Version" as a Simpsons homage (also for the first run I had BT-1 and MHD in here, but pulled them:

eJawa

eClawdite

2 E Sentry Droids

C3P0

Gideon

Hera

Temp. Alliance

Black Market

Command Deck was: Armed Escort, Blitz, Brace for Impact, Call the Vanguard, Concentrated Fire, Element of Surprise, Intelligence Leak, Marksman (x2), Negation, Stealth Tactics, Take Initiative, Tools for the Job, Tough Luck

The idea of the list was that Sentry Droids will mess your day up. Pulling Imperials over to get focused up where you use Charged shot, roll GGGY (with a reroll), add a surge for 2 accuracy and the chance for Hera meant that you could pretty easily shoot from 11 away and do ~8 damage with a pierce. Also Clawdite was there for spy cards and to throw evade tokens on the Sentries to give them a chance at surviving 2 attacks.

The list is really fun, and just stupid if people don't realize what the Sentries can do. I almost exclusively used Charged Shot since I mostly played unique figures.

I made top-4, lost by about 3 in what was pretty close to a coin flip. Had a blast playing it. There are drawbacks. I did the Zion's Finest Podcast that goes more in rambling depth about it. But essentially they were my only source of damage, so if they didn't hit right or if people were good at getting close and hiding it was hard to win.

I think Sentries absolutely have a home in scum with the focus. I was close to the final table, but I think there was some, I called it smoke and mirrors, but a bit of good fortune and some real good matchups. Against lists with more firepower on a smaller map this list can get blasted. On Nal Hutta I would take this list against just about anyone.

It was certainly fun, I'm working on some variations as we speak, but for those who don't know... Sentry Droids are awful, don't think about them, and ignore them if you see them.

One of the other players from the Orléans regional just messaged me to say the regional kit hadn't arrived yet but that it is on its way! I think I missed the announcement because my french is really bad :P

I'm really glad Jyn worked for you, I think her Stun and synergy with Han/3P0 bring her right back to the field. Looking forward to the write-up!

Hi everybody!

I saw this post and was reading up on the regional scene, and it made me really interested to dive in! Judging by the lists, the event at my nearest store won't be taking place until February, so I have lots of time to make arrangements and practice. As a newbie to the Skirmish side, I play with my buddies when we are feeling the mood, what exactly do I need to know about these events? What do I need to pay attention to, and what can I expect? Ultimately, I'm just looking to dive in, meet new people, and have fun!

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Dutch Nationals 10th of december.

13 players with cut for top 8.

I finshed as runner up.

Vader with DbH.

Emperor

E jets

R riot troopers

R office x 2

Unshakable

Rule by fear

Zillo

Command deck: grenadier, 2x parting blow, overrun, call the vanguard, though luck, death blow, dark energy, negation, force rush, urgency, looking for a fight, TI, planning and element of surprise.

The general idea was making as much attacks in the first two rounds with vader as possible while soaking damage with vader and riot troopers. When vader is dead doing the clean up with the emperor and jet troopers.

There were some strong players present from germany and holland. Top 8 was 5 times hunter scum, 2 hunter smuggler rebels and my list. But not 100% sure. Unfortunatly the final mission of the tournament was raining freight against a hunter scum 8 activation list. The only mission where I struggle with my list of the current map rotation.

My Regional List (came in 5th at MD, only loss was to the guy who came in 2nd):

Vader, 2 eSentry, 3 Officer, Zillo

Grisly Contest, Force Surge, Call Vanguard, Prepared for Battle, Bodyguard x2, Negation, Tough Luck, Shared Experience, Dark Energy, Face to Face,
Element of Surprise, Planning, Take Initiative, Positioning Advantage

I call it "More Machine than Man".

What were your thoughts on how the list performed? I really like the inclusion of the highly nonstandard Bodyguard, though I'm surprised you didn't squeeze in Inspiring Speech. Is there anything that you would change?

Same here. Ours isn't until early March. In fact, it's two weeks before our Nationals. I'm not complaining. Two major tourneys in two weeks? Wooooooo!

So keep an eye on the skirmish threads and you'll see what people have been finding are solid lists. So far, it's looking like Vader is the way to go, with e-jets (and Palp) or e-sentries it seems. However, my guess is there will also be many stun or spy counter lists. I also believe any faction could win a tourney.

Other than that, make sure to have all of the current maps in rotation. My guess is that we'll have a new map put in before our Regionals, which would mean that Anchorhead Cantina would be out.

And have fun playing the best Star Wars game!

I dropped a couple cards that are typically staples for Jet Troopers lists, like Overrun and Fuel Upgrade, and I didn't feel impacted by their absence. The Jets fit a different role in this list, more like a heavy hitting distraction to keep the heat off Palpatine. Triple Zero was definitely a hidden gem in this list. I lost the semi-final match by not appreciating how much my opponent valued Triple Zero more than me, and the lengths he'd go to to destroy that poor droid. This tourney definitely reinvigorated my interest in Imperials and I was happy to see so many Rebel and Imperial lists. #MIGA

Great list. Seems like it would be solid with all of the maps/scenarios.

Yes, I was really concerned about the Swamps, given how much LOS is available. I was often able to hide the Jets on the approach, and then run up with Terro, Triple Zero, and the Palp without heavy damage. Shielded is one of my favorite current missions with this list honestly. I'm able to survive the approach and score points at the same time! Props go to my recent Vassal opponent for showing me that you don't need Vader to make Palp work.

The Event:

I went 3-1 in Swiss taking games against Miguel, Paul and Nick and losing to Brett. Saw one scum list, two rebel lists and one imperial list, many of which are described above in the thread.

In the cut I ran up against a buddy in SmashoTron (4-0 in Swiss) and made killing 0-0-0 my top priority. Man, I never thought I’d write that. Two reasons: first, I had been recently bamboozled by Brett and his effective use of Jyn to stun Vader, second, I had just heard Ira (3-1, 6 th place), who was playing the exact same list I was, talk about how 0-0-0 was effective against him in the last round of Swiss. After that we got into an attrition off and I scored some box points. In the finals, I had a rematch with Brett who had run circles around me in Swiss. Finals was more of the same, I didn’t actually do a heck of a lot in this match except let Vader stunned (pro tip: don’t do that) and get bamboozled and outplayed again. He posted a much cleaner report of the final above.

Thoughts:

Solid list with an iffy command deck and an easily bamboozled player. That store is fantastic to play and shop in. The tournament was well run and there were a ton of familiar faces there. It reinvigorated my desire to get this silly game on the table.

0-0-0. The Imperial Greedo?

I would often activate Triple Zero later in the first round. Captain Terro would have just moved and shot, or used Flamethrower, and then be vulnerable to one activation. After that, Triple Zero would run up and block LOS to Terro where applicable. My opponents would often be frustrated by having to shoot Triple Zero instead of finishing Terro. Then, after Terro and Triple Zero ran up, Palp would move up and trigger more shots with Terro. In my list, Triple Zero would be ignored for the most part while I worked on getting the most out of Terro before he died. If my opponent was shooting Triple Zero right away, then he wasn't working on Terro, Palp, or the Jet Troopers and that alone is a win for only 4 points.

If my opponent is running Vader, then I hold Triple Zero until I can move up and Weaken and/or Stun Vader. Jabba's Palace is great for closing the distance and still having enough movement to move away from the Stunned Vader. I have only faced Vader twice and, as Lucas mentioned, it worked once and then didn't work the second time. Vader isn't going anywhere and Triple Zero isn't an auto-include, but as a huge fan of Greedo the Torpedo, I felt like Triple Zero fits right in with the way I like to play. A map change to something even more close-range than Anchorhead would be a boon to both Triple Zero but also Vader/Palp. He definitely felt worth 4pts, more so than the 2x more regular Officers that would have taken his place. I hope to get more practice with him and go from there.

TL;DR: Your mileage may vary.

My regional list (Houston, Dec 2nd)

  • Greedo
  • Onar
  • eWeequay
  • eJawa
  • eSentries
  • C-3PO
  • Elite Clawdite
  • Black Market, Devious Scheme

Went 2-2 and finished 10th, lost to a Scum Hunters list with 2 Ugs in the Shielded mission (I was badly outplayed, he played well) and lost to an Imp List with Vader, 2xeJets, 1xRiots (regular), Blaise, RBF, Zillo on the Jabba's stash mission. Absolute highlight of that one was where he moved one eJet to my terminal at end of round one, the other to the middle stash, then pulled off Take Initiative -> Overrun -> Grenadier for a 26pt damage (6 figure overrun, Grenadier for 2 on 7 figures) eJet activation with no attacks. Really should have played against Vader more, threw far too much at him to overcome the points deficit.

Honestly, the star of that list was the eClawdite. I brought it as a 'let's just see how this goes', and despite Conspiring for no surges in my first game, it still punched way above its point cost. The 6 movement points total with Streetrat allowed for excellent mobility (esp Raining Freight) with an action left over to attack. The extra surge for Assassin's Blade became invaluable. I don't think it has a place as a mainstay, but honestly that figure was the MVP in every match for me.

I'm really glad to hear you had good success with the claw. I have a list similar to this one I'm working on but I'm not sure about using the Claw or not (I still prefer Onar if I can only pick one 6 cost figure of the 2).

Do you know by any chance what the winning list at Houston was? I haven't seen any other Houston players posting their results anywhere on the forums (I live in New Orleans and I wanted to go but couldn't since my daughter's birthday was that weekend lol). If you dont that's cool, was just curious.

They've been posted on Facebook a couple times. The top 2 lists were eRangers and a Vader and eJets list. If I had to guess I think the eRangers was

eRanger x 2

Hera

Gideon

3PO

RHC

rSmuggler

Not sure on the last 5

the Vader one was something like

Vader

eJets x 2

eRiots

rOfficer x 2

Zillo

The lists in Houston were fairly spread out. 16 players and I think 3 Rebels, 6 Mercs and 7 Imperials. Surprisingly I don't think I saw a single new Rebel figure except one guy running Drokatta.

I know. I'm really surprised no one represented the Rebellion. If you had come then you coulda done it.
