November Meta-Wing Metagame Update

Normally I pull my data by calendar month but this time I went for 7th Nov to 6th Dec, which neatly captures a full month between the FAQ going live and Wave 12/13 landing.

This is a picture of where the game currently is just before Wave 12/13 come and smash it all up again!

  • Big drops for the nerfed boys, but even though only 10 people played Biggs he still performed very well so expect to see him come back after people knee-jerk dropped him.
  • Omicron Group Pilot is back, baby!
  • Lowhhrick is the one standout pilot, literally the new & improved Biggs.

  • Two of the best pre-nerf Squads got played ZERO TIMES!
  • What's most striking is just how chaotic it is. There's only the Wookiees in the Top 10 being played a decent number of times and always working, so a consistent metagame picture is really hard to piece together.

  • There's a big drop in just the sheer number of people all playing the same stuff. Post-FAQ it's clear that the metagame broke up and diversified and nobody was really sure what the best stuff was.
  • In among this there look to be a bunch of people who went back to their old squads but really struggled. There's growth in things like Ketsu Bossk, and anything with Poe in, but they didn't do very well in terms of percentile performance.
  • Those who embraced the new and moved to the Wookiees and Harpoons seemed to have more joy.

  • Guns For Hire has successfully lifted the Kihraxz and StarViper off the bottom of the rankings, but only managed to get them halfway.

Interesting that the OGP is climbing up. Still makes me upset to see the Upsilon so far back.

Pretty convenient that I just painted my Deci and SF to match!

As always, great work SOTL, and looking forwards to December's update!

I’ll be really interested to see how things get shaken up in the next few weeks. I know we will see an initial glut of the new to field test it, but once it settles I think silencer will be a thing with someone, curious what other things will be and if the gunboats can hold out on their own without just raw fan base propping them up (and of course, knowing missile title is awesome in epic)

Imp lists in the top 10? What is this madness!?! :P

Assaj is still excellent, which isn't that surprising. She's probably the best single ship Scum have now.

Really? I was thinking the bomber wouldn’t do much either. Maybe give nym a different bombing option but not one I’m sure will be better than adv sensors.

i do think we will see some solid use from the other 3 though. I want the kimogila to do well but I’m not seeing it

If I had to guess I'd say the Sheathipede, Kimogila, Resistance Bomber and Gunboat are all destined for the 21+ bracket in 'top ships', but the Silencer has a chance to break into the 11-20 bracket.

I think the Gunboat has the biggest potential variance in that prediction and it could gatecrash the Top-10.

I'd also predict the Kimo have STRONG associations with Unhinged and VI...

Well, it's both really. The #1 upgrade on the Scimitar Squadron Pilot is TIE Shuttle, but Long-Range Scanners is in #2 and barely behind the shuttle.

GOOD. We don't need to keep raising **** to the top and raising the **** ceiling.

Also, Wookiee Liberator is incorrectly identified as Imperial in the first graph.

I expect PS wars coming back with a vengeance. Both the silencer and the gunboat will be used at PS9 and Kimogila - if it's used at all - will probably be PS10. Considering that moving after all those ships will be very beneficial (especially the silencer), I expect to see advanced optics VI Poe, RAC with QD or Vader and PS10+ alpha. And the new stuff ofc.

Fenn is going to make top 10, probably in a squad with Lowrisk. IMO hes the best pilot of the wave.

All I can say is THANK GOODNESS there are new ships dropping to bust this top five up....hopefully. Yeah, I'm a Imp honk, but really I'm a old-school Star Wars honk at heart that like the iconic original trilogy ships to at least be somewhere in the meta. I'd love it if either some mix of TIEs or X-Wings at least can be solidly top tier.

It's unfortunate the top ships create such a non-Star Wars look (I'm excluding the recent movies that include T-70s TIE/FOs, etc. as they are Star Wars) and feel to the game, especially to the uninitiated (which is ultimately bad for the game financially). And, hate to say it, but the only decent TIE (Rex was unfortunately) dropped out too, although part of me is saying, "good riddance, you blasphemy." Cant wait to see what the new year looks like after the waves hit. Let's all hope for some sort of actual faction balance --with the infusion of the movie ships and old-school computer game ships-- bring some Star Wars look and feel to this previously recognized Star Wars game.

Stuff like this should be everywhere. Have 2 stress and no tokens from a PS11 Ship with a Rear Arc ( i.e. 50% of a Turret )...oh and it can Coordinate. :)

That doesn't work, does it? Fenn has to be unstressed to use his ability then stresses himself.

So you've stressed yourself with R3-A2 before you can use the pilot ability, and if for whatever reason you ever DID get to do both you'd not be able to clear both stress tokens and then be left without your pilot ability anyway.

I guess we haven't seen to much experimentation with the new Rebel stuff at least on here.

There has to be something good with the Coordinate Bug right?

Not saying this is good...but theres weird combos now.

I think this, EPT to taste, can slot in a lot of lists. I don't like the stress versions of him at all.

I kinda like that. When the dust settles its probably a fair bet that there will be a Kanan or Miranda build that is somehow even more tanky than it is now.

That Fenn can slot into Biggs' place on 100pt Miranda and probably not miss a beat. Might even be an improvement to post-nerf Biggs. And...****, yeah, I guess same might apply for Kanan/Fenn?

Personally I hope Kanan takes a sizeable dose of Kylo Ren's silencer up his donut hole and goes away for the forseeable future.

Not sure yet, i havent practice with him. Too busy with Blackout :-) The combo Fenn+Lowrisk is really cheap and offers incredible support and protection. If played properly a ship attacking you wont be able to mod its dice and will need to go througs at least 1 evade. Lowrisk would be good with just wookie commando and Fenn needs at least VI

That leaves 51 point for and extra ship or 2. You need at least one ship with bigger guns. If i'd want to build a super annoying squad, i would add Rex (naked) and Biggs :-) Not sure that would be tier 1 but i would not want to play vs that. Potential candidate for most annoying squad.

This is a rough 1st draft. It might have place for improvement but it looks promising. Fenn is also a nice partner for Miranda. He gives her a TL so she can add extra mods to the 5 dices harpoon and he adds the extra protection she needs. It might be a good idea to drop the bombs and focus entirely on missiles/torp:

EDIT: as another forum user suggested i think Flight assist astromech is better than Chopper on Fenn. He needs a way to make sure he has some ship inside his arc.
