This whole thread reinforces the notion that Crab players are by far the whiniest players in the entire base.

Yeah, that's doing the discussion favors.

Just use Pit Trap ;D

I think this might have been slight sarcasm but...

I will use JADE TETSUBO sooner than I'd use PIT TRAP. There is a lot less chance for repeat attacks when you just remove the fate on the character. Also, there is plenty of unbow tech in the game, but a lot less add fate on character.

Also 2-cost for basically the same general end state...character removal/stasis.

With the CRAB CLAN's new increased fate generation (YASUKI TAKA and FAIR ACCORD). I also see people playing LET GO less (perhaps just my meta), but attachments seem safer than they used to be. Perhaps that's because you have to be more selective with playing it with the slew of decent attachments.

I honestly feel like the simplest fix to bring Magistrate's back under control would have been to make their text into a triggered ability rather than a constant effect.

Or only working against non-imperials. Fluffwise it would make some sense.

I like Silver-tongue Magistrate with a Dragon splash for Togashi Kazue. But then I seem to like Kazue more than most people do.

Deleted.

If you're playing Phoenix you run 3x Haughty Magistrate in EVERY deck.

In fairness the same can be said for most of the Magistrates and their respective Clans (Except Unicorn cause they aren't allowed anything nice).

I don't think Stoic Magistrate from Crab is an auto 3x in every Crab deck...unless of course we wish to overthrow our Lion overlords.

Considering the saturation of good attachments played in many Crab decks I'm actually less worried about Let Go. Calling In Favors is more annoying. That said I've got Watch Commander, Reprieve, Spy Glass all in my deck currently. The opponent probably doesn't want to see any of them show up. If these fate generating cards actually stick in competitive Crab decks then playing a more expensive attachment like Jade Tetsubo doesn't seem all that impossible anymore. We always have the option to throw Finger Of Jade in our decks to protect our big beat stick characters. In a faction that loves to keep these big problems around all game FoJ might be worth the investment especially if you mange to get dishonored against Crane or Scorpion and want more than Reprieve to protect against character removal effects.

There is an argument as he shuts down many of the strong single character strategies (Mirumoto Prodigy, Cautions Scout, Brash Samurai) tactics that some decks like to run. He's not the strongest of the magistrates but I can see where he would have a place. In all honesty the Magistrates are all potentially very strong (even the Unicorn one as it can dictate play decisions by needing to under invest in characters to deal with it). There are some that are just heads and shoulders above the rest (I'm looking at you Haughty, Implacable and Cunning Magistrates) while others need to have the right circumstances in effect for them to really shine.

I've gotten to play Haughty Magistrate 2x so far. First time, my opponent was able to immediately field Doji Hotaru against me. Second time was during a mirror match. Still waiting for an opportunity to experience its OP brokenness. :P

Try saving it in your provinces and using Charge to bring it in mid-conflict. That way you save the Fate, and can utilize it as an Option Select. Play it if its the right move at the right time, otherwise you play something else. Just having it face up in the province with 1 fate banked might prevent your opponent from defending properly against your attack.

I played one against an opponent's Kachiko. She was capable of handling the conflict, but I don't think my opponent was happy about it. It's a powerful threat, even if your opponent has answers.

Most of the other games I've played him have been against a new crab player, and I felt pretty bad about it :P
